We just got a new CNC and even after four weeks I am still discovering new and updated technology. It has a 134 tool magazine on one side and on the back has full size heads. 90° heads, arbor supported milling heads, etc.and all the heads will accept all the tooling from the magazine. Just incredible. Plus, we got the new PH Horn tooling with the heat shrink collets. You put the tool holder body into an induction heater that heats up the collet to expand it, insert the tool and when it cools, it shrinks back to size and has zero clearance. Zero runout, total rigidity. That has been around a while now, but the lengths they have gone to make it so user friendly and accurate is astounding.

Crazy how far machines have come along. I used too work in a tool and die shop (closed in Feb, 2003) and used to go too IMTS. Some machines like this were just coming out. Would have been sweet too show when it does tool changes.

The Tolerances achieved by this manufacturing process must quite astounding and far above anything achieved by human machinists
the DMU 80 linear has a tolerance of 30 micron's , 3/10's the width of a human hair
Actually manual machinists can do better but it takes years of experience but CNCs you can be almost as good within 2-3 years
cenexes 12 30 microns is massive. The ntx2000 here has a measured accuracy of 0.0005
