My boyfriend just said to me, "These guys are like the comic book friends you want but can't have so you just watch them on RUclips." Very true. I did enjoy this episode though they should probably re-read the comic they're reviewing before they make a video about it. I had just finished reading it myself before I looked this channel up so I know firsthand that they got a few of the details wrong.
I have always loved the Grant Morrison/Alan Moore dichotomy. Very similar writers but one loves all things comics and the other hates them. Then Gaiman is the guy everyone likes.
one of the funniest things in all back issues is when sal sees the ghost and closes the door and ethan asks, "did you pee" and without missing a beat sal says "oh ya". getting into the comic pop halloween spirit!
This was my first episode of Back Issues and it seemed decent, and really organic and conversational. Once I watched a couple more episodes, the more I got into the show and now I'm subscribed.
I saw the thumbnail, and knew there would be an Alan Moore impression, so I could only stop everything and watch the episode. The bonus being it was about Batman.
Bill finger got royally screwed over, he created robin, the bat mobile, and I think the bat cave; as well as co-creating batman as most to all of you know
This is my absolute favorite comic--which I want you to know is the only reason I'm about to get this stupidly chatty in a RUclips comment: Dent says there were two Holiday killers...but the only person we are expressly told was Holiday is Gilda, because she admits it to the reader, at the end. That Harvey took up the Holiday cause is just her own belief based on circumstances that she chooses to think indicate this is true. To me, though, it is more likely that, contrary to Gilda's belief, Alberto Falcone was, in fact, the second Holiday killer, as the mob killings abruptly switch from focussing on the Falcone family (Gilda) to the rival Maroni family after Alberto's (faked) "murder"--which, would make sense if Holiday was now a Falcone. That's always how I interpreted it, with all the Harvey suspicion just being another set of red herrings in a book full of red herrings--and an extra wrinkle in the "Gilda is nuts" reveal. That said, I love that you went over this book. And I love that Sal knows how to pronounce "Falcone" properly. I just wish Sal'd had 96 other rings to wear for his costume, for that truly authentic flavor.
Love this episode, always come back to it. This is one of the first back issues I watched, and what got me into comics. Inspired me to dive in when Rebirth came out, thank you!
I'm making it a Halloween tradition to read this every October. Such a well-constructed story, even though I'm still not 100% sure which people killed which other people during which holidays. Bought trade count since I've started watching Back Issues: 18
Harvey WASNT one of the Holiday Killers. Well if you want to be technical he was, because he kills 2 people on the final Halloween, but the killers were Alberto and Gilda. If I remember correctly Gilda may have thought that Harvey was the Holiday Killer which is one reason she started killing, but Alberto was the first one, and Gilda was the 2nd one.
Gilda was the original Holiday for the first three killings. Then Alberto faked his own death and took over the role from there. Gilda thought that this second killer was Harvey, so she stopped at that point. Then Dent killed Falcone and his assistant after Alberto was caught.
Another great episode! That's some really good spooky sound effect/music you guys edited in there. In fear of postponing it indefinitely, might I request the War of Kings event next?!
So I got this story as part of a Batman collection, and I loved it, the problem was that the 3 final issues were in the next book which was imposible to get. I started watching this video, but never saw the end because i didn't want to spoil it. I finally got it last week and today I read the whole thing, finally being able to read the ending. Now I can finish this video! I would like to say that my life will be complete, but ai also got the first half of Dark Victory, which *also* was part of that collection, and thus I never finished it either.
That's some 'Wytches' level terror you're inducing there guys. Yet another scarily entertaining episode! Also, "You have so much integrity Alan Moore, it's un-fucking-believable" now beats all spider-god quotes for top Ethan remark.
"COCKNEY" has had several distinct geographical, social, and linguistic associations. Originally a pejorative applied to all city-dwellers, it was eventually restricted to Londoners and particularly to the "Bow-bell Cockneys".Those born within earshot of Bow Bells, the bells of St Mary-le-Bow in the eastern Cheapside district of the City of London. Alan Moore was born in Birmingham which is located more central England. The people who come from Birmingham are called BRUMMIES, and Alan Moore has a BRUMMIE accent. This is not easy for most Americans to realise as most Americans think the UK is so small that all the UK residents know the Queen personally. Keep up the great work Sal and co. Great Channel lots of fun.
I had just re-read this book. I love the show but just so many facts were remembered wrong XD. I did love the comedic effect you guys were using throughout the show. I hope for more current shows you're re-reading the books prior to shooting the episode.
Im watching this 8years later and never realized Sals dressed as Alan Moore. I thought he was old run down Micheal Keaton from the flash movie... also him losing it with the ouija board and his stupid fringe is top notch comedy! But Ben being like.. there's no motor are the batteries dead and Sal in all seriousness exclaiming its supposed to be magic was the best part 😂😂
Would you guys mind doing Dark Victory and Future Foundations? I've seen a few people try to review Dark Victory and it's just horrible. I've also been looking into Future Foundations on youtube and can't really get a good scope of what's going on, there doesn't seem to be any real information on youtube for it. thanks dude, love the channel TV Little House Comics
Love your shows guys! You ever make it over to the Secret Stache? I live in Red Bank, its an awesome shop! I should make my way over to your side of the state
I was watching some old back issues vids and came across this. Awesome episode. But for real tho my 3 Caucasian brothers Sal, Ethan, and Ben the non-acknowledgement of other worlds spirits in this episode is why Jason and Micheal Myers have been in business forever, lol. I bet if it was real, the shortest episode of back issues ever! Lol. You guys have great content. Keep it coming.
Joker burning the money makes sense. But couldn't batman just easily take it and distribute it among the people who live in the narrows. Yes it's Mob money but it's not like the money itself is evil, it could help the people who are the worst off in gotham.
My boyfriend just said to me, "These guys are like the comic book friends you want but can't have so you just watch them on RUclips." Very true. I did enjoy this episode though they should probably re-read the comic they're reviewing before they make a video about it. We need more Sal as Alan Moore.
Hopefully if he reviews the league or watchmen
+Zach Jones or v for vendeta
Salan moore
We do and we will
I knew who he was supposed to be the instant I saw the beard.
I have always loved the Grant Morrison/Alan Moore dichotomy. Very similar writers but one loves all things comics and the other hates them. Then Gaiman is the guy everyone likes.
Moore also has A LOT to say about Morrison. haha
I honestly think Moore hates him because he's optimistic. I think he hates that they come from the same place and have wildly different takes on it.
Watching this made me appreciate just how much Sal has improved as a storyteller. He’s come such a long way
Lmfao! "Did you pee?"......"oh yea" classic. Im new to this channel..found out about through the weekly pull and i gotta say this is amazing
+William Gazca Thanks William! Welcome to the POPulation!
"You pee'd?
Oh yeah"
LOL third rewatching and I just caught that
Brandon Leyva-Lopez One of my favorite jokes!
I just got the joke 😆
I got it while reading this

