    I had a stroke exactly one year ago today. Channels like yours have been invaluable for my rehab. I am very happy with my progress. I don't have any problem falling asleep, but I wake up quite often. I am not concerned by this, it is just something I manage. Thank you very much for caring!

      Of course! I started Post Stroke because I was so frustrated with the healthcare system, for many reasons, but one of them was that people are just seen as dollar signs. I’m a patient, too and want to be treated like a person as well, not a commodity!

    I realize that when I can get at least 6 hours straight sleep I can function sooo much better the next day. I used to feel fearful and anxious right after my stroke cause my stroke happened in my sleep. I woke up to half my body not being able to move😢😢😢. I was fighting these NAPS during the day but I'll give it a try from today. Thanks Elyse ❤❤❤❤❤❤

      Just seeing your crying emojis i fall onto myself just know. This is due to the fact that sincd my stroke hapened i was at home lisrening to music with my headphones conected to my tablat device on my sofa and the tab was charging.when it has charged i toked the chord charge cable and it faled out to ground i tryed to cache it with my left hand by that hand as like my keft side aas already sith no strength so easely i falled out from the sofa. I tryed to get out the flor of my living room but i couldn't so my mother who was at home caled the 911 for me to go to hospital. I laughed a lot about the surrealist thing that hapened to me. But know i falled to myself is that i was able to do so mang things, i was formed at fine arts i used to paint and draw, i was able tk play to guitar since i was 16 and this is sad because i don't do any of those things since i had the stroke 😢. I used to play and draw or paint everydays. This was my way to expressmyself and the way to be close to God. A unic way to pray.

    I hate the fact that I keep needing naps during the day. It's been almost 2 years since my stroke and I sometimes feel like I'm worse now than I was when I left rehab, when it comes to sleeping and pain. This channel has helped me deal with the changes so much. Thank you.

    Omg, I am alwayssss tired! Just passed 1 year in end of January. Doing PT & OT twice a week, still. Had a sleep test 2 weeks ago; waiting for results. Apnea is suspected. Anyway, this was helpful as always. I will make sure I sleep as much as needed while my brain heals.

    After my stroke, I notice I need 8-9 hours of deep sleep to feel refreshed and ready for a new day. I use to take melatonin to help me sleep, but lately Ive had excellent results by running a fan and streaming one of those singing bowls videos on my phone.

    Out of the blue, I had a stroke (TIA) 31 days ago. I have recently lost 56 pounds, I don't smoke or drink, and I do not have hypertension. I understand that since I had a lacunar stroke in the past, I'm probably going to succumb to a brain bleed sooner rather than later. What can I do? I sleep 7 hours every night, and my only external damage seems to be weakness and I'm just now able to walk. Thank you.

    Hello, I have a question about twitching occurring in the fingers of the effected side
    Does it mean the hand is waking up and the brain is remembering that it moves or is it just that the small finger muscles are tired from physical therapy?

    • @PostStrokeOrg
      @PostStrokeOrg  7 месяцев назад

      @epicorcas Thank you for your question! It really depends. If you don't have any active movement, twitching may be a sign that the brain-muscle connection is rebuilding. Like you said, it may be that your muscles have just worked hard and are twitching due to overuse or stress. I would recommend talking with your physical therapist as they know your situation and medical background!

    Hello Elyse,
    Many thanks also for this interesting video.
    I don’t have problems with sleeping which usually happens quite easily and even more easily after going out as I feel exhausted when I’m back home.
    I also think the medications, especially one, given after the stroke, makes me tired and at times even sleepy, during the day.
    It’s unfortunately one of the adverse effects.
    This said, if I would become prone to insomnia, I’d definitely follow the breathing techniques you mentioned knowing they can relax and help to sleep.

    I'm 2+ years out from the stroke I had. For quite a while I was unable to get comfortable in bed due to pain or spasms. I would have to go sleep in a chair which helped but left me stiff as a board. I asked my doctor if I could try medical marijuana and she agreed. There has only been one time since I've been taking it that I have had to get up and sleep in a chair. I take a small dose, 0.20 - 0.25 cc nightly. It helps.
