At 4:12 Dino Brother. There has been a mistake in your explanation. Honda never offered a Rear Disc option for Honda CB Unicorn 160. Ever. Otherwise, i wouldn't have to add a rear disc for my Unicorn 160.

I am confused which bike to go for. In cruiser segment there are not good options. Talking about 150-160 segment segment there is honda hornet 160r, suzuki gixer ( not liked the build up), yamaha fz-s, honda cb unicorn, honda cb shine sp 125. Among the later mentioned what are the best options. I am looking for a comfortable and bike with descent mileage. Suggest any other if u have it in mind. Waiting for ur reply !

Hi Dino, I took test drive of Unicorn 160. I liked it but only issue I felt was the Gear box was not very good. May be it was an issue in test drive bike. Did you face anything like it? Also test drove Gixxer, but felt pillion comfort wont be good, hence rejected. Do you think any other 150 cc bike is better choice. I want good handling, decent pickup for city and pillion comfort and less maintenance.
vivek jaiprakash First up, there must have been something wrong with the test ride bike because I felt the gear shifts were decent enough. There was nothing that bothered me at least. I agree with you when it comes to Gixxer and the pillion seat. Space is almost non-existent for the pillion, but the bike itself is very good. Then we have the fz and the fz version 2.0. The problem with V 2.0 is that it doesn't get a kick starter, so if the battery runs out, you have to start running. :) Given your expectations, the Unicorn 160 seems like the best option, but you can check out the Pulsar 150 AS. It has come out really well maintenance cost is really low for all Bajaj bikes. You can check my review of the same bike too. Also Apache RTR 160 is okay for low maintenance cost and reasonable pillion comfort, but the new Apache series is on the cards, so if possible you could wait for that.

It is a very close call. Both are equally fun to ride and mileage figures are also extremely satisfying. Unicorn is slightly more comfortable and looks wise Gixxer has the edge. Gixxer has fatter rear tyre, but the Unicorn too is a great handler. I would suggest, test ride both and choose the one, which would suit your riding style.
Hello again Dino, I believe we have corresponded earlier on the subject of the Unicorn 160. On a totally different note, I hear Honda is launching a new machine called the Hornet 160R which looks IDENTICAL to the Unicorn 160 on a technical front, only the styling seems to have changed. For some reason Honda seems to be selling the U160 in a different shell - does this mean the Unicorn is not selling well? There has got to be some reason for Honda's experimentation - they tried the Trigger, then the U160m now the Hornet (combination of Trigger and U160). What is the expected price for the Hornet?
+Allan Roy Unicorn 160 is the replacement for the regular Unicorn and has started off pretty well. I've seen quite a number of them of late on the streets of Hyderabad. They are also offering decals option to make it look better. You can check my video regarding that as well. The Hornet will be replacing the trigger and directly taking on the FZ and Gixxer. It comes with a 140 section rear tyre and most probably will come with a retuned engine. Official specs haven't been revealed. It has just been unveiled. They will be launching it by the end of this year and only then we will know the official specs it would carry.

+Nilesh Kale I use Fazer V1 currently bro, I do nearly 50+ kms daily running around dealerships. I have used Avenger too, but I used to get butt pain after long rides. No doubt, it is very comfortable, but that laid back seating posture seems to hurt your lower back. Now however, they have the dual foam cushioning in the seat, so I guess the new Avengers are better. Unicorn 160 is an excellent commuter. The only con is that it doesn't look great. The engine response, refinement, and efficiency is very good. Rule out Shine SP because it offers only sporty performance in the 125 cc category. FZ V2 is okay I guess because of its light weight. Riding a lighter bike feels less stressful bro. Also check out Bajaj V15 - it is very affordable, looks great, and I think is a very decent commuter with low maintenance cost.

Double disc shouldn't be a problem if you are an experienced rider. However, you do get CBS (Combi Brake System) that adds a little more stability. The first lot of bikes arrived here in Hyderabad have come with a single disc, so there are two variants. Either ways it doesn't make much of a difference. All the best and enjoy the ride. :)

For long trips, if comfort is top priority, go for Bajaj Avenger. If fuel efficiency and durability are the priorities, go for CB Shine. Shine is the segment leader in the 125 cc segment. Comfort is adequate and so is fuel efficiency with CB Unicorn 160. I request you to test ride all of the above options and take the decision yourself. Eswar, price wise both are poles apart. Unicorn 160 is around 85k. Discover costs nearly 10-15k lesser. Even performance wise Discover is just a commuter whereas the new Unicorn 160 is supposed to be a streetfighter model like FZ and Gixxer. For that price, Disocver offers great value for money - sport tourer looks with quarter fairing, decent mileage, Y-shapped alloy wheels, Nitrox monoshock, etc. The Unicorn is also very swift, agile, and sporty; at the same time it is comfortable and fuel efficient, and you get a super refined engine from Honda. You can compare Unicorn with Gixxer and FZ. I suggest you test ride all the aforementioned bikes and come to a conclusion. You can also find my reviews of all the bikes I have mentioned above on the same channel. :)

Gixxer is a great bike, but the Unicorn scores higher when it comes to comfort. The seat is longer and cushioning is perfect and not too hard. The seating posture is also ideal for longer commutes. Both are great bikes and offer great value for money. I request you to test ride them yourself because I believe you are the best judge when it comes to deciding which one would suit your riding style. All the best. :)

+Srinivasa Rao If you don't care about looks and are looking for an engine that would last you a lifetime, then go with Unicorn 160. Surprisingly it offers superb fun on the run despite its modest looks. Pulsar 150 is good, but Unicorn 160 is better in terms of engine refinement, comfort, and engine life. IamC You can expect around 50-55 kmpl bro depending upon your riding style and if you stick to the run-in period ethics of not crossing 55 kmpl for the first 1000 kms.

Everything is good except: Switchs are looking like from 110cc hero bike, which really not good looking on this new model. if anyone have waight under 80kg then this bike is not good actually, because the back soccer will only start working if the bike will have more than 100kg rider 😆

Eswar, price wise both are poles apart. Unicorn 160 is around 85k. Discover costs nearly 10-15k lesser. Even performance wise Discover is just a commuter whereas the new Unicorn 160 is supposed to be a streetfighter model like FZ and Gixxer. For that price, Disocver offers great value for money - sport tourer looks with quarter fairing, decent mileage, Y-shapped alloy wheels, Nitrox monoshock, etc. The Unicorn is also very swift, agile, and sporty; at the same time it is comfortable and fuel efficient, and you get a super refined engine from Honda. You can compare Unicorn with Gixxer and FZ. I suggest you test ride all the aforementioned bikes and come to a conclusion. i am planning to by a new bike.whiich one will good for me unicorn160 or gixxer, I'm 6ft height and ride 50km/day.
Gixxer is a great bike, but the Unicorn scores higher when it comes to comfort. The seat is longer and cushioning is perfect and not too hard. The seating posture is also ideal for longer commutes. Both are great bikes and offer great value for money. I request you to test ride them yourself because I believe you are the best judge when it comes to deciding which one would suit your riding style. All the best. :)

+Srinivasa Rao If you don't care about looks and are looking for an engine that would last you a lifetime, then go with Unicorn 160. Surprisingly it offers superb fun on the run despite its modest looks. Pulsar 150 is good, but Unicorn 160 is better in terms of engine refinement, comfort, and engine life. vicky namdev ..i owe a unicorn..i suggest u test drive both..price difference is around 5k..the bike is really good.its low and mid range torgue is very nice.. expect for the seat i felt is too hard as driving for 1 and half hour got me pain in butt..try for avenger 150 also..
