I never tried the 1999 model so I can not have an opinion on this older model. The 2003 model is fun. The TW 125's engine is more known for its high reliability and simplicity than for its performances in terms of speed and acceleration.

I have tw200 2006 , it's fast and fun but tank so small to hit reserve , so i change to custom harley eighty tank . love it. But old model 1988 still great and original got kickstart. i sent my bike to shop to mod the kickstart kits. great for everyuthing

After some research, yes, it seems that their engines are the same. So they are likely to have almost the same performances.

I ride the tw200. It is great in wet trails. But the stock front tire sucks. Get a kenda k270.
