Joe Biden and John McCain were friends. Biden publicly has credited John McCain for his son's Beau's courage in fighting cancer. It shows how much Democrats and Republicans can come together and work together for this country. Both have worked together to try and cross the lines of difference to do something that benefits all Americans. But most of all, it shows that these two were friends and Americans first. McCain's legacy does live on even after he has moved on. John McCain is what a true Republican should be.

McCain was a giant of a man and a great American hero. I just watched his concession speech again after losing to Obama - it’s magnificent. If you’re a true patriot it wouldn’t surprise me if it drew a tear. Trump supporters should really ask themselves what they admire about the man.
Undoubtedly McCain was a man to be remembered. A man who served his country proud and put his life on the line for many others. And a man to run for president and even have the pride and bravery to protect his former opponent President Obama. He was a man of courage and a man of heart. I agree with you fully Phil... watching the campaign of 2008 and seeing McCain defend his rival made me emotional on many levels. He died a great man! And a wonderful father.

It's hardly surprising that a human being of Trump's character stoops to this level. What is surprising is that half of US still strongly support him, some fanaticly... Polictics aside, how basic attributes such as human decency, character, integrity are not what people look for in their president is something that I could never wrap my head around.

I lost my mom to glioblastoma. She was 57. I have so much respect for every person and their family who is affected by that godforsaken cancer. I know it is impossible for trump to feel shame or humility, (I am not bothering to capitalize his name anymore because he doesn't even deserve that minor grammatical decency) but by God I hope the Republican party speaks up in their entirety in response to this. This is despicable. No veteran should ever be talked about in this manner.

I live in Arizona and a pro peace progressive. Now I never agreed with John McCain on the war or other issues but I had the most respect for him and if I could at the time vote for him in the 2000 election. John McCain had class and was well respected. I could forgive [not Cheney, Rummsfield, or Karl Rove] his pro war stance with Iraq. He still was a statesman and went against Trump. Most voters in Arizona remember John McCain and went against Trump.
