Thanks Kimberly. I still get choked up watching this one. You never forget your fist time! LOL My first Full Marathon will be the WDW Marathon this coming January 2017 I just noticed all of your Disney vids. Can't wait to start watching. :)
My first Full was WDW Marathon in 2014, it is AMAZING!!!! You will love it!! Getting to run through all the parks helps keep your mind off the fact of how many miles it is lol. I got hooked on the Goofy challenge and someday hope to do the Dopey Challenge when I get better from Lyme Disease.
Absolutely. Keep an eye out for me. And ~ good luck getting ready and training. I will always remember my first (this video!) You'll never forget your first. There's just something about crossing that finish line after 13 miles and many months of training! :)
WDW Half was my first!!!! I will never forget the feeling of going down with a cramp at Mile 12 ... but still finishing the 13.1.Good luck with your training ... maybe we'll see each other on the course.
Gerald, congratulations on your run, brother! Great job! Your video is amazing - it really touched me seeing the double amputee on the course by you, and my heart broke for you around mile 12 in Epcot when that cramp hit you. Thank you so much for this video, maybe I'll see you in 2017!! Two things also - what did you use to make this video? The quality is amazing! Second, I am close to legally blind myself, I have a very rare eye disorder called keratoconus, and I have implants that, with glasses, let me have functional vision, but I've never known what it's like to see details that my wife and daughter can see easily. Thank you so much for this video!
Thanks Michael. And, you're welcome. It's heart warming to hear from a fellow runner who is visually impaired. Many just don't understand the challenges we face in training and navigating unknown courses and large crowds. I hoping to run 3 (or 4) runDisney races in 2017 and another 4 in 2018. Hopefully, I'll "see" you there. As to your question, I used a GoPro Hero 4 Silver (I believe I had it set on 1080p 60 fps Low Light) strapped to a Feiyu Tech G4 steady gimbal for GoPro. It took weeks, with assistance, to edit the video on Vegas Pro. The GoPro puts out great video, but the video had to be corrected for low light, light changes and some graininess. My more recent videos have gotten better as I have learned a little more about the camera's settings and how to use them while running. Happy training buddy.
Thank you. I use a steady gimbal. check out: www.feiyu-tech.com/products/6/ (It's the one I use with my GoPro Hero 4 Silver.) It's handheld and has taken some time to master. I've also had to develop creative ways to carry it.
LOL . It's called good editing and music. If I remember correctly, upon reviewing the raw footage, I thought "Wow, am I the one who breathes this hard?" I had to remind myself that the cam is really close to my mouth.
This was a good video recap. Impressive how far you have come since this one.
I teared up watching this before even reading your description. Your story is even more inspirational. Thanks for sharing.
I ran my first half around the same time in Dec 2017.Watching how far you have come inspires me to do it too.Thank you.
Thank you Sam! I know it's tough staying motivated and finding new goals... good luck on your journey. I'm with you.

cool! How did you record while running without a shaky cam?

Forget the steady cam. I'm trying to figure out how you are running and barely breathing hard ;-)!

How did you get back up? Did they ice your cramp?
Aww
Is it real gold ??? 🤓
It probably should be for teh amount we pay for the races LOL Hey ~ it's like real gold to me because it was my first half marathon finish.
