Just what I needed this morning... cup of coffee and some ICON brilliance. Once again simple elegance but still keeping the truck a truck. Love the use of the 06 Cummins... such a good platform.
Ford has used Cummins engines for years in their vehicles, although those have been F-650 and up. As a Ford guy, I would have preferred to see a different chassis go under this one, but it's a damn good improvement body wise. I never liked that era Dodge pickup visually and am glad to see one scrapped for some classic Ford sheet metal up top.
arkhsm ford: I have a 1998 F-Series (800) with a 12 valve Cummins that can maintain posted speed limits on any road while getting decent mpg (10 - 12). I often drive it instead of a pickup for the convenience of addition load space and it can easily park in two parking spaces.

Best vehicle you have done to date! Watched every minute of video. Only thing that does not look proper is the front fender wheel openings. I would still take it over any other TWO (2) of other vehicles you have done. Now just do another with a 2017 & Up 6.7 Power Stroke. Shared it on my FaceBook
the powerstroke is an unreliable engine... kudos for going with the cummins it will last the life of the truck and the variant he went with is dead reliable.
why would you put a 2016 engine in this truck? It requires too much electronic integration. Reason he went with the 06 cummins was that it can be integrated alot easier into this truck.
who said anything about a 2016 engine? I suggested doing "another" with a 2017 & up Power Stroke. The person who had this truck built wanted a Cummin's engine. I have no problem with that.
Have you ever swapped a modern "non-crate" engine into any vehicle? It requires integration with the CAN systems (usually 2 channel powertrain). It is not as easy as doing "another" you have to spoof the hundreds of messages that the ECU's need to see to operate properly.
As a matter of fact I have swapped more than one "non-crate" 3.5 EcoBoost including all electronics into 50+ yr old trucks. Getting a 6.7 & up Power Stroke into one would not be that difficult.

It's a no-brainer to me, I'll have the 1968 chevy K20 crewcab with modern interior, NV5600 trans and a 5.9 cummins.
Beautiful beast, had a single cab 3/4 ton as a kid. One thing we did was use 1 1/2 ton fenders on the front to be able to run 12" tires on a 2nd truck, worked great in the farm's back 40. Thanks for sharing your gifts. B
I learned to drive on my dad's 1966 F100 Custom Cab. I love these trucks and having one with a modern drive train would be incredible. I currently have a 1963 F100 Custom Cab with the unitized body, long bed, and the the big back window. It is in really great condition with only 45K miles. Your creation may inspire me to build it into a more drive-able vehicle. Currently it has the 223 inline 6 cyl. with a 4 speed manual. Thanks for sharing this build.
Very nicely done. Too nitpick I wish you would have used the f100-f250 fenders as they give a better look as well as the simpler, cleaner 64-66 tailgate to keep cleaner lines(instead of the 67-72 tailgate you used). Again, amazing team you have.
Couple thoughts... You are generating product ideas that would make great products for others' builds, and I get that your company's not geared to offer them commercially. My suggestion there would be simple- start a product company. It's a really different business, you're right. Either empower a leader or take on a partner where you license the designs, mfr the products if you want to, take some equity in the new company and retain as much creative & quality control as you want. But just hand those things off to someone who becomes great at doing that kind of business. One criticism, and I hate to say it, but I have a geeky eye too: the relationships between the tires and the wheel-well cutouts isn't quite right. The reshaped cutout in the front has a relatively flat spot on the backside of the curve, and in back the tire just feels too close to the cutout and looks like the wheelbase is a tiny bit too long. It's a BEAUTIFUL truck, but before you said you'd mod'd those cutouts, I knew it... and they never didn't look a little wrong to me for the length of the whole video. Sorry- but hey, if I have spinach in my teeth, I want my friends to tell me.
I would just like to say that I had noticed the wonderful flow of the arches in relation to the wheels before this video. I did not however figure out how it was done! Amazing, subtle details on this truck.
I know, right? My precision calibrated eyes (lol) were wondering if there was rubbing if the suspension compressed. Maybe some tall narrow tires with different offset wheels? Still an overall beautiful truck.
Why not use the original tailgate?, raise the rear wheel well and leave front fender line alone, Wrong sterring wheel, 4x4 used 4 spoke steering wheel back then. shame you got rid of the original dash knobs, the front hood emblem and Ford letters. just my personal opinion.
Yeah, I wonder if he commissions without ICON label. I want people to argue about whether its a stock restoration or not. Regardless that's beautiful work. Lastly since I'm in the South he could have used Era style A/C ducts from Mercury or Ford and it would have worked just fine.
I think your missing the point, the truck didnt come with a cummins diesel, bluetooth, or 3 point seatbelts either. Icon is just putting their own spin on the design aspect. Suttle changes that that make it stand out in a big way.
What kind of madman gives this work of art a thumbs down?
I used to dream about taking less desirable vintage vehicles and completely redoing them with modern safety and durability while maintaining the original look. I envy you and your "job". Thanks for sharing your videos.

I know, right? My precision calibrated eyes (lol) were wondering if there was rubbing if the suspension compressed. Maybe some tall narrow tires with different offset wheels? Still an overall beautiful truck.
Wheelbase to wheel openings looks odd too. While they were modifying, why not open them up? It's gorgeous, but that detail bugs me.
Wow you a intense Guy .
It helps negotiating turns you don't want the skinny tires on the old ford's
Jonathan’s subtle touches on all of his projects is out of this world . Simply fantastic . Cheers
I want a super cab with a v8 gas and glass packs that dump in front of the tires
Absolutely beautifully done. (Edited)......And you, Sir.....are an artist.
Why not use the original tailgate?, raise the rear wheel well and leave front fender line alone,
Wrong sterring wheel, 4x4 used 4 spoke steering wheel back then.
shame you got rid of the original dash knobs, the front hood emblem and Ford letters.
just my personal opinion.
Scott Clark it was waste of money and a beatifull truck, should've left it alone.
you just dont go around chopping, lifting, Classic Slicks like this.
Good job hector
Your vehicles are some of the most epic examples in the world! Your hats I cannot say the same. Keep up the the good work.
Cheers for this truck .. its a big beauty ... loveit ... for sure icon builds dreams !!!!!!!
zero dislikes so far.....always enjoy your videos, thanks for all the time you put in to them!
