Great running Nick 💪🏼4th after Copenhagen 'only' the week before is brilliant! Hearing your breathing so early on, and you still grinded it out! 🙌🏼 Another great video and always an inspiration! Keep up the great work champ! 💯🔵⚪️
Amazing you are capturing video while suffering!! Thanks for sharing the video & your energy is inffectious! Nothing like a cold beer after a race .. ! I ran a 1:20:09 at the Brooklyn Half .. 9:00 am, a pint of Brooklyn Larger!!
1 week after a marathon, and with a newborn, you did already more than expected. I also have a newborn, and the intermittent sleep and energy you put into taking care of the baby is not to be underestimated. So well done!
Well done Nick, still. Nothing but respect. I'm chasing a sub 1h25 half marathon and a sub 3 marathon. See you in Berlin, we're going to get it! Shakalaka boom boom baby.
Thank you for teaching us the race from within. Those really fresh legs shouldn't be after a marathon, but you've had a great run. Congratulations. (I follow you from the Seville Marathon)
Wow well done Nick. The crowd support was fantastic all the way around on Sunday definitely kept me going when times got tough. Tried to chase down sub 1hour 50minutes but missed it by 83seconds. Looking back now drifted mile 7 to 10 on pace then just left myself too much to do at the end. Tried to claw it back but not enough distance was left. Lots learned for me and will go again in the summer Big Half and Royal Parks before my first full marathon October. Best wishes for the future training ahead!! 👍
@@justalilbester absolutely Nick 💪💪 will be going for it 100per cent!! So close but seems so far at the minute but determined more than ever now to go below the 1hour 50minute mark 👍👍
Love the emotions as always. I know it's not what you wanted but you know the deal 😂. I loved the view from the camera. Thanks for recording. You will be missed at comrades. Enjoy your rest and well deserved boet.
Remember your "A" goal is Berlin. The fact that you reached your limit on Sunday means that your body/mind will absorb that and grow stronger. Combination of 2:34 marathon then a 1:11 half a week later is some GREAT training in the bank and still fantastic times.
Being able to manage your breathing like that over that distance is really inspiring. Sounds odd writing that but it’s motivating hearing that deep breathing from early, knowing your threshold and what your body is capable of. All about the training. Well in my bro 💪🏻 Booooooooomshakalaka
@@justalilbester this is where that huge mental strength and experience you have starts to play out. Soon as I start entering the hurt locker i start backing out again whereas you drive it home and hard 💪🏻
That sounded tough but you stuck at it. 4th place is incredible and the marathon would definitely have played a part in making that feel harder than usual. Don’t be down about it. Another great result 💪🎉
Hello Nick bester, I'm from Hong Kong, I just watched your youtube channel, I like to shoot while running, your equipment is so light, what brand is it, please.
Well run Nick - awesome effort having run 26 miles the previous weekend - for my part I definitely preferred the original course when it went though part of the Olympic Park - far too many twists and turns nowadays - despite 1st place in my age category I don’t think I’ll be doing it again!
I ran much better and was 5 minutes faster at Cambridge in March but only managed 4th in my age group that day - you never can tell who’s going to turn up on the day.
That’s a lot of racing, but still must be frustrating not being able to respond as usual. However , do you get the same training benefit from a max effort on tired legs as a max effort on fresh legs - albeit at a slower pace?
You better a much more productive training benefit when doing a race on fresher legs where you're able to push to your limits. But hey, it's still a solid effort in the bank!
Wow disappointed with 71 min and 2,34 marathon last week funny congrats dude amazing resilience but take it easy dude for the next couple of weeks been doing a lot later don’t burn yourself out ❤
Well done👍🏻🙏❤ That course looks pretty good ..was that mostly flat? Some sharp turn Dont be disepointed! This is only road to sub 2.20! Its very good to race race race .. u learn always some about how ur body work in race ! Sometimes better to race then do speed workout!
For me that time is phenomenal but I get how for you that’s disappointing. It’s all relative. But I love how real you are, no toxic positivity just self growth. Can’t wait to watch you build for Berlin.
There is a big difference between running a race and RACING a race. There is only so much racing you can do. I'm not a pro and I wont only run races when I'm in shape. It was an amazing day for my Best Athletics team and that's what it's all about for me. I run for the mental and physical benefits the sports gives you and love doing races. Bring on a 1 mile race this weekend. Onwards and upwards!
Why even run as an elite athlete if 70 minute pace gets you running alone. Would not be the case in most half marathons with that amount of participants.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, Copenhagen week before , young family and 4th out of 20,000, massive respect 👏👏👏
Very true !!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well said

When I watched it back I was also like wow! I was breathing quite heavy from early on! Grind, grind, grind! 💙🤍🙌🏻

Haha what a legend! Well deserved!
amazing video and such a great POV! Thank you for bringing us along!
Are you kidding me? 4th place is AWESOME.
A 2:34 Marathon ( in the heat) including the fatigue of travel last weekend, I'd say that was a factor, great effort 👏
You did amazing. Fantastic run on a hot day straight after a tough marathon. Great running and excellent shots of Hackney in the sunshine. Well done 👍
Thanks Paul. It was a beaut of a sunny day!

Didn’t get to see you at the end nick but well done for pushing through, It was tough in the heat.
Cheers pal and congrats for smashing it once again! You're in top shape!!

Love it 🔥🔥🔥
Great race well done! & congrats on thr new arrival! My wife & I had our first baby 7 weeks ago today, i can relate to the lack of sleep issue!
Oooo that lack of sleep is something else. But totally worth it in every sense too 🫶🏻
Your videos are so inspiring Nick! Please keep them coming! Run my first Half yesterday (aged 47!). Immediately hooked!
Amazing to hear! Let life begin!!
@@justalilbester I did Hackney Half in 1.47, wanna get down to 1.30!!
Amazing time, well done. I also did the Hackney Half and it has to be one of my favourites. Awesome atmosphere 🙌
The post race vibes at Hackney are unreal 🎉
Great vlog

awesome run Nick .. 🤙
Damn 24.000 runners. After 1h10m some folks still had to start?? Amazing
I was one of the ones still to start when you finished 😂
Respect 🫡 can’t be easy seeing other runners finished already. Hope you had a good one 👊🏻
Well done for the fourth place, especially after running Copenhagen a week ago
great run!
Loneliness of the long distance runner. Basta. Thats for sure. Congratetulate Nick. Inga DK.
Ah yes it can be lonely sometimes!! But we always come out the other side!!
