mind blowing as a 19 year old and still mind blowing 26 years later...a great moment in tv history, the marriage of heaven and hell..and no one gets out of here alive..with the original music
I remember watching this on TV and forever the "Knights in White Satin" song is etched with this episode of Wiseguy! If you watched this season from the first episode up until this finale, it was an emotional episode that I've rarely enjoyed other shows achieving!
Ray Sharkey was an outstanding talent that shouldn't be forgotten, not only as an actor but as an early casualty to AIDS. More federal attention to that disease might have saved millions. Thanks for preserving Sonny Stealgrave, the best character he brought to life.
Yeah Ray Sharkey was a great actor and no one should suffer from HIV/AIDS, but just like late NASCAR driver Tim Richmond, he hid his illness and infected a lot of women w/ that virus like actress Elena Monica (from Ray Sharkey), both actress/model LaGena Lookabill and Karen Beasley (from Tim Richmond). I also know during that time, nobody knew that much about that virus and was labeled as GRID. It was a time of a lot of unknowns.
Wow! I haven't seen this since it aired. Wiseguy had some of the best writers and storylines ever. The Sonny Steelegrave arc was the best of this series. NIWS- I always think of this show whenever I hear that song. Thanks posting this gem.
Without a doubt, the Sonny Steelgrave was the best ARC of the series. And, this finale was mind blowing at the time. Superb acting in a superior series.
The best story on Wiseguy by far. The final scene with Vinny and Sonny fighting listening to Knights in White Satin will never be duplicated. Best final ever by far. I have to come back and watch this along with the 10 minute scene of them fighting and then listening to Knights in White Satin. Titled "Wiseguy - (Nights in White Satin) and then watch this one. Been watching it about once a month for years. Both great actors.
I totally agree!! The story with Ray Sharkey was the best. Even 2 time Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey's storyline was bizarre and awesome at the same time. Wiseguy was the best it's first 2 seasons. Ray Sharkey, RIP!! Kevin Spacey, great job!!
I taped every show of Wise Guy and watched it again. The actors, Sonny Steelgrave and Vinnie Taranova were brilliantly cast, and the shocking story line drew me in. Everyone who ever watched it loved it. When they killed off Sonny, that was the end of the best of Wise Guy. That was a big big mistake because the role of Sonny was so believable. The writing was the best. I was gifted the entire Wiseguy on DVD.
I had no idea about this series except reading that Jonathan Banks won awards for it, but I stumbled across these Sonny Steelgrave episodes. I had never heard of the actor Ray Sharkey or his crazy-ass life, but he nailed this part with an intensity that was not clownish or too far over the top . This finale was terrific, extremely well-written and acted.
I wish there was a boxed set of this first season. I still think about this show. Things are always reminding me of it. Really stuck with me. It was sooooooooooooooooooo good.
Decades TV just started the garment Trade arc with Jerry Lewis, Ron Silver, and Stanley Tucci. Awesome. The end of the Steelgrave arc still rips me up inside.
Thanks for posting, I saw an interview on the Blaze with him, and went to watch the DVD, only to find out they substituted the song! This was such a powerful scene. I loved the format of a lot of episodes with one character and then I was torn too.
This was a groundbreaking TV show that doesn't get the credit it deserves. Unlike the typical solve the crime in an hour and there'll be a new crime next week Wiseguy gave us story arcs that got us more involved. It was gritty and showed the moral conflicts Vinnie had to deal with when got too close to the people he sent to catch. I have the series on DVD and it is still amazing to watch
I still have this episode on my videotape from the CBS broadcast. Now that was drama! So popular was villain Sonny Steelgrave, that "WISEGUY" brought him back in Vinny Terranova's dream sequences in future episodes.
Yes but during those dream sequences, Vinny told Sonny he realised it was only the money etc he admired him for and that no longer would guilt over Sonny haunt him which was patently untrue, as well as taking all the meaning from the NIWS scene. And Ken Wahl was supposed to have written that episode!
