MY UNPOPULAR BANKAI THEORY: Aizen never used his Bankai because his Bankai’s ability, similar to Urahara’s, isn’t exactly a combat-centric zanpakuto. Quite the opposite! Kyoka Suigetsu’s Shikai ability is Kanzen Saimin, the ability to make anyone see what he wants them to see upon seeing his Shikai’s release. However, his Bankai is the opposite. The Bankai is the ability to make HIMSELF able to see anything, so long as he witnesses his own Bankai’s release. “Mirror Flower, Water Moon.” Initially believing his Bankai was a dud and didn’t work, it was only through witnessing his zanpakuto’s release in the reflection of the water that he was able to realize the omniscience his Bankai grants him. Like astral projection, Aizen suddenly is fed the knowledge of all things around him. Whatever he wishes to know the nature of, he perfectly reads that thing, its powers, its past, the very nature and entire concept of said thing. It allows Aizen to better understand the world around him, to become aware of things as though he possessed the eyes of a god. And that’s when he got a little too curious, peering forth into the cosmos to the origin of all things, only to see the Soul King for what he is: possibly some Lovecraftian horror, a cosmic contradiction with didn’t sit well with Aizen. Realizing the nature of such an entity and its origin probably made him hate the Soul King to the extent he did, and the Bankai could be the reason why he became so smart, why he knows stuff far beyond all other Captains. Perhaps even his Bankai revealed to him the secrets of the universe necessary to understand what it took to create his half of the Hōgyoku, and from there, all that was needed was to become sufficiently strong enough to carry out his plan. Then again...perhaps what horrified him most about his realization of the Soul King was the fact that, like Yhwach, Aizen was an unnatural spawn of the Soul King. His strength maybe comes from being a part of the Soul King, and his quest to become that which stands above Soul Reapers and Hollows is a more natural pursuit than you’d think for him. Truly, I couldn’t tell you. I just think Aizen is unnaturally smart and well-informed, for someone who isn’t even as old as Shunsui or Ukitake. I also think that he’s smart enough to have realized that if his Bankai could eliminate the Gotei 13 all at once, he could have done so after Yamamoto was curbstomped by Wonderweiss. The Hōgyoku was his answer for not having the necessary raw power sufficient for carrying out the next stage in his plan. Not that he wasn’t strong, but he probably thought he couldn’t rely on illusions alone against Squad Zero. Also, though his Arrancar were strong, he soon realized they’d be fodder compared to what Aizen would be when merged with the Hōgyoku. Anyway, yeah. That’s my theory. That Aizen’s Bankai is useless in the heat of battle, but key to understanding his knowledge and past, and his hatred for the very nature of reality.
What if Aizen was the soul King’s mind? Like how we find out about the left and right hands of the soul king as well as some of the other Quincy (don’t remember their names) are the heart of the soul king and such. The reason Aizen could be so smart to plan everything out to the finest detail could be because he was born from the mind of the soul king, the being who “rules” over all of the realms.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kyoka Suigetsu's spirit was even more egotistical than Aizen himself and never saw him as worthy of seeing its true Bankai. Similar to how Ruriro Kujaku essentially half-asses its release when Ayasegawa calls it "Fuji Kujaku"; maybe KS' Bankai is the Kanzen Saimin, but because Aizen is ridiculously powerful even a half-assed bankai release on his zanpakuto's part is broken as fuck. The Zanpakutou seem to reflect their owners. That being said, Ichigo seemed to have the impression that there was something under Aizen's façade which is part of why he failed. I wonder of Aizen got so good at manipulating others that he completely forgot what he himself originally wanted. Perhaps his sword would show that hidden side, they seem to be perceptive of things that even the people they are reflecting are not aware of.
@@joaquinriosrodriguez7316 A curious idea. I have always wondered how the interactions of other characters with their own Zanpakuto affect their perspectives. We have seen how Ichigo interacts with his (regardless of his awareness of the true nature of his Zanpakuto) and how that has led to a significant part of his development over the series. Outside of the rather enjoyable (In my opinion, I tend to rather enjoy filler arcs so it could be just me) filler arc we don't see the characters interact with their own swords as much. I would have liked for Kubo to expand on that just a bit, but that is just me. It occurs to me that there would likely be interactions between other characters and their respective weapons in undergoing similar development because it seems to me that a number of people underwent changes as the series went on. Not as much or as overtly as Ichigo, but still noticeable. Rukia, Renji, Byakuya, Chad, Uryu, Orihime, Kenpachi, and others including even Yamamoto. I would imagine that they would have interacted with their own Zanpakuto at some point to ponder the change.
I’m pretty sure ruriro kujaku didn’t release its full power or ability is more because the incantation is really important and needlessly changing it or lying would probably offend any spirit and not just because of who the owner is

