My aunt Patricia Hicks was on this plane with her partner Sandy Williams! thank you all for your support! My family is grieving and still in shock. We are just praying her body is recovered and we find the cause of this crash that has taken the life of our beloved auntie Pat
A couple of very preliminary observations. Plane was based out of Renton, so it had to have Edo floats, which also contain landing gear so the plane can be used on a conventional runway. In Renton, floatplanes usually land in Lake Washington, deploy their gear, and then taxi up the ramp at the north end of the field.I live about 10 miles from the crash site. Weather was pretty decent. Occasional very light rain, 10 miles of visibility, light chop on water surface, temperature in the high 60s. So far, it looks like either a catastrophic structural failure, or pilot medical emergency because the plane "dove" into the water. There is literally the entire Puget Sound where he could have landed in the event of an engine failure. My guess is gross structural failure barring pilot incapacitation. Private pilot her, not seaplane rated, 30 years in the aviation industry.
Thanks for the local observations 🙏🏼 My thoughts as well….Both horrible potentialities. Condolences to all connected. Me..1500hrs the past 3 years.. I own a Mooney & a T210
I was reluctant to watch the whole video when the expert started off with an incorrect type of aircraft. It's a de Havilland turbine Otter, not a Beaver. There is a significant difference.
So, Scott Hamilton, the expert in aviation, is reporting the aircraft is a Beaver, but all other reports are it was an Otter. An Otter can carry 10 + persons, a Beaver does not have that many seats, and would be overloaded with 10 people. So much for the expert, and media, creditability. Still, a sad event.
@@cpcattin Details matter, especially when people's lives are involved. 'Experts on the highest level' don't make mistakes like identifying an aircraft not possible of carrying 10 people in an incident involving 10 passengers and crew. I will wait for the NTSB report before I listen to an 'expert ' that can't even get the type of aircraft correct.
@@carltheflpatriot69 Yes I did and Dan came out "punching". Dan's one of the best out there. If an operator is flying aircraft literally off the sea water, the operator needs to be proactive and go BEYOND what the FAA requires. It makes so much sense of why the elevator areas would require extra attention because of the spray from the floats. And if other similar aircraft have had issues, don't wait for an AD, the Director of Maintenace should pound their fist on the table and say every 6 months we're NDTing the elevator spars and attach points and doing extra detailed inspections of pitch/trim. If Dan is right in his theory, then the Director of Maintenance is to blame for this. So the question is, IS DAN RIGHT ?? If I were the director of maintenance, I would have serviceable horizontal stab and elevator assemblies with a green SERVICEABLE tag READY TO GO. I would have previously corresponded with engineers and came up with hourly figures. Let's just say 500 hours or 2 years whichever comes first. Then when that trigger is hit, the elevator assembly is pulled and the overhauled up to standards zero timed elevator assembly is installed, rigged, and tested. Sure, it's going to cost money, but if you lose an airplane and people, that will REALLY cost you. But that's my 3 cents worth.
I live on Whidbey island, it’s always weird when I hear about stuff happening here, I think the last time something happened near us would be the Bear-foot bandit, and that was just a few hours away
@@robbieogle8622 That case was (from the current evidence) much more likely to be an intentional crash of a commercial Boeing 737 in flightworthy condition, as opposed to this crash which seems more likely to be a catastrophic structural failure of an old weathered float plane that was on its last legs.
Iam not a aviation expert by any shape or form....but, it appears that some kind of critical part of this plane had a major malfunction structurally very very quickly causing it to go nose down at a steep angle with no time for any kind of radio responce . Planes subject to water coupled with aluminum can be a big problem if not checked often....just my opinion.
Could pilot have taken the “juice”? Although there is no definitive proof that the pilot of this plane was “juiced.” The company that operated the plane, however, frequently flies into Canada. All flight crews, pilots, truckers, passengers, etc. have been required to be fully “juiced” to travel in and out of Canada since January. Twelve of this particular plane’s final 29 flights went to Canada or originated in Canada (return trips).
@@derek9948, My rudimentary knowledge/memory of piloting tells me that a "weight balance" (math) is one of the essential items to check off before departures. While I do doubt that this pilot would skip something so basic one thought occurs to me... This plane was flying normally at only 700 feet altitude on these charters - give or take a hundred. That means if something bad happens (like for instance cargo shifts? Engine quits? Plane stalls?) the plane and pilot would have VERY little time to correct, adapt to, or fix the problem. So I'm no longer going to discount ANY possibility.

it could have been many things ; structural failure, mechanical issue, pilot incapacitated due to passing out ? whatever it was, the plane came down like a rock and the impact shredded everything, metal and organic bodies. Surprised they found one body. The rest is likely shredded to small pieces. Hitting water is like hitting cement. No survivors.......We know Christ walked on water, but he did not fall from an altitude......Bah......tragic all the way down.
That's my first thought. Once your nose down and accelerating it would be next to impossible to pull a body off the controls. At that rate of descent (183fps) they wouldn't have had time to react. At least it was over quick. Condolences to the families.
