I believe that the HP's use a small barrel connector with a blue ring near the tip. My dad has an HP Pavilion 17 from the Windows 8 era which uses that particular tip, so most of the ones from that era must as well.
My Omen laptop came with the same blue port except it’s 150w I believe it’s standard across most modern hp machines but now I use thunderbolt to charge it.
Finally I comment out of the top 10 xD I like watching your videos like this man, not only do I like watching videos containing older type of machines, but for me, the nostalgia is real. One of these days, you should do a video about where you trick out the best upgradable laptop you have, like ram, and cpu, ect, and try to run heavy resource intensive programs on it lol. Great video
1:12 Lots of memories in 2011 I had a similar laptop like that but in 2009 I always tried to open Minecraft, never worked. I always used to watch youtubers playing minecraft at that time. Those times are so notaliga 4:53 Co incidently that laptop has one of those launchers Technic Awww miss those days :-(
Fond memories checking the web out by the coast with a weak 3G modem on one of those CQ60s, good times! The HP machines look fairly good, too. Definitely a nice haul.
Universal adapter is a good tool. With my very old Dells I use a Panasonic power brick that probably came with a printer, but the laptops don't seem to mind.
10:41. That's a nostalgic laptop for me. Well, the looks of it. My mom had an HP G60-125nr as her first laptop, basically the exact same style of that Compaq but with an HP instead of the Compaq one. 10:48. Well, with a silver-colored keyboard and Altec Lansing speakers instead. Similar, but not the same on the inside. 11:33. And hers had Windows Vista Home Premium instead. And just to further distinguish it, hers had an AMD Turion X2 RM-70, 3 gigs of RAM, a 250 gigabyte WD hard drive, nVidia Geforce Go 8200M graphics, and Vista Home Premium.
It's funny because that Toshiba is identical to one of the First Computers I have ever used. The one I have is broken so oof. Anyways, nice pickups! You earned a sub :)
Hey Michael, it's been a while since i've commented on any videos. I like the old computer videos very interesting and fun to see what people find out there, or leave lout there, either in the trash, or in your case giving away. I am more interested in desktop hardware though, as my main purpose for older hardware would be for some kind of networking, or server use. At the same time though, I prefer the feel of a desktop over a laptop. Do you, or have you done any recent desktop computer videos? If you have, i'm not always the best in keeping up to date on following channels. Great video, and have a great day!
Hey thanks for your comment! I haven't found many desktop machines out there recently but I've acquired some in the past. I have a playlist on my channel that has all of my thrift store and garage sale finds videos in it which is where I acquire most of these machines.
I repair laptops almost every week, those are pretty old ones that you have there. Last week I had a similar Satellite to work on it was a C660, it wouldn't start up so I measured first the charger and it was ok, than I torn it apart and measured the voltage that goes to the mainboard and everything was ok... the cause why it didn't wanted to start up was the faulty keyboard because it was probably shorted... A tip while using universal chargers: check the connector hole on the laptop how it looks like before forcing a charger pin in it because if you damage it you're screwed
I have a 2011/12 Fujitsu lifebook ah530 that is completely destroyed, it doesn't have a keyboard or screen, battery doesn't hold any charge and charger is broken. I think the hard drive is dead as well. I'm trying to see if I can get it working.
My dad has a compaq presario cq60 with HDMI which he bought just before windows 7 came out. Also why not set the resolution to 1366x768 then you get the best res
nVidia graphics seem pretty rare in the Intel ones. Used to buy these up since they were cheap and sell them with upgrades, never came across one with a dGPU. The AMD ones of course always have it but their CPUs run slow and hot compared to Intel of that generation. If you've got one with a GM45 chipset you can install a Core 2 Duo P8800, low 25W tdp and pretty fast too. If yours shipped with a Core 2 and not a Pentium then it probably does have that chipset. Some Pentium ones do too I think but only the 16" ones that came with Vista from what I can tell.
I ve a Win 10 HP laptop that is very similar to those two you have. The plug on the PSU is indeed tiny, and unlike the other HP plugs i have seen and used!
I had one of those compaq laptops in like 2009 learned a lot of coding on that machine but it was terrible, even running linux. Constantly overheating, replaced the fan like 3 times. It finally died when the hinges seized up over time and actually broke the plastic they where bolted to. Mine had the athlon II x2
I'm watching this from an identical Toshiba I was given 2 months ago. I replaced the CPU with a T9600, added RAM beyond what is officially supported, an SSD, removed the ODD and everything works perfectly. The T9600 is more powerful than new quad core Celerons.
I used a Toshiba Satellite C850 for six years, although it came with Windows 8 and I immediately replaced that with Ubuntu. I just recently turned it into my home server since it was falling apart :) Good practice for when I can replace it with a more power-efficient home server, then the poor Toshiba won't be good for anything but spare parts
I have two of the last laptop. I upgraded it to a dual core processor and 2gb of ram. I also have a higher end L655-s5106 that came with an i3-370m, a dvd-Rom Drive, and a 320gb hard drive. I have since upgraded it to an i5-560m, a 500gb hard drive, and a DVD-RW drive(it actually came from one of my CQ60 laptops) The case on mine is extremely well made and has little flex on the body.
I have a Toshiba Satellite C55 C5380 in black and I want it to look cool for a low price and I was thinking of getting a white keyboard and a white battery for it
I have a laptop from 2009, Compaq 615. I still use it today, but i turned it into desktop by adding external keyboard and mouse and monitor. I mean, it is in pristine condition, no keys are missing, no plastic is scratched and it can still be used for laptop, but its fan is loud and battery life is trash, so it just sits on my desk. Specs: AMD Athlon dual-core QL-66 @2.20 GHz 4 GB RAM 150G GB HDD ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics Windows 8.1 Pro x64
I had a cheaper version of that hp. It also had an AMD A10 CPU. Funny thing is I remember the guy at bestbuy was really hyping them up saying the A10 is AMD's version of a core i7 which was a straight up lie because I got mine and after a few weeks it was slow as molasses. Most if that was probably due to the 5400rpm HDD it came with. It was a real b*tch to get at too I had to take the keyboard off and the whole top palm rest and in the process I accidentally ripped the cable going to the usb and headphone which seems like they designed it to rip if an upgrade was attempted. So I guess my computer was the first to do away with the headphone jack and not apple
Oh, I have spare A8 laptop from about.. 2012? The hard drive was probably the issue, I put an SSD in and it was much faster. (To be fair, an SSD can make anything fast, but it was slow as heck on a 5400RPM, it would have even done better with a 7200)
I have the Toshiba satellite c50-a (I believe that's the name) running windows 8 smoothly but the battery needs to be replaced and should i get a ssd for good performance ??
10:50 the second that opened i was like "Hey, thats a good ol' cool 2012 summer night playin minecraft laptop, mine looks like that too"
@@cittycat7481 yep

