Yeah, just a natural progression of things. One of the best examples of this is Alanis Morissette's "You Ought to Know", probably the best breakup song ever written. If you watch the original music video and early performances of this song, it's full of anger and Alanis said it herself that the popularity of this song made it worse because every time she sang it, she would go back to thinking about it. But if you see the recent performances, 30 years later, she sings it as if it's just another song, with hardly any sign of any emotion towards the lyrics.
so true. i feel like her most recent performance of get him back! was similar in this way. the way she added a tone of sarcasm it felt like she was telling a story akin to slam poetry
@@maincoasters maybe but the general consensus and opinion of the whole comment section is about how different and lovely this version and performance vocally of deja vu is. i would be surprised if the instrumentation is rlly what they focused on.
@noitsbecky.4291 Arrangement is generally used to refer to the instrumentation, as in: scoring the piano guitar etc. She is a writer on her songs, but she doesn't write every line of music for every song and its variations.
@@DivineSora01 true but she is very keen and free on her creative process and isn’t just a doll in a a label so i don’t see it not being her or her collaborator. the writer of her songs is a better way of putting it. she makes the bulk of her songs and it’s lyrics since her producer is also her co writer which doesnt say much since he isn’t a writer.
@@amaugofaith1044 yea. olivia is a great artist and i love the return to pop punk. but almost every pop artist sings exactly in the same style as her, and im positive she didn't invent it
this is the best version omg. it sounds so soft and reflects the melancholia in the song so perfectly. she delivered the vocals so perfectly im obsessed. absolutely killed it.
I’m so tired of people comparing her to Taylor or says she is copying Taylor. I’m sorry, who made Taylor this keeper of certain music styles or doing certain things with music. Wild!? If you don’t like Olivia, just don’t listen. I like Taylor, but if I want to listen to a great lyricist who also has incredible vocal ability, I choose Olivia. I actually love Taylor, but I have appreciation for both ladies! They are both incredibly talented!
it less about vocals and more about her being nervous shes now much more comfortable and able to be free with her voice, but her vocals have always been amazing like this
The chord changes! What is this reinvention?! Angelic! My favorite song from SOUR and from Olivia's entire catalog. The lyrics is a challenge, almost taunt-like, "Yeah you're with her, but you'll never wipe me away." The final words are spoken with conviction and assurance and a little smirk cause she knows, "I KNOW YOU GET DE JA VU!"
One of her best songs, and hearing this acoustic arrangement is just magical. Such a haunting and gorgeous song and her vocals are absolutely bone-chilling!
Such an iconic venue at Hollywood Forever - Olivia is transitioning into sophistication vocally & stylistically right before our eyes. I'm sure all of the dearly departed entertainment legends enjoyed her spooky, wonderful concert ... 👻
this version of deja vu sounded astonishing, i wish i could listened to it on spotify all those changes made me adore the song even more and with her acting this is easiest one of my favorite performances of any artist ever

She thinks it's special But it's all reused That was our place, I found it first I made the jokes you tell to her when she's with you Do you get déjà vu when she's with you? Do you get déjà vu? (Ah), hmm Do you get déjà vu, huh? Do you call her Almost say my name? 'Cause let's be honest We kinda do sound the same Another actress I hate to think that I was just your type I'll bet that she knows Billy Joel 'Cause you played her "Uptown Girl" You're singing it together Now I bet you even tell her How you love her In between the chorus and the verse (ooh) (I love you) So when you gonna tell her That we did that, too? Since everyone seems to be in agreement that this is the best version ever performed of this song but aren’t sure why I’d just like to clarify that it’s the perfect instrument arrangement going on. The open chords being used in place of the standard A -> D in the verse and the introduction of passing minor chords notably on the A chord you hear (eg. When she sings the word special) That’s why it sounds so nostalgic and pretty, all joking aside this actually like if Nickleback wrote this song acoustically… it’s why all their music sounds ‘nostalgic’ Hope this helps
wow, the ending riffs and new runs are so beautiful, really shows how she has grown vocally and as a person and how she feels it differently through time
This is such an interesting rendition of the song. It’s more nostalgic reminiscent rather than angry. Love it
Well said

love the way she sang deja vu, the pauses, and phrasing it's like she's telling a story.

Her live singing is INCREDIBLE. Like, genuinely. Her stage presence, voice, timing is everything 😭❤
I love that voice!!
Whoever arranged this version deserves a raise and a promotion.
who else than herself? it’s her song.

No REALLL
I wish they were on Spotify 😭😭
The instrumental arrangement is absolutely beautiful
It’s acoustic so her voice stands out more than the original 💜
Her style of singing is so unique. Not just her voice but also the timing, pronunciation, breathing etc. There is no one else who sings like she does.

I love how this song used to sound with a lot of rage but now it sounds like beong nostalgic over a failed relationship. Her voice improved a lot too.
YASSSSS
she’s just unreal. the way she sings this song in a completely different version is superior. she’s the best🛐💓
I absolutely love how every single one of her performances sound completely different. Nothing's predictable.
this is an excellent point. i think people underestimate it but it takes such talent to be able to do that, truly.

It saddened us when Taylor was given the writing credits for Deja Vu, especially considering that I can't even hear any similarities.honestly.
Same Jacob!
effortlessly makes a 2 year old song sound completely new, yeah we're gonna be hearing about this girl for a long, long time
My favourite live version of Deja Vu, this is insane!!
