- The Lancia Fulvia 1600 Zagato now has perfectly shaped new bodywork thanks to the amazing metalworking skills by Adrian and Sam at Prestige Refinishing, who have created beautiful new body panels out of flat sheet using mainly hammers and an English Wheel.

This is why we need to invest in apprenticeship’s in the UK, in not many years time skills like this will be lost for ever. A joy to watch 👍
Sadly there's probably work for 10 craftsmen like this in the entire country, and a modern vlogger blabbering over a wrap and phat pipes will get 1000x the views this will.
British craftsman can get a job anywhere in the world, I did a 5 year apprenticeship in the early 60's in Swindon and have used my skills to work anywhere I wanted, retiring in Florida
@@adventtrooper huwite excellence.
@@adventtrooper Sadly true. Goonsquad style. 🙄
the MPs of whatever color HATE british natives, which is why they keep pretending that they can only get 'skills from over seas
I cannot fathom how anybody could turn a piece of flat sheet metal into a piece of a car. It truly is an art form!
Check this guy, ruclips.net/user/proshaper
And so much "eyeballing" going on, master craftsman at work.
It’s called Skill
As a craft trained aircraft apprentice it is something you learn in the four years it takes to qualify. English wheel or hammer and buck, leather bag and mallet it’s all good. You can do anything if given the time and respect for the time to get it right. These skills are ridiculously under appreciated and now rely on the crazy patronage of wealthy owners otherwise they would be lost for good.
Seems quiet easy really 😂 that is truly a skill
What a craftsman, I really hope the industry is bringing through some young people in these skills as all the guys I've seen doing it seem to be cracking on a bit and one day they'll be gone.
Throw away society now.
I was thinking exactly the same. These skills need to be preserved in future generations.
Check out Retropower's channel. Their English wheel has seen some serious use!
IT ISN'T you don't need panel beaters for battery cars
I for one, fully intend to pick up the torch.
…beautiful. Anyone that describes their equipment at “me bench…” or “me wheel…” you know is a true artisan. Skills that can’t be replicated.
Lol
Ah Sunday, Harry's update on the Zagato, life's good gents, cheers 🥂
What an absolute craftsman he is Harry and irreplaceable too.
It's amazing how a lifetime of experience can make an almost impossible task seem like child's play.
It is pure joy for me to watch a true artist at work.
No head-banging music, no fake drama, just an artist at work.
Great way to start a Sunday, than you Harry!
But if I can't pound it into shape with me hammer by tomorrow WE'RE GONNA LOSE THE SHOPP!!!
There’s a theme running through the comments that I would like to add to. Really hope Adrian has an apprentice and those skills don’t eventually retire with him.
Love to see craftsmen at work, they always make things look easy. This however is a Masterclass.
Theirs gotta be a few owners out there looking at their Lancia and thinking “oh shit” after watching this series.
Harry, can't thank you enough for this type of video, showing true masters, artisans with metal working. The amount of forethought involved, the actual working of the metal... superb stuff. Take 'em all out to a pub when they're done!
What's not to like about watching a master craftsman at work!
Magic!
I hope the guys see all these comments, unbelievable workmanship, it's a pleasure to watch.
Watching this artisan at work is an honor.
Magic. Not a computer in sight. A true artisan at work.
This isn’t a car. It’s a sculpture! What an artist!!
Wowwwwww
😍😍😍😍😍😍
My old father was a Lancia mechanic. I'll show (and translate!) him this video
As a craftsman with 50 years of experience in another field of finish work, I respectfully 'tip my hat' to the amazing craftsmanship displayed here! cheers!
Fantastic craftsmanship on display. Get that genius to train as many apprentices as possible!! Proper attention to detail. Even Ron Dennis would be impressed with this level of perfectionism.
It’s so good to see some old school craftsmanship! It’s lost on modern bodyshops
This man is an Artist, pure and simple. The Van Gogh of cars. Absolute joy to watch. 🥰👌🏿
I love these kinds of people, completely unassuming blokes in a dusty workshop that have unbelievable skill and knowledge.
Amazing what a skilled craftsman can do with simple tools.
Sam and Adrian are a joy to watch. Adie, you are clearly a sheet metal genius. Harry, thank you so much for taking us on this journey. This is bound to be a magnificent little car.
How nice to listen to individuals who want to deliver you the end product that they feel the car deserves. Priceless. A pleasure to watch. So exciting.
Pure craftsman. Take note young folk, this is an area of industry growing and needs to be preserved.
This chap is to panel beating what Bob Ross is to painting, just fabulous to watch. I hope a new generation learns these skills.