It was a brilliant show. Such good story lines, acting, writing. Interestingly Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad creator) was also a HUGE fan. Stylistically and story telling wise both shows are very similar. All you Wiseguy fans who haven't seen B.B - watch it. You'll love it.
Just saw an interview with Jonathan Banks. He said that when he got on set for his part, Wahl & Sharkey were dead tired & had bruises. Said that they were really fighting for 4 hours for those scenes. Mind blowing
This was such a well-acted scene. Sonny believed every word he was saying aa did Vinnie. This reminds me of the division today in our country of political parties where each side thinks they are absolutely right and the other one is totally wrong with their way of thinking.
His career did not end, he did do other films. But this was definitely his time in the sun. Kevin Spacey seems to have had the most successful career with the Oscar win and he continues to be on the A-list. I guess his fire burns the brightest.
I always wonder why no one ever put this back on tv....I remember watching every episode and it all was pretty good but I always thought this story was the best of all of them
Ken Wahls had a motorcycle wreak, during which time he got addicted to pain killers. He got help to control it later on in life. If you notice the Rag trade Arc with Jerry Lewis they had to bring in another actor to fill in for him during recovery after the accident. Not having the moody blues song Nights in White Satin as in the original is a sin. I would dub it in if I had to. It's just not as powerful without it.
Frank would never have been seduced into deserting his duty- that was just a comforting lie to console Vinnie. Actually Vinnie would never have been either even though that was meant to be the underlying theme.
@shumirules1 I found it in syndication and was hooked. You are right. This show would have been great on HBO. You can see a show like the Sopranos foreshadowed by this show.
Ces deux gars auraient mérité une carrière brillante. Au lieu de ça... l'un est mort en transmettant sa maladie à sa copine avant, l'autre n'a plus rien refait au cinéma. Si je dois écrire un scénario, c'est pour Ken Wahl.
No, but Aldo shot Vinnie while he was undercover in the Profitt organization. Roger, Mel Profitt's right hand man yet was really an undercover CIA agent, inadvertantly threw Aldo over a building while wanting to know why he shot Vinnie.
This isn't the finale I remember. The electrocution scene was longer, and Nights in White Satin played during that dramatic scene. I still remember it. Is this off the DVD? Did they cut out scenes? I know they removed NIWS from the DVD but why is it in the other clip at the wrong moment, in a prior scene? This is really weird! Maybe they taped several versions for different countries, like other shows?
mind blowing as a 19 year old and still mind blowing 26 years later...a great moment in tv history, the marriage of heaven and hell..and no one gets out of here alive..with the original music
36 years now....
I remember watching this on TV and forever the "Knights in White Satin" song is etched with this episode of Wiseguy!
If you watched this season from the first episode up until this finale, it was an emotional episode that I've rarely enjoyed other shows achieving!
May have been the best scene in the series...love this show😎👊🏼
Talk about a song etched with a scene,,,Layla piano closing with Goodfellows
Ray Sharkey was an outstanding talent that shouldn't be forgotten, not only as an actor but as an early casualty to AIDS. More federal attention to that disease might have saved millions. Thanks for preserving Sonny Stealgrave, the best character he brought to life.

Mr. M A J E S T I C XIII . Blackstruggle77 very few people know who Tim Richmond was...... He was a Great Driver !!!!!
@@Mr.Majestic77 totally agree. He was talented, but what he did tp those women is beyond forgiveness.
He hid his diagnosis and spread it to over ten women. That’s a real scummy thing to do . Says a lot about him as a person
Ray Starkey... God, what a talent!! So tragic that he self-destructed...
5:23 the best speech Ken/Vinnie made. Those words and his presentation are perfect!
Wow! I haven't seen this since it aired. Wiseguy had some of the best writers and storylines ever. The Sonny Steelegrave arc was the best of this series.
NIWS- I always think of this show whenever I hear that song.
Thanks posting this gem.
Hasn't been a better show than Wise Guy with Sonny and Vinnie. I taped it every time it was on. And now I have it on DVD. My sons bought it too.