TV Little House Comics You're welcome! You guys make excellent content. I have to ask, how itchy was that beard Sal?
Bill finger got royally screwed over, he created robin, the bat mobile, and I think the bat cave; as well as co-creating batman as most to all of you know
Not to mention catwoman and a host of other characters you hit the nail on the head.
This is my absolute favorite comic--which I want you to know is the only reason I'm about to get this stupidly chatty in a RUclips comment: Dent says there were two Holiday killers...but the only person we are expressly told was Holiday is Gilda, because she admits it to the reader, at the end. Awesome interpretation! Love it. I tried to get more rings but none of my girlfriend's jewelry fit!
I love this! This was the only logical conclusion i could come to as well. So glad to know someone also sees it!
I had exactly the same conclusion. Alberto must have been the other one.
You should do dark victory the sequel to this
I'm from the future he doesn't
@@dharrmanbestyoutuber lmao
I can't believe I forgot about that intro, that skit is so freaking funny. I wanna see more off-the-couch wacky hijinks from the crew.
"No creator will ever talk to us". Man how things have changed. Lol
This makes me feel old. I watched this when it came out. Lol
I thought Ben was a Alternate Ryu costume
I always come back to this episode, it's so freaking great!!!
Dark Victory should be done.
It just might!
+ComicPOP! dude come on we Need this. you said that 9 months back. also maybe do haunted Knight?
It's almost 7 years.
@@comicpop Dark Victory!!
Quick question did Ben mean to look like a member of the Cobra Kai or was it just a coincidence.
Subconsciously, I think.
back issues is my favorite thing! it should honestly be a show like comic book men, it fits into 40 minutes most of the time :D
Thanks, Zeke! We love making it.
Love this episode, always come back to it. This is one of the first back issues I watched, and what got me into comics. Inspired me to dive in when Rebirth came out, thank you!
This was a great episode! It was so great I felt the need to finally comment and tell you :)
Thank you, Claudia! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Love the secret bathroom door behind the wall of action figures, at end of the beginning seen.
I'm making it a Halloween tradition to read this every October. Such a well-constructed story, even though I'm still not 100% sure which people killed which other people during which holidays.
Bought trade count since I've started watching Back Issues: 18
This was the first episode I ever watched, about six years ago, I was instantly hooked and I’ve been with you guys ever since.
It is important that Alan Moore takes us through 'Watchmen' on the next episode of Back Issues.
5 yrs later Batman movie based on The Long Halloween good to be a fan for this long still trying to find my comment from 3yrs ago
Sal's Alan Moore is hilarious!
It's funny hearing Sal saying that no Batman creators would talk to them and know he's talked to three of them and is even kinda close to one of them
which one
@@thegoddamnedbatman2138 I think when I wrote this I was talking about Synder but him and King seem to be pretty cool as well

Gilda was the Holiday killing Falcones while Alberto was the Holiday when Holiday started killing Maronis
This might be my favourite back issues episode. Great show guys keep up the great work
I saw it as Alberto was the real holiday killer and Gilda was simply losing her mind from losing her husband who was horrifically disfigured.
I feel like there needs to be an Alan Moore vs TV Little House segment. All you gotta do is stand up to him. Great bits.
Bob Kane will forever be remember by his loving wife...Candy.
"What happens to all the costumed villains?"
"Batman kicked their ass."
I mean, of course.
Sal's Alan Moore is freaking hilarious. Great episode guys!
Another great episode! That's some really good spooky sound effect/music you guys edited in there.
In fear of postponing it indefinitely, might I request the War of Kings event next?!
I've gotta read it first!
Great Alan Moore! You capture his duchiness
Another great episode guys.! Loved the extra work!
We really appreciate it! Thanks!