Partially true, but Ichigo was the only one powerful enough to battle Aizen into a weakened enough state for the seal to even take place. Dangai Ichigo was the only one fast enough and strong enough to contend with Aizen’s new and overwhelming reiatsu, and also wasn’t under the spell of Kyoka Suigetsu. To put it in perspective, Aizen was still transforming, and was SO powerful that he had to be literally cleaved in half to even be remotely weak enough for the seal to work and have the hogyoku reject him as a host. This exhibits how powerful Aizen’s foe has to be to weaken him, and only Ichigo and his Final Getsuga Tensho form with Mugetsu could pull it off

serious question... what was he evolving into?... i know the hokyoku(not sure if its correctly spelled) follows the minds desire and boost his power to suit his needs... but what was it turning him into... could it be that he was turning into what he thought a soul king should be? I wish people would've touched on this but I like how Ichigo and Aizen are polar opposites in their appearances, Ichigo has wild spiky hair and has a hot temper but on the inside he's a selfless and caring young man, and Aizen has a very well-groomed debonair appearance but is a wicked and cruel man, hasn't anyone noticed that?
Aizen may have been cruel to his enemies but he was never wicked. All he did was done in order to become the soul king and make the world better in his opinion. And in the end Ichigo said its possible he actually wanted to lose the final battle.

When Aizen said it was interesting that Yhwack thought he had impaled Ichigo, I think what he found interesting was the fact that Yhwach was still affected by the hypnosis even after absorbing the Soul King. I think this was because Ywach encountered Aizen at some point back in the initial Quincy wars and Aizen used his Kyoka Suigetsu, but somehow Yhwach escaped without dying, and that also explains why Aizen was rated as a Top War Threat. On the bankai thing, I think it just really isn't suited to battle situations. I think it was shown when Yhwach returned to the Soul Society extermination and mentions he was gone longer than he thought. This is Aizen's bankai; the ability to manipulate your 6th sense, or Circadian Rhythm. Which a pre-req could be, to be under the shikai hypnosis. This line of logic ties a few points together actually.
I figured that it was when yhwach visited him in prison he used it since his sword was fused with him, so all he would need to do would be to get someone to look at him
Didn't Aizen say he wanted to search for new heights in power? He once said that both Soul Reapers & Hollows have limits they can reach, and wants to erase the border between those two to once again raise the limits. It's very safe to assume that he reached his limit as Soul Reaper and wanted to find the best way to raise those. And hitting his limit surely means he has a Bankai.

