People in Poland remember German "values" and don't want these guys to mess up again. We choose our own way. There is nothing like European values. These guys want Europe perpetuals to be their colony. Look at Greece, Spain, Portugal. Are they happy with their European values?

What is interesting is that while Russian accusations of "Polish" imperialism, is projection of they own Imperialism.
Accusations of German guy are protections of they own insecurities toward authoritarian rule. And while I despise current Polish government, whole conflict is rather issue of interpretation of the Law, then attempt to sizing the power. At least for now. Lot of drama is result of Polish internal conflict between Liberals and Conservatives. Rather then any sort of devious plot. For reminder. Poland was second modern democracy after US.

And first democracy in Europe at all, since 16th century! Germans tend to call Poland "young democracy", like they're an old one, they had brief democracy for 20 years in the period of 1920-1930, that's it. Their democracy is imported from USA since 1945. So much for it.

Poland is the most underrated country in the world. It is situated between two powers, separating Germany and Russia. To rule over the West or the East, one must pass through Poland, which is why there have been so many wars here, and this country has been destroyed from various directions over the centuries. The fact that Poland exists can be called a miracle. Both Germany and Russia will try to prevent Poland from developing too much so that they can keep it under their influence, hence Poland's orientation towards the USA.

    • @arturms4159
      @arturms4159 Год назад +15

The fact that Poland and Poles exist at all is a true miracle and God's providence. Probably no other Nation would have been able to survive, to preserve the continuity of the state, language, culture, traditions, etc. in the very heart of Europe (on the Central European plain, where there are no natural obstacles).... Between two powers; Germany and Russia. The 20th century was a huge disaster for Poland, we lost the largest number of people in percentage terms, the capital was practically completely demolished, communism was forcibly imposed on us, yet we were reborn and Poland is flourishing - both economically and culturally.

Poland represents European values as much as Germany. Is this man so full of himself to dictate all Europeans what European values should be? Germany has no monopoly on them as far as I know. Polish values: Solidarity (All countries in the world are seen as equal partners and treated as well as they treat us); The rule of law and hospitality (Protecting war refugees, not illegal migrants. Enabling human trafficking and let uncontrolled migration in Europe without sufficient security checks is not accepted in Poland); Democracy (Accepting and honoring the outcome of democratic elections in Poland and other European countries and not undermining governments of any country just because we don't agree with their liberal/conservative way of ruling their country); Safety (Protecting Europe from extremism, terrorism, ruscism, nazizm and communism - small letters, no respect); Free speech (Poles can say whatever we want and we don't pay attention to so called political correctness. What you see is what you get). Poland supports Ukraine in almost unlimited way, the grain issue is the only one that we disagree with. Poland has enough grain for our domestic needs and we have every right to block Ukrainian grain coming to Polish market but we allowed them to send their grain further to Germany and any other country through our territory.

The transfer of Ukrainian grain through Poland is going smoothly and has increased month by month over the last year, so Ukraine, among other things, thanks to Polish help, has no problem with shipping grain to its recipients in, for example, Africa. Poles, however, and rightly so, do not want to ruin their agriculture by opening their market to all Ukrainian agricultural products, produced much cheaper, because Ukrainians do not have to comply with high and expensive EU requirements regarding the quality of agricultural production.

Poland has been invaded too many times by its enemies and betrayed too many times by its 'friends' and 'allies' to allow itself to be weak. We Poles understand what independence mean, our grandfathers and fathers shed hectolitres of blood for freedom and independence, we are not an aggressive and revisionist country, but we know how to defend our own land. Still in the context of Russia - I may surprise you, but we do not consider Russia as an enemy, it should be remembered that Poland and Russia do not have any disputed territories, and there is practically no Russian minority in Poland. So let's stop creating hysteria that Poles and Russians are the biggest enemies. Of course we have fought numerous wars with Russia over the centuries, but it is far more often that we have been attacked (and betrayed) by our Western neighbours....We are a country that loves peace, but as the old Latin saying goes - 'Si vis pacem, para bellum' (if you want peace, get ready for war).

"Of course we have fought numerous wars with Russia over the centuries, but it is far more often that we have been attacked (and betrayed) by our Western neighbors...." - I'm not so sure about the "far more often" part, I think it was roughly similar over the history. However, that's history, today it's pretty clear that we are allies with Germany (UE, NATO, strong economic ties) and consider Russia a real threat to our safety and independence.

