- The Danish String Quartet arrived at the Kaplan Penthouse for its Mostly Mozart debut with a fascinating program that began with Mozart’s arrangements of The Well-Tempered Clavier followed by Thomas Adès’s kaleidoscopic fantasy Arcadiana and Beethoven’s earth-moving Grosse Fuge.
This is deeply moving - and also brilliant ... absolutely B R I L L I A N T ... (the last Nielsen goes directly to your heart :)
A compelling interpretation of Arcadiana, capturing that longing for all we have lost, deeply affecting.....
A fantastic performance of the Grosse Fugue. I have heard several, but now this is my favorite.
we were there !

Lucky, lucky, lucky you...to hear them perform Grosse Fugue!!! You've done something very right in your life!!
What does it feel like to play in a string quartet? Please try to explain.
What is that beautiful piece at the end? Carl Nielsen... is that one of the string quartet arrangements or one of the folk songs?
It´s the coral "Mit hjerte altid vanker" (My Heart Always Wanders). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_hjerte_alltid_vanker

Not bad, but personally I like the folk music a lot more.