The way it was described to me, Aizen never used his bankai because when he merged with his sword he already had a much greater power, just like Ichigo's mugetsu. Even though he didn't use his bankai, he still has access to all his swords powers like when he hypnotized Yhwach while sitting there. I think that he should also be able to use his bankai powers just as easily. While he never said "bankai" or had a flashy new form, I think that he still used his bankai ability. While fighting against Yhwach, he gets impaled and says something like "You think you are looking at Ichigo? Fascinating." This line wouldn't make any sense if he was using his regular powers to control Yhwach's senses cause he would know what illusion he was putting Yhwach under. This makes me think that Aizen's bankai is some kind of illusion that draws upon the thoughts and memories of the person he hits it with rather than creating an illusion himself. This would explain why he thought what Yhwach saw was interesting and how the illusion is so relevant despite Aizen not being able to witness any of the events that transpired earlier. Ichigo and Renji both appear in Aizen's illusion despite Aizen not knowing those two were the ones after Yhwach. Aizen could have sensed what was going and an guessed at some things but there is no reason why Aizen should have been able to create an illusion of Ichigo's new bankai without having seen the blade before. So Aizen's bankai in my theory loses the ability to carefully create any illusion Aizen desires for the added ability to use things from the target's memories to create a more convincing illusion to better fool the target.
Considering Papa Quincy could see and rearrange timelines, I've always figured the reason Aizen didn't know what Juha was seeing was because he was creating illusions over every timeline.
I always thought Yamamoto’s line revealed another one of aizen’s weaknesses - that being his limited perspective. Yamamoto knows what it’s actually like to stab in the gut, Aizen (presumably) doesn’t. If he doesn’t know what something feels like, he can try to replicate it, but it might not be accurate. Sorta like if someone could see infrared, he could TRY to mess with it, but he has no clue what infrared would look like to them, much less know how to change it.
The character for moon is 月, which is tsuki, but i think like in English there's synonyms, which would be getsu, i think they can be used interchangeably but there's probably some grammatical rule that dictates when to use each one. Correct me if I'm wrong, because i probably am ngl

If you appear after he releases Kyoka Suigetsu, he must release Kyoka again, and that is a pain in the ass, so Ichigo saved himself by being late into fights
Actually Aizen states he hasn't released his shikai since he gathered the Captains and Vice Captains because he didn't want Ichigo to witness it so he could have fun fighting him.
I always thought that Aizen's Bankai was something that he despised using. Which is why he trained everything else to a ridiculous level. It would be OP whatever it is but I believe it is something that he hates. Which would fit into the story and why we haven't seen it. Of course in the end everything is going according to his plan.
Kinda like Soi-Fon’s Bankai being something she hates but very strong. So what if Aizen’s Bankai is puppeteering ones body entirely and no free will. Since he wanted some fun fighting Ichigo so didn’t show him his Shikai I think Aizen would refrain from using Bankai to still have some fun with people he is fighting.
I got the idea from seeing his comment during his fight with Yhwach that Aizen's Bankai is just an amped version of his Shikai, only difference being that he can't control the hypnosis and it's his Zanpakuto spirit that controls it. And that loss of control was why he was never willing to use it. "So you think you're gazing at Ichigo...fascinating."
I like this, because his shikai could be simple to moderate illusions and his bankai could make you literally trip on acid type of illusions or something grandiose. :D
I like the theory that attempts to explain why Aizen is so strong after being sealed: He actually WAS evolving just before being sealed, but Urahara figured that after being dealt a blow like Mugetsu, he'd be able to sow enough doubt in Aizen's mind for the seal to take effect. (Essentially he Gremmy'd him. Made him think that he was becoming weak enough to be sealed, so he did)

Maybe Aizen relied that much on his own power that he didn't bother to learn it, thinking that his shikai was enough. I mean he didn't use his shikai on Ichigo.....which if he did, he could have easily won.

speaking of Aizen's creepiness, I got the most red flags from him then any other shinigami during the soul society arc due to how much of a nice guy he was compared to everyone else. Gin had a few red flags, but compared to that, Aizen had a mountain's worth
Actually it does make a lot of sense if his shikai is his bankai, since Yhwach only broke bankai's and he was talking about breaking Aizen's Kyouka Suigetsu.
But that would be pretty inconsistent with what we know about shikai and Bankai. To use shikai, you call out a unique command and then say your zanpakuto's name. To use Bankai, you just say "Bankai" and your Bankai's name. So Aizen should only be able to activate his shikai by saying "Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu" and he shouldn't be able to activate his Bankai, without saying "Bankai".
@GOD OF ART Yes he does. In Bleach, names are very important, you can't use kido or a zanpakto, without knowing and saying it's name, and you can't use bankai, unless you say "Bankai" and you're bankai's full name.