Wealthy EU member states should support Poland in maintaining its food security by offering fair compensation for Polish farmers if the EU wants cheap grain. It’s right for Poland to protect its own farmers from bankruptcy and it’s what all other well governed countries do. Poland has displayed remarkable generosity since the conflict began. Also… it is within the capabilities of Western nations, and especially the United States, to end this war as soon as they feel like it.

Due to Poland's 🇵🇱 history of being repeatedly invaded, divided and annexed by Germany, Austria, Russia, the Mongols, the Ottomans, the Bolsheviks/Soviets, etc, I get why Poland would want to beef up their army 🪖.
Geographically, Poland is just too easy to invade due to it being so flat.

    • @BBR201
      @BBR201 Год назад +20

Actually, if it was so easy we wouldn't be there today. While you are right about the geography the bigger problem was that those flat fields were surrounded by sizable aggressive neighbors who cooperated and invaded from multiple axes. In most of other cases invaders were destroyed and powered our fields with vital elements for plants to grow. Nevertheless trough our history we had ~20 armed conflicts with rus with them always invading, so the pattern of behavior is pretty clear and our reaction is simply calculated.

Poland situation is complex but optimistic.
Situation on east can be handled by
    - strong military
    - and multi vector foreign policy like “ In between sea alliance concept”
On west situation is more of a “fight against a political intrigue”
It is clear that EU leadership controlled by German led EPP party trying to destabilise situation in Poland to help install Government controlled by EPP. By doing so Eurocrats are in breach of EU and International law and treaties. Sole reason for this is to protect German unfair business advantage. Current Polish government manage to put Polish economy on path of aggressive grow, making Poles far wealthier, and this competition to Germany, France , Holland businesses making Polish government a prime target for them.
So for Poland best course of action on west is.
    - maintaining strong economy
    - rebuilding “intelligence and counterintelligence “ agencies ( past ones was totally infiltrated by Russia or others . Check Polish WSI)
Then Polish can start releasing to public all corruption and tax avoidance evidences of western politicians who are behind constant attacks on Poland.
And when those individual will start paying heavy personal price for its action , it will make anyone think twice before attacking Poland again.
Fortunately political landscape in EU is changing towards right, so that may steam some of leftist hate towards Poles in EU.
So Poland have rather bright future 🇵🇱💪.

As for this dispute with UE Court of Justice, the explanation is simply. It is politically motivated by the current operators of the EU structures and is related to Germany influence. This attack from EU is meant to boost the opposition which is supported by Germany. The opposition is practically a party which protects the German's interests in Poland, which before a current government was a semi-colony of Berlin. To understand why these attacks are pure hypocrisy and baseless you should compare the judicial system of Germany which is strongly depended on politicians, and no "rule of law" arguments are not used in this case. Without delving into details, which clearly show how abominable the EU Court of "Justice" is, one thing should convince you: after this unjustified and unlawful pressure, the Polish government withdrew all changes made (so we have situation as of 2015 when Berlin puppets held power), but still the EU commission have not withdrawn the so called "sanctions".

That’s the deeper historical layer within Polish-Ukrainian relationships and it’s consequences are frustrating Polish people.
During Second World War there was genocide committed by Ukrainian people which ended up of massacre of around 150k-200k innocent Polish civilians by Ukrainian nationalists. This year is 80 anniversary of this massacre and everyone expected Zelenski to at-least allow exhumations of murderd people in Ukraine than Poland. Nothing had happened in this manner even news came out that Ukrainian government allowed Germans to exhume they own Wehrmacht troops. Many say that if exhumations go ahead it will show scale of atrocities and sadistic trauma victims received. This way it might decrease Western help in the war. Also Ukrainian government had hidden this inconvenient historical event from openly spoken in Ukraine.
The other aspect is thousands of young Ukrainian males who bribed their border guards to escape war are now nuisance in Poland. Many of them are drunk everywhere and cause antisocial behaviour towards Polish citizens. This makes many Polish people unhappy with lack of appreciation from Ukrainian side.