To echo some of the other comments on this video, what an absolute privilege to watch a master craftsman turn a flat sheet of metal into a curved bodywork corner panel for the rear of the Lancia Zagato. Not only that, Adrian did it twice, by hand, & they were exactly the same shape/curvature, but handed........... AMAZING! This is my favourite of your 3 ongoing car restoration Harry & I can't wait for the next episode.....hopefully it won't be too long!👍🔥
Nowadays where everything is done by a computer driven machine it is totally wonderful and indeed breathtaking to watch a man of supreme skill carry out his profession. What a lucky man you are Harry to stand next to this man doing what he does. Than you so much for sharing this with us.
Cheers,
Bob
There must be a saying about the only flaw in a genius is that they don't recognise their own genius. Total understated talent from those 2 guys. Lovely to watch.
Genius?! It’s craft pure and simple. What you should be in awe about is society’s total disconnect from basic skills of craftsmanship.
There is enormous pleasure in watching a skilled craftsman make something look so simple. Thanks for sharing, Harry.
True artistry! I wouldn't doubt that a new metal hatch will look and work like the original. This man is a miracle worker with metal!
That's how all those gorgeous custom cars of the '30s were made... by amazing craftsmen like Adrian! Those are some invaluable skills there!
My admiration for this gent and anybody with these kind of skills is boundless.
I know there's more than one way to skin a cat, and different craftsmen may tackle the same job differently, but it baffles me how anyone can give this a thumbs down.
This guy is soooooo good and super modest with it too. He should be on youtube! My new hero!
Well, if you don’t appreciate this mans craft you will never get it, I’m in awe, amazing
I must say that the world needs craftsmen/artists like these guys. It really is as pure a form of artwork as sculpture.
Harry however proves himself to be ‘The Man’ yet again by being such an integral part of his projects, footing the bills, and more importantly recognising the esoteric value of his projects.
I’ve been riveted to this restoration from the start - such a wonderful undervalued little car I suspect that this Lancia is a keeper!
We’ll done Harry and congratulations - get the finger out though because I cant wait to see the finished article!!
Wow. The art of metal-forming demonstrated by a master. What a privilege to witness his craftmanship.
If only sheet metal working was still about this. I sat there in absolute awe. Here's a bloke who knows how to bend a bit of metal right.
Saddens me that master craftsmen like this gentleman are disappearing. A true master of his art.
Artisans. not just simple technicians. I absolutely love this kind of stuff. Absolutely fascinating.
Really enjoying following this restoration. 😀
I have so much more respect to this kind of couchwork cars. Incredible! Im so happy you do this kind of restaurations and shearing the art of how is done. Great stuff
I’ve encountered guys like these during my four decades in engineering, who are either very humble or oblivious to the level of genius they possess. Great work.
Watching skilled craftsmen working their magic never gets old.
The skills shown here are a national treasure. The skills shown also by my dad and his generation, fixed the first Lamborghini in New Zealand which was owned by the French embassy in Wellington.Fabricating in metals, steel ,alloy, lead.Heat forming etc. It would be a real shame if the these skills are lost,we need a new generation to preserve the historic vehicles such as the Lancia Fulvia Zagato.
I awe of a skilled panel beater that can create compound curves with such simple tools. Respect. The car is nice too.
Was ich hier sehe ist wahre Blech-Zauberei. Es ist ein Genuss, diesem Großmeister bei der Arbeit zuzusehen. Gott segne Sie, verehrter Herr.
What I see here is true sheet-metal magic. It is a delight to watch this Grand-Master at work. Good bless you, Sir!
Huge thanks to Adrian and Sam for capturing so much of their incredible work as they created the panels - really well presented and explained for novices like me. Thank you!
That gentleman is a metal wizard, extraordinary.
Artistry in steel.
I love the way that they are telling Harry all the things they are doing, and he's there thinking it was almost finished. :)
Ohh the craftsmanship, I could watch this all day long.
Harry stuttering with incredulity says it all. Amazing craftsmanship and artistry. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I have watched in awe of such amazing skill hat was present in that body shop. I just hope that such skills are passed on to a new breed of panel beaters as to be able to fabricate panels to that standard is awesome. Harry you do know that your car will look better than when it rolled out of the factory as a brand new vehicle.
This Lancia will be 'made in England' by the time it's finished.
Mesmerizing stuff indeed!
It's always a joy to watch real craftsmen at work, however the bill at the end of this is going to be eye-watering!!!
This is about as close to real magic as it gets. The skill and workmanship is truly amazing.
I could watch and listen to that guy work all day - I've done a bit of hammer work over the years, but have never had access to an English Wheel set.
What an amazing craftsman. As others have said, new apprentices are needed before all these skills are lost forever 👏👏👏👏
Body specialists simply redefine what is possible. Pure magic.
It's so much better now Harry. You must be really happy with these fine craftsmen.
A lost art. A glimpse of old school coachwork in 2021. Thanks Harry!
That body shop could have its own show, just brilliant
This is my favourite part of the project. Lovely to see the curves being renewed and all fresh again.