I think we have seen Aizen's Bankai; he manipulated Juha's sense of time. Sense of time is not one of the five (or six if you include spiritual senses) main senses. I think his Bankai can manipulate all of your senses; which could be truly terrifying if you've ever looked into all the senses you actually have.
His Bankai could be similar to a mixture of extremely OP Genjutsu and Zabuza's Hidden Mist Jutsu all in one to completely ensnare the senses to make his opponents do whatever he wanted for however long Aizen wanted it to happen.
what if upon releasing Aizen's Bankai. it nullifies his shikai's effects on everyone, like a massive wipe. what if the Bankai requires someone to be free from the hypnosis, so it's own effects can take over.

BUT in bleach you had humans , quincies, shinigami and hollows And of course everything in between (vizards, etc...) this is just groups . While in MHA there are only quirks . These are the main points I wanted to show . So can you see the amount of wasted potential bleach had .
Bleach had great potential if only tite kubo isn't bad at making fight scenes. They always talk more instead of fighting more. That really annoys me about tite kubo.
It's entirely possible that when Kyoka Suigetsu itself is making direct contact, you can sense its spiritual pressure. The illusion can fall apart if you make physical contact with the 'projector'.
I've heard it said that why the "touch the sword" move breaks the illusion, is tied to the Zanpakuto's name and what it refers to: "Mirror Flower Water Moon" refers to the impossibility of trying to catch hold of something through it's reflection, such as a flower in a mirror, or the Moon reflected in water, with Kyoka Suigetsu being the flower/Moon, and its illusions being the reflections. By actually _touching_ the sword, and thus actually _catching what you are trying to grab hold of_ you invalidate the metaphor, thus breaking the illusion.

Yama still would have maybe discovered it, the same way Kenpachi discovered Tosen's. Being stabbed and suddenly have your senses change probably isn't something its easy to ignore.

The discussion here was if Yama was correct when he was stabbed by Aizen and said he could sense his sword's spiritual pressure. I like to think its a similar weakness to Tosen's bankai in that usually it isn't really one. But having an opponent that gets impaled and decides to say impaled and use it to their advantage makes a weird sort of sense with the rules being what they are. Also Yama and Kenpachi being similar also makes me smile. XD

I wouldn't be surprised if Kyoka Suigetsu's spirit was even more egotistical than Aizen himself and never saw him as worthy of seeing its true Bankai. Similar to how Ruriro Kujaku essentially half-asses its release when Ayasegawa calls it "Fuji Kujaku"; maybe KS' Bankai is the Kanzen Saimin, but because Aizen is ridiculously powerful even a half-assed bankai release on his zanpakuto's part is broken as fuck.

The Zanpakutou seem to reflect their owners. That being said, Ichigo seemed to have the impression that there was something under Aizen's façade which is part of why he failed. I wonder of Aizen got so good at manipulating others that he completely forgot what he himself originally wanted. Perhaps his sword would show that hidden side, they seem to be perceptive of things that even the people they are reflecting are not aware of.

@@joaquinriosrodriguez7316 A curious idea. I have always wondered how the interactions of other characters with their own Zanpakuto affect their perspectives. We have seen how Ichigo interacts with his (regardless of his awareness of the true nature of his Zanpakuto) and how that has led to a significant part of his development over the series. Outside of the rather enjoyable (In my opinion, I tend to rather enjoy filler arcs so it could be just me) filler arc we don't see the characters interact with their own swords as much. I would have liked for Kubo to expand on that just a bit, but that is just me. It occurs to me that there would likely be interactions between other characters and their respective weapons in undergoing similar development because it seems to me that a number of people underwent changes as the series went on. Not as much or as overtly as Ichigo, but still noticeable. Rukia, Renji, Byakuya, Chad, Uryu, Orihime, Kenpachi, and others including even Yamamoto. I would imagine that they would have interacted with their own Zanpakuto at some point to ponder the change.
I’m pretty sure ruriro kujaku didn’t release its full power or ability is more because the incantation is really important and needlessly changing it or lying would probably offend any spirit and not just because of who the owner is