I remember watching this on TV the first time it was on the air. This is one of the best TV shows ever made.
Season 1 was nothing short of brilliant. I still watch episodes from it.
Without a doubt, the Sonny Steelgrave was the best ARC of the series. And, this finale was mind blowing at the time. Superb acting in a superior series.
This and the garment district arc.
The best story on Wiseguy by far. The final scene with Vinny and Sonny fighting listening to Knights in White Satin will never be duplicated. Best final ever by far. Same here, ever since I discovered it anyway. It's incredibly touching and affecting.
Such an intense, powerfully moving scene...and the way McPike's voice cracks when he tells the cop don't break his wrist dammit always gets me 😥
Yes same here . Phenomenal acting
Never realized how powerful those dialogs were
I totally agree!!

Banks was Nominated. But he did not win for Wiseguy.
Probably one of the best performances I've ever seen
I just watched all episodes on RUclips. Was never thrilled about the fourth year without Vinnie
It was nothing without him. Finished early too, not surprisingly.
Thank you so much, this is my favorite scene in the entire series. I can't believe that you posted this.
Same here.
Wiseguy (Ken Wahl and Ray Sharkey) rockin' the house!
It's a pity this arc had to end. =/ Such a good show. I really enjoyed watching Sonny Steelgrave...
Ray Sharkey/Sonny Steelgrave steals the entire show.
Too right, he played that role to the hilt! RIP Ray Sharkey
one of the best final scenes in the history of television
I wish there was a boxed set of this first season. I still think about this show. Things are always reminding me of it. Really stuck with me. It was sooooooooooooooooooo good.
There is now, of course.
Decades TV just started the garment Trade arc with Jerry Lewis, Ron Silver, and Stanley Tucci. Awesome. The end of the Steelgrave arc still rips me up inside.
eclecticmn me too 25 years on it is very moving.
You got that right
Don iuppo episodes were good also
Thanks for posting, I saw an interview on the Blaze with him, and went to watch the DVD, only to find out they substituted the song! This was such a powerful scene. I loved the format of a lot of episodes with one character and then I was torn too.
i was 7 when i watched this first. now i am 27. unreal how good i remembered all of this.
This was a groundbreaking TV show that doesn't get the credit it deserves. Ray sharkey was fanstastic as mob boss sunny steelgrave ken wahl was great too as vinny taranova.
*Sonny
*Vinnie Terranova
😁
4:14-6:10......pure perfection. Acting & writing. I miss great TV.
I was a 10 y.o. boy back then in China. When Sunny died, I didn't watch the show never again.
It's the reason Vince cast Jonathon Banks in B.B
Wiseguy was GREAT TV.I NEVER missed an episode. They brought in Anthony Dennison,Steven Bauer, the writing was STILL BRILLIANT.
thanks for posting this.....very emotional.....love it, thanks ever so much!
what you uploaded are my favorite clips from this episode. thank you.
Like many people, I was an enormous fan of this show. I was sad that Ken Wahl's career basically ended with this series.
Just saw an interview with Jonathan Banks. He said that when he got on set for his part, Wahl & Sharkey were dead tired & had bruises. Said that they were really fighting for 4 hours for those scenes. Mind blowing
Una de las mejores series que vi en mí vida...
This was such a well-acted scene. Sonny believed every word he was saying aa did Vinnie. This reminds me of the division today in our country of political parties where each side thinks they are absolutely right and the other one is totally wrong with their way of thinking.
RIP Stephen J Cannell
His career did not end, he did do other films. But this was definitely his time in the sun. Kevin Spacey seems to have had the most successful career with the Oscar win and he continues to be on the A-list. I guess his fire burns the brightest.
I always wonder why no one ever put this back on tv....I remember watching every episode and it all was pretty good but I always thought this story was the best of all of them
this was the show i used to watch this joint with my parents when i was small on channel 9 this and the equliazer
RAY SHARKEY FOREVER
Wiseguy was so goddam good,Ken Wahl kicked ass, cameos by the greatest or soon to be,David Strahairn amazin,Spacey, quality TV
Ray Sharkey never believed that he had aids until the end.
