Nihilistic Snake nowadays he does, but he recorded "images and words" and "when dream and day unite" with 4 string basses, Spector and Music Man Stingray respectively.
@@faustinogarciabassplayer3174 Man weird coming across this and seeing I commented 5 years ago haha! Plus this sounds unmistakably like a spector! And the MM 4 string Sting Ray's he used in the early days on Day and Dream was a Single H Ray 4 with a Neck pickup wired to a separate output for a dual output bass :)
You’re looking for 05:35 I can play this segment much slower, it’s not too hard once you get the hang of it. However the speed John is doing it at is f*cking ludicrous AF!
AFAIK, it's all about how it sounds with everything mixed in. Their recent material sounds similar when isolated, but when everything is mixed together it sounds punchy rather than sloppy.
even i thought it sounded sloppy but it goes perfectly with the original song and the tons of effects myung uses changes the sound to stuff more tighter when heard with the other instruments.
100% CORRECT!!! Raw and isolated instruments never sound great until the final mix-down...I've put down vocal tracks, instrument tracks, etc..once it all comes together, it's amazing! I've never heard anyone's raw tracks ever sound amazing on their own...especially raw vocals and bass guitar tracks...fret buzz, string impact...just like Myung's...but in the final mix...it sounds perfect!
Thank you so much! I've been waited years hoping to find bass tracks from their first works. Where did you get this and the others from Images and Words? Any chance to hear other bass tracks?
I got to say, I find his tone to be pretty dang shit, and it's always so quiet in the mix. I don't get it, but it's better than his tone on Ytse Jam tho, that's for sure.
Theodor Leijonberg Andreassen I think you just can't distinguish the bass in the song from guitar or drum. If the bass was any louder in the mix, the entire song would sound too thick and muffled
I dont thini the bass is quiet in the miss lol. Put a song of dream theater in any speaker and hear with attention, the bass is there. Specially in "the mirror" the bass looks like it's even louder than the guitar
3:25 - The Dark Eternal Night
It's weird hearing his tone from back when he used spectors isolated like this, weird to think it's a 4 string too haha!
John uses 6 string basses
Nihilistic Snake nowadays he does, but he recorded "images and words" and "when dream and day unite" with 4 string basses, Spector and Music Man Stingray respectively.
He used a 4 String Spector to record I&W. Marlon and Attitude Castle are correct

@@Marlon2112 interesting
But than how did he get the low C# in "take the time" octave pedal (im not being cynical i actually am interested)
5:36😍😍😍
You’re looking for 05:35

wish I can hear isolated tracks of John, Mike and Kevin too! thanks for uploading Myung's!
5:34
Definitely a Spector, with more emphasis on the bridge pickup. That EMG and HazLab Preamp combo is unmistakable.
THANK YOU for uploading this! I've been looking for something like this for a long time now!
Thank you for posting DT STEMS!!!

please more tracks of dream :D, this is a good work!
4:46 Lifting Shadows Of A Dream reference. :-)
Instrumental Section: 4:16

I hear it too :D But surely it's the other way around. LSOAD was made after Metropolis Pt. 1 ;)

Just imagine listening this song with a meze Empyrean. It must be incredible
03:25 - Dark Eternal Night? Before the Systematic Chaos was created?
If you think 5:35 is hard, try playing 4:29.
any chance of a version without bass ? to play along with
Well, this was only their second album.
And is more audible in the mix than the recent ones
Any chance you can upload the other stems that you had a while ago?
Can you please do keyboard
It's not something he does.
Bem legal!
Huehuehue
How did you get this? :)
It sounds way sloppier than his/the band's later work.
actually, to be honest, he sounds like how I play
Seems like he didn't have the speed down. But I don't blame him

I feel this is a common rock bass sound, and works within in mix. Listen to a Geddy Lee iso, or this ruclips.net/video/qSYuse9o8KI/видео.html
it obviously sounds shit when not in the mix. if he was soloing it wouldn’t sound like that. Ever notice that when it’s in the mix it sounds good?

Sounds like he needs to change Strings
This sounds terrible. Can’t be real.
its real
this is absolutely the original track