I remember my sheet metal training in the mid '70s but this panel work is a completely different level of skill. Fantastic work and a joy to watch.
That panel beater is worth his weight in gold!!
I like the way that Harry acknowledges that the project will go over budget!
It’s amazing how far the special effects industry has come and how anyone at home such as Harry can now create such realistic imagery using tools such as Adobe After Effects, etc. This is so good that for a moment you believe that such a magician exists and was able to make those panels up using nothing more than a hammer, English wheel and lots of skill. Mind blowing.
I was hoping this week would bring an update on the Lancia. And what an art is in traditional panel beating. Great to watch.
What a proper old school craftsman. Just amazing what he can do with a piece of metal and some hand tools.
Thank you for this video. Obviously investing loads of money to save an interesting car. Just as important is to allow us to see the staff at Prestige recreate the metalwork. This is an artist at work! I know people do this, but until now, I have never seen the magic happen before my eyes. It will be a delight to see this Lancia return to the road.
Thank you again for showing us the process and the staff at Prestige for sharing as well.
Your very lucky to find someone with this much experience to make parts from sheet.. I can't imagine to many are left who work this way! The joy of mass market and profit margins. Puts a smile on my face to watch it.
I am watching an absolute genius craftsman in complete awe, fantastic to see.
Amazing craftsmanship.... Incredible! - Absolute joy to watch
The degree of skill and craftsmanship has be praised to the Nth degree already, and quite rightly so, I do feel I'd like to add my flavour, and that being, with that nice fresh motor, and the car 3/4 ton lighter with all the filler removed, if it was sprightly before, it'll bloody fly now! lol! Happy days!
The old fashioned skill levels of this bloke are unbelievable! 👏👏👏👏👍. Brilliant!
Takes me back to when I started in the Coachworks in 1965. Guy's like this are now very hard to find. Fantastic work.👍
Craftsmanship is above par, wow! The talent is amazing. These medal workers are amazing there is no other word, they are ace. Very few people can do what they do
Fascinating, lovely to see a true craftsman at work 👍🏼
Everybody is impressed by seeing these craftsmen at work, creating new panels with such skill and aplomb. I completely agree, but I’m also excited by the study of the lines and shapes of the car. Ercole Spada was an idiosyncratic genius, and these fantastic films are revealing the care and attention that went into the forms he created. Superficially a simple teardrop, the shape is actually a confection of swages, creases and curves, all of which flow together beautifully. That said, there are a few inconsistencies, particularly in that ruler-straight cantilever of the sills, but they’re all part of the car’s character. I’m really enjoying this deep study of Zagato’s creation. The Fulvia Sport has been overlooked for far too long - hard to believe the design is over fifty years old now - but you’ve shone a new spotlight onto it, and given me, a life-long devotee of the Sport, a new appreciation of it. Thanks Harry.
Fantastic Harry, so proud to have these skilled guys in the UK taking care of classic car business! A hand made tail gate.. superb!
The thinking-ahead, in 3D no less, is stunning. Breathtaking.
Zagato body parts are the most difficult to recreate because of different angles on the same piece. This man is a true master. Respect
The skill in this craft is unreal! Beautiful car being made better than new! Well done indeed to Prestige...
Blimey, this Lancia has had more paint jobs than the Forth Bridge. Still what a treat to see such a craftsman at work. Whatever they're paying him, it's not enough.
The craftsmanship is truly amazing! We have some truly skilled people in this country. Great video thanks 👍
I’m in awe of the metal work skills. He doesn’t it like it’s nothing at all… stunning work.
What an artist! It is so gratifying to watch a true master do his work, makes it look so easy!
Leaves me speechless… this man deserves a medal for sheetmetal bravery…. Top video and bravo Harry for being so audacious!
The panel beater is a total genius!
Trade schools (TAFE in AU) should be banging on this guys door to have him teach the up and comers this trade, his art. What an artist. I could watch him all day do this.
Listen.... i know that it looks is impressive, but i weld a little bit on cars, and i can shrink metal with just a hammer etc.... and the metal craftsmenship this guy does,is almost impossible.... you can do bodywork your whole life and not come close to that man.... i have no words! Thank you harry for shedding light on this guy! Truly truly amazing!
Fantastic craftsmanship.
Great to see people working on car body work and still.using these metal work skills.
There's nothing like watching quality craftsmen at work.
Harry - just roll over and let these two wonderful craftsmen to tickle your tummy....... I'm sure you'll be very happy with the result - thanks for sharing this journey!
What a privilege it is to see this artist at work!
These are the best Harry’s garage videos
That gentlemans mastery is truly remarkable, what an artisan. Lets hope these skills don't get lost in the suffocating guff of the modern world.
Another Rosette will be hanging in Harry's Garage after all this love and attention, outstanding skills