CLASSIC, N DRAMATIC EPP.....BRUNG BK ALOTA CHILDHOOD MEMORIES!!!!!
Truly brilliant.
This was my shit back in the day!
Sonny made some sense in what he said . They were both right in their own way
The government are the criminals....how clearly we can see that today!
But he went overboard with the things he did. Sure the government has dirty secrets, but who's Sonny to act like the moralist in the conversation?
I remember seeing this back in the 80s when it came out. One of the few crime series that was actually interesting on television.
What other ones were interesting am 28 so watching old TV shows now what other crime ones weren't as interesting u found also?thank u
Ken Wahls had a motorcycle wreak, during which time he got addicted to pain killers. He got help to control it later on in life.
If you notice the Rag trade Arc with Jerry Lewis they had to bring in another actor to fill in for him during recovery after the accident.

Que capitulo tan trizte,me gustó mucho la serie.
Que recuerdo tan bonito.
Gracias RUclips.
Absolute great show ... I miss the characters and ability of the actors/writer etc ...
One of my all time favorite season finales! Too bad the Moody Blues Song isn't on the DVD.
Frank would never have been seduced into deserting his duty- that was just a comforting lie to console Vinnie. Actually Vinnie would never have been either even though that was meant to be the underlying theme.
Was great TV,
The Mel Profit arc was also great.
Down hill after
Old Times, Good Times
Yes !
As I remember the show continued after this but this is when I stopped watching . . . .
Polat & Çakır
Saul Goodman could've gotten him out of it.
Yes! I always wanted Sonny to survive!
this show is on the decades digital tv channel right now
Exacto. Esta escena me marco😢 la cancion
great show
Thanks! I'm gonna look for it!
thats the "dead dog arc" episodes. they won' release them
It was called "The Taking of Beverly Hills".
Sonny es y sera hermoso!!!
maldito Vinnie que lo entrego
Comment 111: You still did not deliver did you?
No. You do NOT get "credit" for anything.

Awesome ass show. This on one night and "The Equalizer" on the next night. Or was it the other way around? Either way, awesome show.
Thanks For The Upload
if you have the decades digital tv channel wiseguy is on right now
Me gusta mucho las series antiguas en español
He gets to be kissed by Frank. Sweet!
Yes, but they didn't have the rights to include it in the DVD release. Lame! Or Stephen Cannell didn't want to shell out the dough...
@shumirules1 I found it in syndication and was hooked. You are right. This show would have been great on HBO. You can see a show like the Sopranos foreshadowed by this show.
hanoc101 This show and Cannell's other hit, "The Rockford Files", where Sopranos creator David Chase was a writer/producer.
i have the original tape of nights bt i have no idea how to upload it??
wouldn't mind buying stock in that lock company. kicked that cops ass..Nice vid,thanks..
@7beers I downloaded it from someone who was sharing clips in Livejournal. I rather not say her username.
Ces deux gars auraient mérité une carrière brillante. Au lieu de ça... l'un est mort en transmettant sa maladie à sa copine avant, l'autre n'a plus rien refait au cinéma. Si je dois écrire un scénario, c'est pour Ken Wahl.
What was the reason for not releasing them?
agree! 100%
there is.
Just curious but whatever happened to Aldo? Did they ever catch him?
Johnny Cake this show is on the decades digital tv channel right now
he came back in the mel profit arc, look for it.
No, but Aldo shot Vinnie while he was undercover in the Profitt organization. Roger, Mel Profitt's right hand man yet was really an undercover CIA agent, inadvertantly threw Aldo over a building while wanting to know why he shot Vinnie.
dead dog records!!!!!
To the uploader: where did you get this from?
This isn't the finale I remember. The electrocution scene was longer, and Nights in White Satin played during that dramatic scene. I still remember it. Is this off the DVD? Did they cut out scenes? "TAXES, MAN!!!" Cringe beyond CRINGE
I loved you, man ....... that's a history line between two friends and an unforgettable moment 😪