Crazy part is ichigo didn’t beat aizen. He got back up perfectly fine after the final getsuga. Uraharas seal was the thing to actually stop him
Partially true, but Ichigo was the only one powerful enough to battle Aizen into a weakened enough state for the seal to even take place. Dangai Ichigo was the only one fast enough and strong enough to contend with Aizen’s new and overwhelming reiatsu, and also wasn’t under the spell of Kyoka Suigetsu. To put it in perspective, Aizen was still transforming, and was SO powerful that he had to be literally cleaved in half to even be remotely weak enough for the seal to work and have the hogyoku reject him as a host. This exhibits how powerful Aizen’s foe has to be to weaken him, and only Ichigo and his Final Getsuga Tensho form with Mugetsu could pull it off

Aizen may have been cruel to his enemies but he was never wicked. All he did was done in order to become the soul king and make the world better in his opinion. And in the end Ichigo said its possible he actually wanted to lose the final battle.

When Aizen said it was interesting that Yhwack thought he had impaled Ichigo, I think what he found interesting was the fact that Yhwach was still affected by the hypnosis even after absorbing the Soul King.
I think this was because Ywach encountered Aizen at some point back in the initial Quincy wars and Aizen used his Kyoka Suigetsu, but somehow Yhwach escaped without dying, and that also explains why Aizen was rated as a Top War Threat.
On the bankai thing, I think it just really isn't suited to battle situations. I think it was shown when Yhwach returned to the Soul Society extermination and mentions he was gone longer than he thought. This is Aizen's bankai; the ability to manipulate your 6th sense, or Circadian Rhythm. Which a pre-req could be, to be under the shikai hypnosis.
This line of logic ties a few points together actually.
I figured that it was when yhwach visited him in prison he used it since his sword was fused with him, so all he would need to do would be to get someone to look at him

The way it was described to me, Aizen never used his bankai because when he merged with his sword he already had a much greater power, just like Ichigo's mugetsu. Even though he didn't use his bankai, he still has access to all his swords powers like when he hypnotized Yhwach while sitting there. I think that he should also be able to use his bankai powers just as easily. While he never said "bankai" or had a flashy new form, I think that he still used his bankai ability. While fighting against Yhwach, he gets impaled and says something like "You think you are looking at Ichigo? Fascinating." This line wouldn't make any sense if he was using his regular powers to control Yhwach's senses cause he would know what illusion he was putting Yhwach under. This makes me think that Aizen's bankai is some kind of illusion that draws upon the thoughts and memories of the person he hits it with rather than creating an illusion himself. This would explain why he thought what Yhwach saw was interesting and how the illusion is so relevant despite Aizen not being able to witness any of the events that transpired earlier. Ichigo and Renji both appear in Aizen's illusion despite Aizen not knowing those two were the ones after Yhwach. Aizen could have sensed what was going and an guessed at some things but there is no reason why Aizen should have been able to create an illusion of Ichigo's new bankai without having seen the blade before. So Aizen's bankai in my theory loses the ability to carefully create any illusion Aizen desires for the added ability to use things from the target's memories to create a more convincing illusion to better fool the target.
Considering Papa Quincy could see and rearrange timelines, I've always figured the reason Aizen didn't know what Juha was seeing was because he was creating illusions over every timeline.

I always thought Yamamoto’s line revealed another one of aizen’s weaknesses - that being his limited perspective. Yamamoto knows what it’s actually like to stab in the gut, Aizen (presumably) doesn’t. If he doesn’t know what something feels like, he can try to replicate it, but it might not be accurate. Sorta like if someone could see infrared, he could TRY to mess with it, but he has no clue what infrared would look like to them, much less know how to change it.

