Quality Haircuts in Vietnam Cheaper Than a Pair of Scissors in America

- I get a professional quality haircut here in District 1, Saigon, Vietnam, for only 60k vnd, or about $2.50. This haircut is cheaper than buying just a pair of scissors in America. The staff are very skilled and professional, and offer all of the services and amenities that you would receive at a top level barber shop in the USA.
I was accompanied by my girlfriend on this haircut travel vlog. First we walked through a local alley neighborhood to see if we could find a barbershop in there. When we were unable to find one there, we asked the local residents where the nearest barbershops were, and they pointed us in the right direction.
After a short walk, we made it to a hair salon called Cắt Tóc Nguyễn Dương.
I noticed the sign on the window said “giá bình dân”, which means “affordable price”.
The guy who cut my hair was named Tien, and as soon as I showed him a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like, he understood the assignment and did an excellent job.
The barbershop does more than just haircuts. The also do ear cleanings, acne removal, shampoo, massages, and more. I also ended up getting a shampoo and head and neck massage which only cost another 60k vnd. The total price was 120k vnd, I gave an 80k tip, and paid a total of 200k vnd, which is less than $9.
The barber really took his time and made sure to address all the details of the haircut. He also used a straight razor at the end to fine tune the edges of the hair line. The girl who did the shampoo and massage was gentle, yet also strong enough to give a decent massage and a thorough shampoo. Both of the employees who helped me were great at their job, and I left feeling like I got a great value.
The barbershop is a very short walking distance from Bui Vien Party Street in Pham Ngu Lao Ward of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. For anyone traveling to Vietnam and looking for a cheap and relaxing trip to the hair salon, come check out this barbershop:

Best haircuts I’ve ever had in my life were in Saigon. Around $4 and they spend 30 minutes to an hour on me normally unlike here in the U.S. $30 for a 12 minute cut
very true...way more attention to detail and pride in the work it seems like. Though some places will just rush through the cut, but once you find a good one it's such a great value
Just a haircut alone is $30 USD where I live. You got a fantastic deal there Tyler. Nice video. Thanks.
yeah that seems to be the minimum (not including a tip) in the US
Great job speaking Vietnamese 👏🏻👏🏻 Your gf is a great teacher!
Thank you! 😃
I like your haircut. Your Vietnamese is good and cute. Try to learn more and speak more Vietnamese because most Vietnamese viewers really enjoy hearing foreigners speak Vietnamese. When a foreigner speaks Vietnamese, they think you like their culture, and in return, more of them will watch your videos.
cheers I like trying to speak Vietnamese too
Good haircut in Vietnam, brother
Cheers
100 💯 for your and Trang’s effort speaking and teaching Vietnamese ❤
You are doing very well
Thank you! 😃
Good barber, nice haircut. Great attention to detail
Definitely
Great video!
thanks!
Love those "binh dan" places, be it eateries or hair cut or alter shop. Great deal in VN. Here in the US, it costs so damn much and not nearly the shaving and ear cleaning services either. Add in the mandatory tip and I get the urge to let my hair grow and become a hippie. Your hairstyle looks great on you.
Thanks for the compliment! Haha yeah seriously, maybe the hippies were on to something with the long hair...saves money
Loved this video and especially the impromptu vietnamese lesson. I am also learning Vietnamese with help by my vietnamese wife. Great video and you look Sharp!!!
Cheers thank you!
G'day guys, Hey definitely looks better than the coconut hair style haha 🤣 cheers for the video now i know where to go for a haircut while I'm in Saigon 👍
Cheers definitely a good spot at a good price
Not sure if the guy next to you realized he was on video he was enjoying a good nose pick ;). Was in HCM last year for about 3 weeks enjoyed the city will be coming back next year. Appreciate the videos on local culture. If you set up a "Buy me a cup of coffee" I'd be happy to contribute.
Nice haircut on you 🤗👍’ always nice to have your girl with you “ she’s so nice to you “
😊 thank you
I have never explored the alleys of HCM despite visiting the city countless times.
This look fun, I need to do this.
yeah definitely...I've got several other alley exploration videos to check out on my channel too. Should be a playlist called "Saigon Alleys"
You are look good with a neat short haircut. GQ my friend....😊
😊 thank you
Good morning from Jamaica. You certainly hav lost a lot of weight 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼congrats to you. The shorter hair looks good on you, looking like a 25year old. 👍
Thank you! Cheers from Vietnam to Jamaica
That was a very nice haircut, you look very handsome, but then again you would still look good with a totally shaven head.
haha just not the coconut cut
Tóc đẹp đấy. Không hiểu sao "cắt" trong tiếng Việt cũng tương đương "cut" trong tiếng Anh. Phát âm giống nhau.
Your girlfriend asking you questions and you responding in viet is the best part.
The haircut took years off you, as did the smile on your face.
Cheers I appreciate that
I've never been to alleys like that before. So densely populated
yeah let's go together sometime it's pretty cool
Nice haircut and good price, also close. Do they clean your ears if you want that? Nice people there too
Cheers I think so too...yeah they do ear cleanings too
Nice Haircut at an awesome price!!!
cheers thank you
A bit of extra nerdy knowledge for you. That barber didn't use a straight razor. He used what we call a shavette. The shavette takes a half DE blade, whilst a straight is itself like a knife which needs sharpening and maintaining.
ah interesting thank you
@@BigTimeBentley traditional shaving is one of the things I am passionate about.
At 9:50, would love to know what she is saying in the back of the video to her friend.
In keeping with the humorous theme of "nose picking" from the previous vlog, check out the fellow in the grey t-shirt in the chair next to Tyler's. 👉👃. 😁
haha
😎👍
cheers bro
That guy beside you in the barber shop was seriously digging for gold. I think he struck it once or twice
49er
@@BigTimeBentley oh wow. A football fan and a gold digger!
that was more of a gold rush reference but maybe he likes the football team too@@johnq9502
@@BigTimeBentley I know it was a gold rush reference. I was trying to use a little bit of your style of humor!!
Hey! I'm in Ho Chi min as well, would you like to do a video together, asking how is it living here? :)
Living here is great...what kind of a video did you want to do?
@@BigTimeBentley I was thinking an interview to expats (in this case you) and telling your story, how is it living here, why you moved here, pros and cons, .. :) the only thing is that I’m living tomorrow night unfortunately and I discovered your page just before
It is $35 for a haircut in the US but no guarantee will make you handsome :) not like in Vietmane
yeah I remember paying that last time I was back home...and that was at supercuts/fantastic sams which basically rush through your haircut
You are not only Dep Trai but very attractive as well . Ha Ha noi gion mot chut cho vui , chu I am not pédé .
lol cheers
Ha Ha ! I love kidding @@BigTimeBentley
You should have went a little shorter..loos good but you look like Heatmeiser
lol who is Heatmeier?
@@BigTimeBentley sorry it is Heatmeiser. It was a character from some of the claymation Christmas cartoons of the 1980’s. Look him up
