Epic Freight Train Rescue at Wigan - 05th April 2019

In what must be the working of the year 37518 & 33029 rescue 66603 which had failed on the Shap Quarry to Tunstead empty stone train. The 66 limped into and through preston before giving up the ghost at Euxton Balshaw Lane and vintage diesel locomotives 37519 & 33029 were despatched from Carnforth TMD to assist.
Seen here at Wigan North Western the old girls are already clawing back some of the considerable delay minutes whilst dragging the whole ensable to Crewe Basford Hall where Freightliner would replace their loco with something with a bit more life in it.
Since it's Friday there's a bonus shot too, 33029 & 37518 heading home a couple of hours later where we once again narrowly avoid being bowled this time by a TPE. The pair were running on a single yellow which cleared to green as the two got half way up the platform, hence the late thrash...
This most certainly has to be the working of the year through Wigan, I really don't think we will beat this one in 2019. A huge shout out to Kev for the last minute gen on this one when 1Z99 was already en-route...

Brilliant video.
I had checked rtt about 30 mins before these were booked and nothing was due 30 mins later I hear a 37 roaring past then checked rtt and this was booked haha gutted.
