Sandra is using 18 and 20 gauge dead-soft wire in this tutorial, but you can use any gauge you'd like. However, keep in mind the size of the gauge in diameters versus the size of the hole you'll be passing it through. You'll want to choose a gauge that the bead hole will accommodate. Sandra used round-nose pliers to form the circles.
You fail to mention the gauges you should use.
Hello Jan. Head pins can be made with any gauge. We wanted to show the technique so that if someone wanted to use 16 gauge or 26 gauge, they would know the technique. Now, standard head pins are typically around 20-22 gauge. Maybe that's what you were looking for?
