Unpopular opinion. I think they're better as the driver era. R5 wasn't mature enough for them and the driver era is a new more mature era. They started R5 when they were teenagers and now they're all over 21 and need something more mature. This fits so well, I am very sad that all 5 of them aren't the driver era but this is amazing regardless.

No offense to r5 and the style of music they pursued, but I feel the driver era's music has more potential for success. This song has a great vibe and I'm already looking forward to the whole album. Can't wait!

R5 was starting to put out much more mature music (if, hurts good, etc) but the name R5 was associated with Disney too much that it wasn’t going anywhere.
I think the biggest thing is that R5 (being started by basically kids) went with a genre that already has too much in it. Pop with a tinge of punk is so used by most bands out there that it's no longer a niche. Plus as disney kids, most of their fanbase then, grew up, they started venturing out (speaking from personal experience here). My favorite song by R5 was Heart Made Up On You, which was the most experimental they got. I think now, as they're older and have more mature goals, they make music that they feel rather than what they think will make them popular. This new alternative experimental style, ironically, will probably be what propels them.

Ross changed his hair color for a part in the Sabrina TV show. Why Rocky did it because he likes to make changes and he was a blond as a child. I do hope they will change again when Ross makes another movie maybe.
