If it is a charter flight, the trip is ended once the plane is empty. The empty trip back is non-revenue. Charge the customer a "repositioning" fee to get the plane home vs billing them for aircrew and fuel costs on the way home.
This happens with every external audit in all the fields, every year you get a different clown with different interpretations of regulations. It is not limited to airlines.
If the Regs are similar to the UK in their operation then an individual has no authority to interpret legislation. This can only be done by a Court or in rare specified instances a Minister of State.
Government officials need re educating. They are there to help and assist companies not be at war with them. An empty plane returning from a delivery used as training makes sense.

I’m am casually acquainted with a lady who lives in Hay River…which if you follow the news will know it’s practically been flattened in a flood. A few years ago the same thing happened to Ft. Simpson and buffalo where heavily involved in the relief efforts…as they will be for Hay River. She said the McBryan family are well known and liked in the community and do a lot for the people. Even more they are the lifeline of many of the isolated towns up north towards the arctic circle. Without buffalo, they would struggle to survive without regular deliveries. I’d say there’s a big difference between SOP in a modern aircraft and one that’s almost eighty years old…in arctic temperatures…and appalling conditions!! 🤦🏻♂️ Then there’s pilots like the late Arnie Schreder!! Even buffalo Joe himself. They’re the last of their breed. That being said, given the lack of avgas at the secluded airports Buffalo have already started to modernise their fleet somewhat. I’m an armchair pilot….2000 hours on ms flight sim x and MSFS. 😁 Spend most of my time oop north flying buffalos routes or in PNG doing missionary bush pilots. Even with full weather and realism I admire what those guys do. 👍🏻
This is certainly made for dramatic effect. But there is an underlying truth, that the purpose of government is to provide income, pensions, and arbitrary power to government officials, while hurting citizens freedom, productivity, and economic well being. Government is esshoe.
"Good Officer's Conduct" requires the Inspector to conduct himself without prejudgement nor malice. If the Inspector does this malfeasance in the name of and representing Transport Canada. Then Transport Canada is responsible and the inspector CAN & SHOULD be held to account as well as personally liable & responsible beyond the protections of the Canadian Government. This means anything & everything he owns or will ever own is at risk to be forfeit.
Your spot on except, when a Government Employee, agent, official and possibly even private contractors, are going about their duties and job assignments. Usually they have immunity from prosecution and/or civil law suits. Exceptions would be war crimes committed by soldiers. You would have to prove that an agent failed to have jurisdiction. If (and I do say if) we get the full story here, the CTA inspector is way out of line! I am used to deal with the FAA (American CTA) and I have never experienced something like this. Yes you shouldn't train your pilots on revenue passenger flights but here we are talking about cargo revenue flights. In America it is normally accepted that you do pilot training on maintenance, ferry and to a certain degree cargo flights. We have no rule (as far as I know) about the pilot training flight should originate and terminate in the same airport, so that might be a Canadian thing. Anyway the pilots received the required training so why should they train again? Is their training any better without boxes in the aircraft? Again if we get the complete story here, I am glad that I am not dealing with the CTA!
Surley training should be carried out with loaded aircraft? The handling is totaly diffrent unladen, and therefore of no releveance to the job being done.
My friend did 100%of his type rating in a simulator. The first time he ever set foot on a CRJ700 he was the copilot flying out of Denver with a full load of passengers. It was his initial operational training, so he did the takeoff too.

I own an auto repair shop and we do state inspections. I got fined last year for something but I literally followed the law and got fined. They have it set up so the fine is like 500 bucks and not worth paying a lawyer to go to court so nothing ever gets solved. Everything is a gray area when they can’t show you documentation. This is a hilarious story and much shorter than when I got fined. So the dmv agent comes to check inspection waiver paperwork from the day before basically what that is if you spend over $450 to fix one thing that’s causing ur engine light to be on you can waive the emission test and put a sticker on it. The one he came to check the paperwork was perfect and there was another one in the folder that he wasn’t gonna check but I told him there’s one from a few months ago too. He looks it over and said everything is perfect other than the price of the valve spring it higher that the retail price on the receipt (yeah literally need to have a copy of the parts you bought and it’s time sensitive). I paid $10 for the valve spring and sold it for $22 he said that’s price gouging. I explained that my point of sales system automatically marks up my parts it’s the most popular system in the industry and I’m using the default markup percentages. He tells me I can’t do that has to be no higher than retail price on receipt. Then he said you know how customers are anyways they can type the part number on google then get mad because it’s cheaper online. I showed him a receipt for brake pads I paid 34.99 and the retail price said 149.99 so I said I can sell these pads for 149.99 then? He said no that’s price gouging lol well how’s that if I’m going off the retail price? No that’s price gouging. He couldn’t provide any documentation for this or anything so I said I will follow the rules for the waiver but it’s none of anyone’s business what I buy and sell parts for that’s just business.

