@@alisha_singzso tldr explanation but like u have to reserve standby 1 day in advance. priority is reserved by d1’s d2s and then d3s in order of check in time. it’s first come first on the list but also in the order of ur priority! you also only get on if there are seats (standby) and you only pay coming back from a country (taxes). d3s are reserved for friends and family of employees! hope this helps (someone who’s mom works for american)
@@alisha_singz my mom works as a ramper for a company called unifi and it’s delta and united together and we have to sign up for the standby list at least before they start boarding the plane. unifi also does it by priority so whoever has been working the longest with the company or at any airport gets first pick. In my case we can go for free if we fly on united coach, we have to pay the tax if we want to upgrade our seats. on delta we have to pay tax for all seats. i’ve often gotten on a plane solely because someone missed the flight and i took their seat.
and! when they start boarding the plane if there is empty seats left the counter person will announce the standby list of who got on. it also shows up on the tv screens near the gate.

There are, on average, over 100 flights from Miami to Charleston daily...you could have booked any of those. I feel like some people just cannot live without drama in their life
in order to get on the flights for free as a family member of a pilot you don’t get to book the flight and get a guaranteed ticket. you have to wait on stand by and you get a seat for free if it isn’t filled by a paying customer.

After a 40 year career in the cockpit, plus pleasure travel, I’ve had enough. The airlines haven’t gotten so good at flexing their fleet size to keep the planes full, nonreving has become extremely unreliable. Now, I only fly when I have to and I just buy the ticket. The rest of the time I travel the country on my motorcycle to see up close all those things I’ve been flying over.😊

Both of her parents have worked for this benefit to be used by themselves and immediate family if they want to extend the benefit to them at their discretion. Something has indeed been given in order to receive the privilege somewhere in the transaction even though it wasn’t her directly who participated. The fact that her parents choose to share what is part of their compensation for their years of work isn’t a sign of entitlement. It’s a privilege, and she’s treating it as such by behaving appropriately while waiting and being transparent with her followers and admitting that she was risking her friendships to save herself the travel expense. This leaves plenty of room for criticism around how she prioritizes her social life and risking not being there for her friends. But using the word entitled is a misnomer. There are plenty of better suited words you can use to highlight her lack of accountability. Calling her entitled is simply incorrect. My dad used to fuel planes and he become really friendly with everyone that worked there so anytime we traveled we got free parking and we could skip a lot of queues including security.

Entitlement is commenting while nothing now a single thing. What she did was get a Standby ticket which employees of airlines and their family members get as a job perk. You book the standby ticket which you can get for cheap or free pending in the airline. Standby tickets are chance and do not guarantee a seat.

OMG, I know this feeling so well!! The worst was realizing that my flight to Spain, which I *thought* had plenty of open seats, turns out was almost entirely full (because apparently they didn’t have correct numbers on the codeshare site), but thankfully, I managed to get one of the last two seats! 😅 It’s an amazing benefit, but also, you’ve got to be flexible and able to roll with it!

So my mom worked for Ozark Airlines which merged with Trans World(TWA) which merged with American Airlines She survived both mergers based out of St. Louis MO…ended up working in the industry for over 30 years. I have flown over 200 times in my life standby when it works. It works. I’ve spent nights in airport sleeping at the gate and have been bumped off l”flights many many times that’s the nature of the beast. However it allowed my family to fly all over the country to watch me play pro baseball college football professional football True blessing again when it works it works.💯💯💯

Entitlement is mostly expressed through one’s temperament in response to not getting what they wanted.
In fact even a hard working person can be entitled in demeanour.
Take someone who works hard and pays taxes, someone who can afford to eat and live comfortably going to a soup kitchen for a free meal for example. Using a resource designed to be free for those who need it when you are not in need of it is entitled.
If she was late to the wedding and had consequences for being late like an upset friend for example, an entitled person wouldn’t entertain their feelings as being caused by their action or in this case inaction, they may even cause a scene over having to wait and gaslight the friend, etc.
Simply accepting and using a resource that was offered to her is not entitlement.
The fact that other people need to pay is irrelevant, as she is not taking resources away from them.
She’s simply using the resources her father and mother can provide when no one else is around to pay to take that same resource. Both of her parents have worked for this benefit to be used by themselves and immediate family if they want to extend the benefit to them at their discretion.
Something has indeed been given in order to receive the privilege somewhere in the transaction even though it wasn’t her directly who participated.
The fact that her parents choose to share what is part of their compensation for their years of work isn’t a sign of entitlement.
It’s a privilege, and she’s treating it as such by behaving appropriately while waiting and being transparent with her followers and admitting that she was risking her friendships to save herself the travel expense.
This leaves plenty of room for criticism around how she prioritizes her social life and risking not being there for her friends.
But using the word entitled is a misnomer.
There are plenty of better suited words you can use to highlight her lack of accountability.
Calling her entitled is simply incorrect.
And my saying so isn’t some kind of defence of her character, I’m simply encouraging accuracy.
You can’t expect people to do better when they’re being called out for behaviour they’re not exhibiting.
You can call her selfish, spoiled, cheap, privileged… so many things.
What fuels the need to prove she’s entitled if it’s not simply a product of a misinformed understanding of the word itself?

My dad used to fuel planes and he become really friendly with everyone that worked there so anytime we traveled we got free parking and we could skip a lot of queues including security.

You book the standby ticket which you can get for cheap or free pending in the airline. Standby tickets are chance and do not guarantee a seat.

OMG, I know this feeling so well!! The worst was realizing that my flight to Spain, which I *thought* had plenty of open seats, turns out was almost entirely full (because apparently they didn’t have correct numbers on the codeshare site), but thankfully, I managed to get one of the last two seats! 😅 It’s an amazing benefit, but also, you’ve got to be flexible and able to roll with it!

So my mom worked for Ozark Airlines which merged with Trans World(TWA) which merged with American Airlines
She survived both mergers based out of St. Louis MO…ended up working in the industry for over 30 years. I have flown over 200 times in my life standby when it works. It works. I’ve spent nights in airport sleeping at the gate and have been bumped off l”flights many many times that’s the nature of the beast. However it allowed my family to fly all over the country to watch me play pro baseball college football professional football

my dad is also a pilot n flying is so stressful for us too 😭 one time we were supposed to fly to missouri n we had no seats so we slept in the airport bc it was like 2:00 am n the next morning they still had no seat for the next flight so we js went home🥲
