The Medicine Buddha Hall refers to is known as Yakushi Nyorai. As with early Christians, many peoples around the world have believed that much of the root cause of sickness lies in the breaking of, or turning away from, universal or spiritual laws. By extension, many healing sects and cults have prescribed spiritual solutions to these problems, including the practices of meditation, contemplation and relaxation.
Almost 60 years later, the points Mr. Hall makes are just as relevant today.

Manly P. Hall saved my mind from exploding. I'm reminded of those things I care about most such as the spirit and soul in me. And doing what is right even though the world condemn it, so I lost the reason why to be on the side of right. Until he reminded me. Manly P. Hall has even been the spirit I asked for when I was being attacked. And he helped me.
At first I heard those war stories I panicked. Then he said "Look to the future."
Which is easy for me since I read Tarot and now also The I Ching. It's probably going to be a rough one thousand years though, for man I heard but oh well. It's still gunna be ok. And the war rages on while I write these words taking a chance hope that you can read between those the lines.

For a man to speak SO MUCH about LAW and importance of maintenance in ones life for any kind of real growth, I wish he would clarify what laws these are exactly. My mind automatically goes to the Torah of Moses. How do I honor Laws I'm unaware exist? Nevermind. I know I must broaden my search.
We believe Mr. Hall purposefully kept the exact definition of Universal Laws somewhat obscure, so that we can come to the conclusions on our own. That stated, he quite often spoke about the Law of Cause and Effect.

As a former prisoner this fact so eloquently broken down by Mr.Hall has changed my entire life,mind and overall attitude. When you understand cause/ effect you understand the Law of everything. I don’t know that, but I can say if one goes against the principles by which he navigates life with, to manipulate for winning a argument or petty egotistical gain is a pathological sickness by thought form toxicity.
Books are as many as there are methods to achieve one goal and that's the principle... Mr hall is well versed in his principles... from that you start throwing out books that you don't feel the method is portraying correctly... whether that be hall or any other author you read.... but yes the more you read you'll find that most are on the same principle....

Did Manly Hall actually support eugenics..? At around 50:25, he mentions that we have given primitive peoples "eugenics", and he said that that was very essential to them.
I have been a fan of his work for a long time, but that would be very strange and sad to me if he actually supported something like eugenics. Any one know more about that?

Interesting question. A quick search of our transcripts has him mentioning 'eugenics' several times, and always in the same sentence as hygiene. He may be referring to underdeveloped parts of the population that have more children than they can care for, as well as lacking in basic skills to keep existing children healthy. Thank you for bringing this up.

It's titled: "The Beatnik in All of Us: A Study in Defeatism" recorded March 6, 1963. This lecture still exists, but the audio tape has not been digitized. We do not have access to it, but you may want to contact the Philosophical Research Society (prs.org) and ask them.

There's a lot of concern here for me. On the one hand, I understand mental and spiritual alignment w the universe and natural processes. On the other, and Hall admits that there is a systemic, that is, a socio-economic problem around 45 minutes, we need a systematic transformation of bvn ourbsocio economic structure. He says, in that 45min mark-ish, that after science and medicine comes the television, radio, and etc. And I couldn't help wonder if Manly held Capitalism as unquestionable, or an adequate advance, 'cause he seems to have some criticisms. Why not make mention of Socialism as an option?

And before you bash capitalism again, it’s important to know that capitalism is no longer being practiced in any nation anywhere in the world. Governments are heavily involved in everything, so more government cannot possibly be the answer. Theft is a violation of natural law, thus socialism is immoral and an absolute disgrace to the universe.

Great idea!
They'd likely need more people donating in order to get higher quality videos. Plus, Manly Hall gave these lectures without any visual aids for the audience, they were entirely auditory. Not saying they wouldn't help some people at all, but it's good to keep the context in how these were delivered, compared to what's being offered in modern times.
His lectures are packed with immense amounts of wisdom which require considerable reflection from the student, as his lectures were intended, rather than increasing amounts of external distractions.