The other thing to do is keep up the pressure on Transport Canada to promulgate specific regulations by oversight by the Canadian Parliament. Bring political pressure. The other thing is sue them to recover all cost of training flights. File charges against them for official misconduct with the RCMP and have them arrested when they show up. They want war so take the fight to them.
they make standard flying procedure look like life and death situations.
@@My_Fair_Lady ok
Then there’s pilots like the late Arnie Schreder!!
@@My_Fair_Lady ru a pilot?
@@My_Fair_Lady take some time think, you called him a non pilot moron… so maybe that’s why it matters
I LOVE Joes fighting SPRITE .....~~~~~~ WHAT EVER TAKES JOB DONE.
This is certainly made for dramatic effect. But there is an underlying truth, that the purpose of government is to provide income, pensions, and arbitrary power to government officials, while hurting citizens freedom, productivity, and economic well being. Government is esshoe.
Mike at 48 I had a stroke and wound up in a wheelchair 4yrs later my vision is still hali gone and can't drive. Still no walking or use my left hand.
Yep, just ANOTHER prime example of bureaucratic B-S…from an Agency who wanted Joe & Co. to feel the pain…
Small minds love big power !
Such as a restaurant inspector telling a mechanic what to do!
Great Reality T.V. right on Script
Joe getting a temper is already a known sight, but when Justin who's level-headed says there's something wrong, that does say a lot.
Yes, Civil Aviation Authorities around the world always have people in power who don't have the ability to manage their own transport system... Good on you Mikey, Way to go. Excellent to watch another video of Buffalo Airways..
no way you can bring a law suite "causing safety issue by the authorities" and re-coupe lost fuel and $ and set in stone regulations and "no interpretation" by inspectors
would be nicwe to see how old the episode is, when it was on first time
WONDER can you Link the episode where the DC3 passenger flight is shut down pls
Scratch "non-revenue flight" and substitute with "training flight" for documentation. Everyone can go home now.
Transport Canada just plain sucks to put it mildly !Power trippers !most of them .
Another uneducated ill-informed opinion.
My friend did 100%of his type rating in a simulator. The first time he ever set foot on a CRJ700 he was the copilot flying out of Denver with a full load of passengers. It was his initial operational training, so he did the takeoff too.
Is this a new series or is it years old?? Thanks andy

Here in the US a few pictures of Benjamin Franklin will usually "fix" those kind of problems
I'm impressed of how much you guys get done in light of the bureaucracy you have to go through with that socialist government. Ours is getting really bad. It's becoming self serving when we pay it to serve us.
Though posted to youtube in May of 2022, is this from the TV show of 8 to 10 years ago?

Maybe, does Dewey Hicks work for transport Canada?
Wow Harper hasn’t been our PM in 7 yrs
Musk Ox stinks really bad must've sucked flying around with that stuff as cargo!
I'm sure the temps helped mitigate the smell; could you imagine doing the same further south in a much warmer climate?
I was thinking as I watched that, don't turn the cargo hold heaters on!
hmmm...Harper hasn't been PM for a long time..how old is this video?
I read through the credits, and at the very very end it says in microscopic sized print; 2012. Nine, or ten years old.
So, nothing to do with a high accident/incident rate?
There comes a time where some planes belong in the museum.
Go Mike!
Worked at small one horse fbo. Owner always on good terms with inspector but some times the official would get a little too close to stuff they shouldn't see. He would always have an "oh by the way" question asking for their expertise, knowing they wouldn't be able to answer right away. They would inevitably leave not wanting to look silly.
This sounds like a set up by one of the opposition airlines.
Great shape!!!
I have had similar encounters with pencil-pushers from the Ministry of Labor- when I recited the existing legislation and asked the Inspector how he would propose to perform the work, he suddenly became mute.
Transport Canada where the guys who can’t fly or fix aircraft work
Those that can, do. Those that can't criticize.
Transport Canada is a flawed institution. I have been a commercial pilot for 42 years. Since CARS they are all about interdiction and shutting aviation down. The office environment is caustic and they have trouble keeping personnel, except the most incompetent.
Bonjour Mr dame pour venir au Canada un faire comment