I always thought that Aizen's Bankai was something that he despised using. Which is why he trained everything else to a ridiculous level. It would be OP whatever it is but I believe it is something that he hates. Which would fit into the story and why we haven't seen it. Of course in the end everything is going according to his plan.
Kinda like Soi-Fon’s Bankai being something she hates but very strong. So what if Aizen’s Bankai is puppeteering ones body entirely and no free will. I got the idea from seeing his comment during his fight with Yhwach that Aizen's Bankai is just an amped version of his Shikai, only difference being that he can't control the hypnosis and it's his Zanpakuto spirit that controls it. And that loss of control was why he was never willing to use it.

I like the theory that attempts to explain why Aizen is so strong after being sealed: He actually WAS evolving just before being sealed, but Urahara figured that after being dealt a blow like Mugetsu, he'd be able to sow enough doubt in Aizen's mind for the seal to take effect. (Essentially he Gremmy'd him. Made him think that he was becoming weak enough to be sealed, so he did)

Actually it does make a lot of sense if his shikai is his bankai, since Yhwach only broke bankai's and he was talking about breaking Aizen's Kyouka Suigetsu.
But that would be pretty inconsistent with what we know about shikai and Bankai. To use shikai, you call out a unique command and then say your zanpakuto's name. To use Bankai, you just say "Bankai" and your Bankai's name. So Aizen should only be able to activate his shikai by saying "Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu" and he shouldn't be able to activate his Bankai, without saying "Bankai".
@GOD OF ART Yes he does. In Bleach, names are very important, you can't use kido or a zanpakto, without knowing and saying it's name, and you can't use bankai, unless you say "Bankai" and you're bankai's full name.

I think we have seen Aizen's Bankai; he manipulated Juha's sense of time. Sense of time is not one of the five (or six if you include spiritual senses) main senses. I think his Bankai can manipulate all of your senses; which could be truly terrifying if you've ever looked into all the senses you actually have.

MHA is about heros fighting villians so those two are the main BIG groups in MHA .
BUT in bleach you had humans , quincies, shinigami and hollows
And of course everything in between (vizards, etc...) this is just groups .
In term of the world bleach had many dimensions such as the human realm , soul society , hueco mondo , and again everything in between.
Where as MHA only has one dimension(the world) .
And about power scaling
In bleach shinigamis had zanpakuto which is a sword that had a soul , quincies had light bows that evolved to different kinds of weapons, and arancars transformed into monsters.
While in MHA there are only quirks .
These are the main points I wanted to show . So can you see the amount of wasted potential bleach had .
Bleach had great potential if only tite kubo isn't bad at making fight scenes.
They always talk more instead of fighting more.
That really annoys me about tite kubo.

his bankai could be effecting other "senses" then just the physical 5 and spiritual senses. Like effecting someones sense of time to trap people in infinite illusion loops, or to make permanent alterations to some ones senses

I don't think Aizen ever told everyone about his swords weakness, the only person he told was Gin, I believe.
Yama still would have maybe discovered it, the same way Kenpachi discovered Tosen's. Being stabbed and suddenly have your senses change probably isn't something its easy to ignore.
Tosen I think wasn't affected cuz one has to see the activation of Kyoka Suigetsu to be under Aizen's hypnosis.
@@Onmitsukido we do know that yes that's why Tosen wasn't effected. It was even how it was revealed that Tosen was loyal to Aizen originally.
The discussion here was if Yama was correct when he was stabbed by Aizen and said he could sense his sword's spiritual pressure. I like to think its a similar weakness to Tosen's bankai in that usually it isn't really one.
But having an opponent that gets impaled and decides to say impaled and use it to their advantage makes a weird sort of sense with the rules being what they are. Also Yama and Kenpachi being similar also makes me smile. XD
