Those DC-3's (all 4 of them) came from NWT Air including the hangar. NWT Air also owned two DC-6's and the chief pilot was Happy Harry Sorenson. The owner was Bob Engel, an American from Seattle. This was back in the 1960's/70's when I worked for that company. Both have passed on. I spent many hours in those aircraft, flying around most of the NWT, which at that time included the Eastern Arctic. Am now 90 years old and still truckin'. Happy days.
Watching from the Barkly tablelands of the Northern Territory of Australia, yes never forget them but sure do miss those documentary videos the used to post on here, Thanks for sharing this video with us , see some changes since I last watched a video of Buffalo Airways. Sad to see the DC 4 parked up and am wondering what happened to the other one ? Joe must be well into his seventies now and I'm guessing still flying, wondering how many hours he must have logged ( and how many he didn't bother logging 😁😂😂 Like so many bush pilots in both fixed wing and helicopter, I'm 71 yrs and grew up in South Westland , south island of NZ, we had no road access when I was a kid and relied on an Air service, as a young man I was involved in the Venision industry late sixties and seventies, fixed wing and helicopter were the required machines of the order back then, Wish Buffalo a long lasting and prosperous future, Cheers and thanks from from an old man Al
This video brought back some very fond memories. Back in the 1970’s, Naples (Florida) Airlines (aka PBA) had a fleet of five DC-3’s (N35PB, N233PB, N130PB, N32PB, N139PB) which I flew on frequently between Naples Florida and either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. They were great planes. They also added Martin 404’s (N40407) to the fleet in the mid 70’s and had at least one Lockheed 10E Electra (N233PB) in the 1960’s
Thanks Alan! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the video. We really had some fun in doing the tour and I had fun with the editing after the fact! Were you a passenger or get to pilot the DC-3s on the frequent flights?
That was a really cool tour of Buffalo Air! They have such a long history of service! Hope this new time of posting works out for your channel! >Terry!
Sub- Arctic Man Cave .... I miss the periodic little snippits from Buffalo 30 years ago there was a company ... I gather was doing express runs for GM here in Oshawa were running 2 DC-3s ... would see them regularly
It’ll be a different sky overhead when they stop running the DC-3 all together here. I’ve already noticed a huge drop in use since they got the new jet. 😬
@@SubArcticAdventures The Series of course and Mikey’s adventures as well. I remember waiting in bated breath for the next episodes. Sure I can still watch them now but it’s nothing like watching the first time. 😀😀 Thanks Again. I wish Mikey would do an update as well. All the best to you and yours!
@@sneaks01 That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing! Maybe if we get a chance to go back in the winter we’ll see if Mikey will come out and say “Hi” to everyone. Stay tuned! 😎
Very awesome. I love the Yukon. The Dempster highway is gorgeous this time of year! Maybe this time next season you’ll see a video about it 😉. Thanks for watching!
Interesting video and definitely some great info for locals who might be intrigued to get out and check that little gem for themselves. Watching your videos is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get 😂
I 100% agree and would love to. I hope to have some other operators appearing in future videos, but if you know of anyone please have them reach out in the mean time! Thanks so much for watching!
Really enjoyed the tour with a fresh face, not the usual suspects! Lol Just a heads up, the volume of music is too loud for these old ears! Could you please turn it down a couple of notches? Going from the conversation, back to music, and back to conversation makes it hard to hear. I would rather hear the conversation. Otherwise very good video and looking towards the next one's! 😊 Thank you!
Thank you very much for feedback! I’m truly loving this journey in learning all this along the way to building the channel. Thank you for joining me. I’ll work on the audio for sure. Were you using headphones?
We were lucky enough to get a private one-on-one tour, so there are no complaints here at all. They treated us amazingly and we had a blast. If we can get a lot of views /subscribers that show us there’s the interest, I’ll look at going back at some point over the winter as well and welcome all requests to try to capture what content people would like to see. I took note of the exhibits/artifacts for you. Thanks for watching!
@@RetiredPilot True. But then again, it wasn’t my intention to broadcast their entire tour. There’s a lot more to see and I don’t want to spoil it for you. Come check it out! Look us up when you get here 😎
I think the point of this video is to encourage people like us to come and see. If we hear it all then why would we bother to go? Great job on the video, this is very well done! A few of us all sat to watch it again a second time.
^^this. You’re spot on. It’s a video about hanging out and exploring things to do in northern Canada - not broadcast a vendors entire tour. Thanks for getting it. And THANK YOU for the support. Please keep them coming. Your videos will keep us entertained in the long winter months coming ahead. We all love watching your content and very happy we stumbled upon it. I keep checking to see if you have more.

That is an incredible story. You’re living proof that life is an adventure, and a very interesting one at that! God bless!
Here in Canada I watched the show ice pilots on the history channel 20 years ago and Joe was in his 60s and now 2024 he’s still going, good for him👍🏻👍🏻

that C-54 is not likely to go anywhere soon.
