I am glad Kai is currently playing in Nightwish, so that more people could notice how insanely good he is. He deserves so much more credit than he gets.

Nightwish sorta blew up on YT and I am seeing more and more of these Kai drum videos showing up in recommendations. 133,792 as of my viewing Sept 6, 2020 Kai is not quite as flashy as Jukka but he certainly is massively impressive on the drums, and really looks relaxed even doing stuff like this, which is just as impressive to me. Was watching an interview with him, and Kai joked he is trying to be a bit showier but he has almost hit Floor with a stick so more work was needed. He seems not only a great drummer but a totally cool guy too.
When I first hear he was covering for Jukka on the EFMB tour, I went and looked up some of the Wintersun videos and was all "THIS is who is covering for Jukka???" Then when I saw them like, I was all "THIS is who is covering for Jukka!!!" Was totally surprised in a very good way. He is totally bad ass and possibly one of the best drummers that flies under everyones radar.
He's the best finn drummer that I've never heard before lot of techniques, so much grooving, broken up beats. That technique with the left foot is awesome..!
+e. ojeda It's easy to notice his left foot, but the more I think about it, the more I'm impressed by the right foot. He's playing double strokes (LRRLRRLRR...). Wow!
This is what practice looks like. It's tedious, boring, and I HATE IT!. But when you learn something new that you didn't even think you could do, the way it translates to music is fun and inspiring. I have to start forcing myself to practice more. I dig Kai's drumming in Nightwish. An extraordinary man brought into extraordinary circumstances, and I'm glad he's here. Thanks Kai!
Well.. ppl here are saying that he is the best drummer from Finland..nope he isnt the best one. Yes best metal drummer for sure atm. But there is still one guy who isnt that well know but he played in band called Kingston Wall back in 90's name is Sami Kuoppamäki :)
Three reasons: 1. To help out his friend who can't tour with the band due to health conditions. 2. He got paid. 3. Nightwish is more popular than Wintersun. But even if it wasn't mixing and matching live performers is still a great way to get more fans for both bands involved. Also > what was it? Not obvious to everybody. He handles both the hi-hat and the left bass drum pedal at the same time. But when I analyze this a little more I'm actually more impressed with his right foot with which he plays two beats between every beat with the left foot.

Not really, he's actually quite off in his timing and misses quite abit. I miss Jukka sorely.

Exactly. He hits those drums hard. Stamina is important. And after that comes skill which Kai is on the top level.
