    We love BAND. Used it for dance team and it's great! I think the idea of socialization is overblown as well, but it has been hard for us to find any friends. Our church lacks families with kids around our age so it's been tough. Our local high schoolers take 7 classes a year, but the numbers dwindle around Jr/Sr years. We're starting with 7 and reducing as needed.

    Hi Ashlee! My oldest will be 11 this year, and although we still have a few years to go before high school, I find your video very insightful!
    I would love to know if your screen time rules have changed now that your kiddos are older? I heard you say that something that keeps them motivated to get their school work done is that they know they will have free time, and that makes total sense! I would love to know more about what that free time encompasses, and I was wondering if video games/tv/shows was part of that free time, or what is allowed and encouraged during that window of free time?
    I try to be limiting when it comes to screen time, but sometimes I don’t know if I’m “over the top”. If it could be used as a motivator for my kids to work diligently, and then have the option of *some* screen time, of course within reason, then I might need to consider. Sometimes I feel as if I treat screens like they’re the enemy, and I don’t want to inflict that on my kids, when screens can be a useful tool.
    My kids only want screen time to play Roblox (and yes I monitor what they play on there), so I guess it’s not entirely being senselessly entertained, but I’d love to know what your limits and allowances are on that!
    I really find your knowledge very encouraging and insightful, as I am only 2 years into this journey, with a toddler in tow, and still sometimes feel like I’m all over the place, but you feel like a big sister who’s already gone before me and I truly value all of the wisdom you share on here with us! ❤

    For those of us who have children who don’t want to pursue college but would rather do a trade but need 4 English credits…..how do you make TGATB work? They only have 3 English courses. And trying to jump into another curriculum isn’t always a smooth transition. If your kids didn’t want to do duel classes what would you do for that 4th English credit? Thank you.

    My oldest is headed into 9th grade and I’m trying to figure out how to assign credits for some courses that may count towards her graduation requirements. She’s starting aviation ground school and working towards being a pilot but I can’t figure out if those courses are just a career elective credit or can count towards science and math? • @GraceandGrit

      Anything typically taken in highschool (so the level of the course study) determines that.

      Sorry I should have specified that I have year one of TGATB and just wasn't sure what to do with it now that they are making a new one. Is it worth using it since they are getting rid of it, or better to go with a different company altogether for this specific subject? I only have year one so I wasn't sure if I'd need all 4 years to make it complete, if that makes sense

    Thank you Ashlee for sharing all your advice and knowledge around homeschooling. It has been so helpful to me. My daughter did Shormann math last year for her seventh grade and although she did very well at it, it took her 2+ hours every day, which is obviously not ideal or realistic. This year she's using Math U See for Algebra but as the years go on I'd like to have her do math on the computer and utilize the auto grading. Would you suggest we give it another shot for next year with Shormann math? Is that a typical amount of time it takes? She did like that math curriculum. Thank you again!

      I’ve heard a lot of recommendations for Denison Math for kiddos that struggle with mathematics.

    • @MichelleBrebrich
      @MichelleBrebrich 6 месяцев назад

      @@catherinepeacock8301 thank you, we will look into that, however she didn’t really seem to have trouble with math, she did really well so I was always puzzled at why it took so long. Perhaps she was bored or uninterested and would get distracted, which may go hand in hand with what Ashlee was saying in this video since she did her math not at the table where I was able to monitor her.

    • @jhaub305
      @jhaub305 6 месяцев назад

      Highly recommend Denison. We just started it this year. We are using pre-algebra for my 7th grader who is not amazing or terrible at math, and he is loving this curriculum. He is grasping it really well, and he is completing lessons in about 30 min.
