  • Lake Speed Jr is joined by Rottler Manufacturing’s Ed Kiebler at CNC Blockworks to talk about plasma spray (aka: SUMEbore) cylinder coatings and what you need to know about honing them.
The guys dive into the main differences between standard cast iron cylinder surfaces where you’re honing to create the valleys that will hold oil, and a SUMEbore coated cylinder which is nearly mirror-like in its surface finish.
Ed also provides some tips on the type of hone material and grit that need to be used with SUMbore cylinder linings, and explains why proper clamp load is key to preventing distortion in these types of cylinder linings.

Ductile iron sleeves are only for diesels anymore, how about a comparison between plasma spray and nikasil!

  • @Abigailrp

Are these guys real Americans? No belly, no jowls, only one chin. Very suspect!

If you can squeeze a Porsche jug .002" by hand that ring pack is out of control while running. They wouldn't last very long at all.

This is just a commercial. When shit goes bad with coatings it goes REALLY BAD! No high horse motor is gonna use that.