A pity about those HP laptops, they look pretty dope. I hope you can find a power adapter for them, they look like very good computers.
An A10 is very slow by today's standards

i have an hp 15 laptop of a similar spec, it's not as good as it looks

most smaller HP laptops use that charger. My HP chromebook has the exact same charger
@@xanpagebrown Most likely. That charger is only rated for 45w I believe.
My Omen laptop came with the same blue port except it’s 150w I believe it’s standard across most modern hp machines but now I use thunderbolt to charge it.
Hey micheal do you want a toshiba laptop psu?
My mom still uses a Compaq identical to that one (minus the missing keys and filth)
Good laptops!
FYI: Usually those keys without the membrane and keycap can still be triggered by a finger, to activate them.
I have a power adapter for those silver HP Sleekbook laptops, if you haven't got one already

The HP machines look fairly good, too. Definitely a nice haul.
Thank you!
That first black Toshiba laptop you looked at looks almost exactly like my first laptop, only mine was silver... and defective.
12:33. Nope. On all HP and Compaq computers, the BIOS Setup key is F10. It has been that for at least 20 years by now.
7:37 I have one. It’s a hp envy 15 notebook
For the hp laptop you can press f11 at start up and go into the recvory partition and do a factory reset

fun fact: some of these mobile Sempron CPUs actually support overclocking. Did it a few times on a laptop.
The first Toshiba laptop looked a lot like one of my first laptops.
You can also dual-booted with Windows XP and Windows 7 on that Toshiba laptop and Compaq laptop and You can put Windows 10 on these 2 HP laptops.
