  • So I set out today to ride a Triumph Speed 400, unknowingly to me it was actually Labor day here in Portugal. So I decided to ride around the route and familiarise myself with the local roads prior to riding the T400. Benafim is a picturesque mountain town situated on a cross roads and seems to be a cyclist and biker stopping point...

    So good to see those dry warm roads - the uk is still cold and wet and want to get out on my TBird.

      Hi Ian, gotta break into sunshine soon. It must be that pesky Jetstream, at least that is what they said was causing the abnormal weather last year. My Dad is well up for an outing me on the BSA and him on his Tbird. Hopefully next month.

    I am in the same position with regard using MS Teams to connect at work, as I work from home. It is a little detached. However, riding the bikes let's me talk to others and it seems so much more human 😆. Great video and looking forward to your next venture 👍

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Mark, I went out on it, my take home was it's a good little bike but it's not really a retro or a classic. It's more a street bike with a round headlight and faux fins on the engine. I can forgive ALOT however because its £4999, very hard to beat that. Well I won't spoil all the video but broadly liked it. Thanks 😊

    Get inland, and it's quiet, but the N125 is dangerous. Statistically, one of the most dangerous roads in Europe, along with the Avenida Marginal which runs from Lisbon to Cascais. I ride a lot between Lagos an Sagres and north. Can't wait for my Spanish trip this summer.
    Nice to see the old place. Nick

      I heard today Nick, no one rides (the nice motorcycle roads anyway) south of the A22, probably true. I was back on the N125 today, I keep extra eyes out while on that road, people have no qualms about driving right up behind you, there's often sudden braking situation because of all the roundabouts... yes you're right it's not a fun place. We are back over to Lagos tomorrow. Thanks, Sean

    Hey Sean and Suzie. Nice to see you were able to do some leisurely exploring on the BSA. Portugal is beautiful place and the deserted roads are a dream come true. Finally got some warm ,sunny weather here and was able to have a relaxing solo ride today of about 200 km. Felt good and chased away the SAD( seasonal affected disorder ). Look forward to seeing your Triumph test ride soon. Cheers and ride safe, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦

      Ah Dan so glad you were able to get out and glad you did some miles in the saddle. By chance I ended up doing 170miles today too, just ended up going and going but the weather and the roads were on our side so just needed fuel and water, ive not got SAD since leaving the UK. I bet Canada is lovely in the spring, I mean outside of the cities I bet the landscape is stunning...

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist Great to hear that Sean. 170 miles is a good day especially in Portugal. Yes, Canada has some beautiful scenery in Spring and Autumn, and this huge country is mostly uninhabited. But Toronto is just concrete and steel and lots of people. Been here about 12 years and have had enough of it, so looking for a change. Enjoy your channel very much and love the BSA. Stay safe.

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist Hi Sean. I recently sold my ‘84 Honda Shadow750 Custom and downsized to a ‘81 Honda GL500. I like vintage and classic bikes and the Shadow was the newest bike I’ve ever had. Probably why I like the RE lineup and your BSA so much. All great looking retro bikes. The GL is easy maintenance, low mileage ,shaft drive and I trust Honda reliability. And recently around here there have been numerous speed limit reductions and more speed camera installations so It’s making less sense riding a bike capable of 200kph when you can’t possibly use it. But I’m still hoping to buy a good used retro classic like yours. ✌️🏍

    Sean, do you have any idea how many times per minute you check your indicators are off? 😅 me too!

    • @MindfulMotorcyclist
      @MindfulMotorcyclist  2 месяца назад +1

      I'm mad on that now, can't stop doing it. I used to be a prolific leaver on of indicators! Perhaps I'm doing it more as I'm scared of the drivers over here 😂😂. So I did 170 miles today, most I've ever done on the BSA. Slight sore bum but I think with bar risers that shift it back I can sit on the plusher part of the seat. All in tho a comfy ride and about 140-150 miles until reserve. The turns I'm still not confident on those pirellis even in the heat and smooth tarmac. Some proper tyres and I could see myself scraping the pegs. Will probably return the scrambler tyres and get some sport touring items. Still undecided however. Thanks 😊

    About 6 years ago I was sitting outside a hotel in northern Spain when a group of H-D's turned up, the riders all wearing patches. They were staying in the same hotel and I was mocking their ridiculous-sounding 'gang name' to my wife. A couple of hours later when we went to bed I nipped onto the laptop to see who this group were with their ridiculous sounding name. Suffice to say I didn't mock them the next morning at breakfast....

      😂😂 well I had my 'transgression' with that chap I intervened with the photographer didn't I. He was from the Angels and my gosh he was unhinged. I believe he said I'd be slaughtered by his mates. Very scary language, was it true, I'll never know and find it easier to laugh at now looking back but it's not something I'd ever want to test or find out the hard way. Not like you to be quiet at breakfast Bib 😀😆

      @@MindfulMotorcyclist I am in Warwickshire, and yesterday was just the pits. 24 hours of rain. None-stop. It's actually a dry this morning and once the roads dry out I'm off to the Cotswolds for a mental recharge (that's how I view my bike!)
      I always find myself torn which bike to use. The ZZR1400 is so comfortable but not ideal on the smaller country roads. The NC750 is extremely practical, but there is little 'fun-factor' riding it...Nonetheless, I'm just happy it's not raining today....

      We are going back to Worcester in a few weeks Bib, just around the M42 and a bit down the M5 from you. We will ideally sort out our house and try to sell some stuff etc. That all day rain really sucks but Wales and the cotswolds are lovely to ride when the sun is out. I still have confidence that the summer will be decent this year, July and August got to be hot... right 😂. P.s what you want is a ZZR1400 with a frunk 😆. I'd love to have helmet storage on the bike 🏍