The arrogance of this German surprised me as a Pole, to be honest. Even though I am not a supporter of the party currently ruling in Poland, with which we have problems, the position presented by the EU and people who think like this expert is counterproductive. Especially telling us Poles what European values are is simply ridiculous. After all, Poland is far from being an authoritarian country like Turkey or Hungary because, due to history, we value freedom and sovereignty more than countries that have not experienced a history such as Poland's. That's why pigeonholing us into such a category only annoys Poles and turns us against the attempts of interventions in our politics even if they are right.
Moreover, if Western Europe wants to rely on the security guaranteed by countries with with they have ideological differences such as Poland, Turkey and the USA, without increasing their own defense budgets, and on the other hand they think that they can tell them what to do without even paying for it, they are stupid. It doesn't work like that anywhere in the world and it never worked. ;)
As for whether Poles trust NATO, I will say this. They have confidence in NATO and its leadership, which is fresh-minded, but within this NATO there is no doubt that there are weak links like Germany, Hungary, other sluggish countries that had good relations with Russia and pro-Russian trolls placed in politics and that is it which, among other things, threatens European values. In turn, the countries that constitute the core of NATO and determine its strength today are the USA, Great Britain, the Scandinavian countries, Poland and Romania and, paradoxically, also Ukraine.
If there is a problem with the import of Ukrainian grain, it is not a problem that evil Poland does not want to allow its food market to be ruined, but it is a problem that Russia attacked Ukraine and the export of this grain is difficult. This grain fed Africa. We will not solve this problem by having Poles eat this grain now, but by providing Ukraine with military planes and long-range missiles so that they can finally effectively end this war. The discussion about the import of grain by the EU is another substitute problem, not to talk about ways to end what is the cause of these problems.

Poland do not try to undermine court independence. But we recognize that the power of courts can not be absolute. There must be a kind of democratically based control of each branch of the government. That include the courts and it is clearly stipulated by the Article 2 and 4 of Poland's constitution. As of now no such democratic control over the courts is not present in our judicial system. This must be emended.

The thing about the judiciary in Poland is that the majority of society wants changes, because in Poland the judge is not responsible for anything.
For the sentences where he clearly put an innocent man in prison or because of his sentence, the man lost all his property.
Most of these things are not a mistake, but intentional because someone benefited from it.
eg reprivatization how can a judge take a word that a 120-year-old woman buys or sells real estate (without checking whether she is alive) How many people in the world live at this age?
The judge steals money from the counter in the store, ruling that he was distracted.
Should get a penalty (demotion to a lower rank)
Now, if I were a thief and this judge was trying me, I'd tell him I was distracted.
Poland has created an elite of judges, judges are held accountable by judges (i.e. zero penalties)
This needs to be changed, according to the PIS authorities currently ruling in Poland.
But that's the problem, not how they do it.
We are coming to a situation where reforms need to be carried out, but not in this way.
The EU has ordered the money to be blocked and says it has everything to go back to what it was in the rule of law.
Where judges are a caste, they are unshakeable.
And it is a paradox that the EU defends the caste and allows them everything, while Pis wants a bad change in the judiciary.
So, in my humble opinion, yes, reforms are needed.
But I don't agree with how PiS is doing it, and I don't agree with the EU that makes caste continue to rule in Poland.

Like, government shouldnt have any way how to impact judges. You can change system without taking indirect control over courts, theynjust are at majority power and they can get foothold for years to come even if fail lobby changes as they want.
Similiar situation with israel. You can change judicial system, if you wan to, without grabbing power for yourself. But why shouls you do that, if you can enrich yourself or increase your political power for zealous reforms in future.

@@Paparapatheraper-POL I'm sorry, but you are obviously repeating Polish government's propaganda 1 to 1, and even use the exact same propaganda terms they do (like calling all judges "kasta" - the "caste", no one else does that). A few frindge cases, like some cases of wrong sentences or some judge being cought shoplifting (sic!) are no reason to throw the entire judiciary system under the bus. And the truth is, that: A) all of the reforms enacted so far by the Law & Justice government didn't do anything to improve the functioning of courts, if anything court trials take even longer now than they did a few years ago; and B) reforming judiciary system in order to fix it was never a problem, and EU has nothing against that. The problem is that many of the reforms proposed by Law & Justice aim to make the whole system subservient to politicians and the government, and in the process destroying courts' independence, which is one of the core values not only of the EU, but all democracies in general. Just look at what is happening in Israel right now, they are not in the EU, yet they have massive protests on the streets for the exact same reason, because their government (Netanyahu) is also destroying judiciary independence.

Currently Poland has huge internal conflict between Liberal and Conservative side. What tend to bleed, but its not actually as bad as people think. Law issue is more due to interpretation of the law, rather then deliberate attempt of authoritarian rule.
As for Russia. There is such saying. Russia has only enemies and the slaves. Polish investments are purely defensive and all threats and accusations or Russia toward Poland, are mostly mental projections of they own Imperial and Colonial intentions.
