Addition:
With a mass of 1.02 M☉, Sirius B is estimated at 5 M☉ during its main-sequence.
Formula: T=(M/L)*10k(where k is the percentage of H in mass that can be burnt dring main-sequence)
Roche: r1/A=(0.49q^(2/3))/(0.6q^(2/3)+ln(1+q(^1/3))) (where q=M1/M2)
Sirius A will lose 1.4 M☉ during the Red Giant period.
However, Sirius B is unlikely to transform into a type-1a supernova due to its distance to Sirius A.
The key uncertainties are the speed at which mass is lost from the giant Sirius A, whether the material that lands on the white dwarf explodes on contact, and whether enough mass can be collected by the white dwarf to get close to the Chandrasekhar limit.
In order to explode as a supernova, the white dwarf must increase its mass to close to 1.4 times the mass of the Sun, known as the Chandrasekhar limit. It seems unlikely that it will be able to do this unless the wind from the AGB star is even slower than expected, especially as the orbit of the two stars will widen(oops I forgot) as mass escapes from the system as a whole. Even if the white dwarf were to capture this much mass. --astronomy.com/...

Woah are u the biggest asteroid
@@PBR--mg1xt WRONG.
Asteroids are potatos, and they tend to lack water. I'm actually composed of 25% water, making me more like a comet.
I have a hydrostatic equilibrium, which asteroids don't have, like Eros and several other asteroids. This means I have a spherical shape.
I have layers within my geosphere, which typical asteroids lack, with Vesta as an exception.
I even have an atmosphere, which asteroids are unable to retain.
This is why dwarf planets are unable to be considered asteroids, comets, and other non-dwarfic objects.
Wdym your the biggest asteroid
In the asteroid belt, also i need hydrogen
@@PBR--mg1xt NASA literally calls me a dwarf planet. I'm just not fitting for the catagory. Funny thing is that when DAWN arrived, it also carried what you called me before; an asteroid.
It seems to be this trend when the actual classifications are ruled out about everybody's opinions. Newsflash: Opinions do not decide an objects designation.
So yes, Pluto is a dwarf planet. Not a planet.
The stars chatting about what's happenning to them is so funny, make more like these

Sirius (/ˈsɪriəs/) is the brightest star in the night sky. Its name is derived from the Greek word Σείριος (Seirios, lit. 'glowing' or 'scorching'). The star is designated α Canis Majoris, Latinized to Alpha Canis Majoris, and abbreviated Alpha CMa or α CMa. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, Sirius is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. Sirius is a binary star consisting of a main-sequence star of spectral type A0 or A1, termed Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion of spectral type DA2, termed Sirius B. The distance between the two varies between 8.2 and 31.5 astronomical units as they orbit every 50 years.[25]
Sirius appears bright because of its intrinsic luminosity and its proximity to the Solar System. At a distance of 2.64 parsecs (8.6 ly), the Sirius system is one of Earth's nearest neighbours. Sirius is gradually moving closer to the Solar System, so it is expected to slightly increase in brightness over the next 60,000 years. After that time, its distance will begin to increase, and it will become fainter, but it will continue to be the brightest star in the Earth's night sky for approximately the next 210,000 years.[26]
Sirius A is about twice as massive as the Sun (M☉) and has an absolute visual magnitude of +1.42. It is 25 times as luminous as the Sun,[13] but has a significantly lower luminosity than other bright stars such as Canopus or Rigel. The system is between 200 and 300 million years old.[13] It was originally composed of two bright bluish stars. The more massive of these, Sirius B, consumed its resources and became a red giant before shedding its outer layers and collapsing into its current state as a white dwarf around 120 million years ago.[13]
Sirius is known colloquially as the "Dog Star", reflecting its prominence in its constellation, Canis Major (the Greater Dog).[19] The heliacal rising of Sirius marked the flooding of the Nile in Ancient Egypt and the "dog days" of summer for the ancient Greeks, while to the Polynesians, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, the star marked winter and was an important reference for their navigation around the Pacific Ocean.