Catwoman's costume in this is so fascinating, love this freaky ass art!
I can't believe they got Alan Moore to use a Ouija board with them
I would have tried for Bill Finger
As I'm watching this I'm doing a book project over this for my Language Art class. Perfect.👌
I don't know why but there's something about Sal that reminds me of Nathan Lane, maybe because they're both so funny?
+Hadeel Al Kholy I hope that's it!
That's some 'Wytches' level terror you're inducing there guys. Yet another scarily entertaining episode!
Also, "You have so much integrity Alan Moore, it's un-fucking-believable" now beats all spider-god quotes for top Ethan remark.
It's one of my favorites now, too. ;)
Classic episode with the intro of Sal as Alan Moore. One of my favorites from Comic Store Set Era.
"COCKNEY" has had several distinct geographical, social, and linguistic associations. Sal should just do his Alan Moore impression/thing every episode, it was amaizng
You've earned a loyal fan. KU-fuckin-DOS
Eff yes! Thanks man!
You guys should have a behind the scenes back issues
Haha You basically saw one ;) But we'll do something
you guys need to make a podcast edition !!!
great vid bro'ss
Best episode ever! Love you guys
Thanks, Grant!
I finally read the long Halloween. So now I'm ready for the back issues episode.
Fun video and it reminded me that I need to get dark victory. Nice Alan Moore impression as well, but what costume was Ethan wearing?
Maverick (Tom Cruise's character from the movie Top Gun)
We have Halloween to keep Alan Moore in the dark place he came from
I had just re-read this book. I love the show but just so many facts were remembered wrong XD. I did love the comedic effect you guys were using throughout the show. I hope for more current shows you're re-reading the books prior to shooting the episode.
Sal, I just want to say I adore your Alan Moore impression
Ben: When is a book not a book?
Me: When it has a face.
Have you guys read Dark Victory, the sequel to this? I loved it. Great video!
this was a great one, guys!
Thanks!
BTW, when you ask about how the Ouija thing is supposed to move, check out the "ideomotor effect."
Classic Back Issues and a classic story! You guys should do the "Batman: Vampire" trilogy or "Batman: Haunted Knight" this Halloween.
fantastic artwork and story. only batman absolute I own
This is one of the best episodes! I love these guys!
Only discovered your channel recently and Im hooked great stuff.
Welcome, Mark!
Ethan looks like Styles from "Teen Wolf".
I'd like to think I inspired Sal's costume :D
Just watched the animated movie for this and immediately had to come watch this episode

you should do a back issues on scott snyders endgame
This is still the best drawn Batman story Tim Sale has ever drawn! Is he still drawing comics?
Sal stared at that skull like a dad who's disappointed he had to go see his son in the school dance

Whats the deal with batman-writers writing one or two great stories and then going f****** insane?
Frank Miller and tons of writers are like this don’t know why
Thanks guys!
Ethan wins the costume contest. He looks like Maverick. Or Goose...........
Best batman story ever
"Hey Alan. How do you feel about mini cupcakes?"
"Oh, it's all a bunch of bullshit."
Best intro ever
That's the thing about Alan Moore - you can channel him from the spirit world even though he's still alive!
9 years ago is insanity
6.7% through back issues back issues, and we've hit the first Holloween special!
I loved this episode!
will there be a gaiman sandman episode of back issues?
ha!
Joker burning the money makes sense. But couldn't batman just easily take it and distribute it among the people who live in the narrows. Yes it's Mob money but it's not like the money itself is evil, it could help the people who are the worst off in gotham.
Alberto is more like a mashup of Tom Hagan, Michael, and Fredo. The city coroner is civilian and he gets whacked.
I got an ad that's just an entire variant comics video
You guys are great
Thanks man. You're great at commenting on videos that hadn't been posted yet! Freaky!
TV Little House Comics yeah I that's weird I saw no comments and no views but I was able to watch it.
My 23rd birthday is October 31st. I will consider this your present to me. And F.Y.I., I love my present. Thank you!
Anytime, Wil! Happy birthday!!
love the show. can you guys do annihilation? love from mexico
One of these days we'll get there!
I will be spitting venom on The Long Halloween.
Hey look it's the super hype team behind spiderman blue.
Heard there were spoilers to the book. I'll be back after I read the book.
"Actually, fuck you Allan Moore, fuck you" Best. Quote. Ever! 😂
Someone is supposed to troll the others and secrectly move the oujia and deny it all and try to trick the others :P.
