    You could find pots big enough to place your family in and place them in the corner. Just love that plant 🌻

    For taming leaves - try a tomato cage. It’s a hoop with a few stakes so the leaves can be brought together in the centre of the hoop. I use one for my small form monstera.

    I definitely think it’s okay still to refer to _Thaumatophyllum_ as _Philodendron_ given that they were in the genus for so long anyway! Whether it’s ‘Hope’, ‘Selloum’, ‘Lickety Split’, or ‘Xanadu’. If I’m talking to someone, even someone who is knowledgeable on plants, nobody is gonna mentally register what I’m saying if I say “Thaumatophyllum ‘Selloum’ “ or “Hope”. There’s a Peperomia already called ‘Hope’! 😂 Plus, “split-leaf philodendron” is so descriptive. And it ends up being a “common name”… Personally, when I talk about or think of them, I don’t immediately think “Thaumatophyllum”, lol. Kind of like _Epipremnum_ isn’t Pothos. At least… not the true genus of _Pothos_ which is another of the many genera placed within Araceae family.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  8 месяцев назад +2

      The correct plant name is a minefield! Lots of people get very upset when people use the wrong name, especially the Pothos brigade! My take is there is a place for proper scientific names, but there is also a place for calling plants what people know them as to facilitate excahnge of information and ideas. This is not a botany class but a hobby for most.

    Ms. Nora, great job. Question: if the plant has aerial roots, why didn't you give it moss pole?

      too many moss poles, I am also not sure it actually climbs but also I love to see the aerial roots around everywhere!

    I have the exact same plant that I converted to leca last year! It’s thriving right now, but in a smaller pot just like the one you had before! I am going to need to find that huge plastic container in the next 2-3 years >< haha

    My bipinnatifidum stopped growing, but that was after repotting it around July.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  8 месяцев назад +2

      That is not cool. A few questions, what are the other conditions like? Light, humidity, temperature, fertilising?

    • @YouCallThataKnife253
      @YouCallThataKnife253 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheLecaQueen She receives a good amount of light, being near a southeast facing window (although, in my northern climate, the days are currently quite short).
      The air in my home is definitely relatively dry, but no more so than the previous place we moved from, where my philo was thriving. Also, the quality of light in that place was considerably worse, and the house was perpetually cold. My current home has many more windows and stays much warmer.
      As far as feeding goes, she was most recently fertilized in September, just before the days started to get really short in my region. However, her growth rate stunted long before that. Oddly enough, she almost seemed happier in the very, VERY rootbound container I previously had her in 🤷🏾‍♂️

      @@YouCallThataKnife253 assuming all conditions are right, sometimes it does take a minute for a plant to get back to growing normally because of the disturbance. There is alot of activity going on in the root area that we do not see, time will tell. All the best.

      Hi Nora. I find when staking a large plant like you have there, I put the stake nearer the edge of the pot furtherest away from the direction the plant is leaning, then when you put Velcro around it should hopefully hold it more upright. (Less chance of it taking up so much horizontal space, and annoying those 14:29 who share your living space) hope that all makes sense. Good luck

    Where’s the best and most affordable place to buy leca, in bulk? Is it worth my plants time to disperse the balls over the top of the soil or mix them in with the soil?

      That plant is humongous! Maybe you could put it in the corner next to the pothos? That smaller plant could either find a new spot or sit in front and give a little extra support. (Just my 2 cents) 🤔

      Interesting! Do they actually use leca in aquariums with fish, or do they use it as a substrate for some other kind of critter?