🏭🔥🏭 INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY AND ITS FUTURE 🏭💯🏭
▶️Introduction ▶️
1️⃣. The Industrial Revolution 🏭 and its consequences have been a disaster 💣 for the human race. They have greatly increased ⬆️ the life-expectancy 🙏 of those of us who live in “advanced”. countries🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪, but they have destabilized society🌋, have made life unfulfilling 😭, have subjected human beings to indignities 🙈, have led to widespread psychological suffering❗️🧠❗️(in the Third World 🇸🇳🇵🇸🇸🇴🇿🇼 to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world 🔥🌳🔥. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation 📞➡️📱➡️⌚️➡️❓. It will certainly subject human beings 👨💼👩💻👩🎓🕵️♂️👨🏫👨🎨👰 to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world 🌲😢🌳, it will probably lead to greater social disruption 😱 and psychological suffering 🧠⛏️, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries 🇸🇬🇨🇦 🇪🇸🇸🇪.
2️⃣. The industrial-technological system may survive 🍃 or it may break down 🍂. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low ⬇️ level of physical 💪 and psychological 🧠 suffering, but only after passing through a long 🕐🕑🕒🕒🕓🕔🕕🕖🕗🕘🕙🕚🕛🕜🕝🕞🕟🕠🕡🕢🕣🕤🕥🕦🕧and very painful 🤕 period of adjustment and only at the cost 💰 of permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms 👨👩🦰🐼🦁🐷🐸🐱 to engineered 👷♂️👷♀️ products and mere cogs ⚙️ in the social machine. Furthermore, if the system survives, the consequences will be inevitable 💯: There is no way of reforming 💭 or modifying ❗️ the system so as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy🔓.
3️⃣. If the system breaks 💔 down the consequences will still be very painful 🤕. But the bigger 💪 the system grows ⬆️ the more disastrous the results of its breakdown will be, so if it is to break down it had best break down sooner 🔜 rather than later 🔚.
4️⃣. We therefore advocate a revolution ✊against the industrial system 🏭. This revolution may or may not make use of violence 🔫; it may be sudden 💥 or it may be a relatively gradual process 📈spanning a few decades. We can’t predict 🔮 any of that. But we do outline 🔲 in a very general way the measures 📏 that those who hate the industrial system 🏗 should take in order to prepare the way for a revolution ✊ against that form of society. This is not to be a POLITICAL 🏛revolution. Its object will be to overthrow not governments but the ecoqnomic 💰 and technological 💻 basis of the present society.
5️⃣. In this article we give attention to only some of the negative 👎 developments that have grown out of the industrial-technological 🏗📱 system. Other such developments we mention only briefly ⏱or ignore altogether. This does not mean that we regard these other developments as unimportant 🚫. For practical reasons we have to confine ⛓️ our discussion to areas that have received insufficient public attention or in which we have something 🆕 to say. For example, since there are well-developed environmental ♻️ and wilderness 🌱🌳🍃movements, we have written 📝 very little about environmental degradation 📉or the destruction of wild nature, even though we consider these to be highly important ❗️.

Sirius A and B are coincidentally named after their star types. My confusion was that Sirius B is (was) a B type star, which would be bigger than Sirius A, an A type star. This is the case because Sirius B, which was the bigger companion, is currently a white dwarf. It's now smaller than Sirius A, the A type, larger companion star. Hey, Astrocat, could you do animations of white dwarves colliding, forming both singularities and neutron stars? When does the difference occur?
All hail the Flying Feline!
your videos make astronomy so cute

Wait Sirius B/A was a white dwarf the whole time? I thought they were a neutron star smh
I still want to murder more stars
Yes I Knew That
yay a new video is out!! Love the intro XD
I love how it just said big shot at the end
I like how the stars talk to each other
Sirius B is a white dwarf and it might've been similar size to sun
"Why do we have no planets?"
"I blew them up!" (smile)
(I don't know why I didn't see this video when it was new. Apparently my notifications went wonky, AGAIN.)
