Folks checking out the game for the first time may want to run through the Standard campaign, while seasoned players of the original should definitely check out the Remastered campaign. While Manic Miners does emulate much of the core of the original LEGO Rock Raiders PC game, it is its own beast as well, and I think the Remastered campaign truly shows this best. 👌

I did have fun making up a team of miners, and recreating a couple mini-figures I used to have in my Lego town when I had it set up.

I've been having a blast with this remake. Baraklava and the ton of folks who've helped out with the project really outdid themselves. Genuinely I could not see LEGO themselves making a better remake. What a time to be a RR fan

I'm still hoping for Lego Stunt Rally, honestly. It was exactly what a Lego racing game should be, at least as far as the level editor is concerned (the racing gameplay itself was a bit meh, but still enough to hold your interest for a while). ...Honestly, I've always contemplated trying to remake it, at least in gameplay spirit, in Roblox... Maybe someday I actually might!

@@user-zx8yk5bm1g They're working on it! Project Island is basically a total reimagining, and there's mods to get the original Lego Island working on modern systems... As for remaking the original in a modern engine but keeping the gameplay the same, I... don't think I've heard of anyone doing that yet?
It's amazing just how good this remake is, and I can't wait for whatever mods people will make.

I never played the Rock Raiders game and never had any of the kits. Never even heard of this project. But the trailer came up on my feed when it was uploaded and I'm 100% certain it's only because I watch your channel
Rock Raiders was the first game I ever bought for myself as a kid. I still remember it vividly 24 years later. Can't wait to play the remake.

I can't seem to put it down. I've already spent 8-9 hours on it, and it's simply fantastic!
I also recall purchasing an authentic copy in 2002 on eBay from Germany (I reside in Italy). When I discovered the multi-language feature, it brought me so much joy!
By the way, I'm not entirely certain if a 9-year-old like me could successfully complete even the first 3 missions, haha.
I've been playing this for today, and I have to say that this game is awesome. From being able to customize your own Rock Raiders to the gameplay, it's a very impressive fan game.

this game is 100% a labor of love, I played the original Lego Rock Raiders in the early 2000's when I was a wee lad. This game is an excellent remake.

I've played lego island, racers, alpha team, even creator. But just like Rock Raiders sets never came in my posession until few years ago, I never had this game as a kid. It seems like now (well, in 10 days when I will return home) the perfect opportunity has arrived to play the Definitive version of the game!

As somebody who never got to experience Rock Raiders growing up, finally having an avenue to engage with Rock Raiders (aside from your fantastic content of course) is truly a treat.
Yesterday, I decided to record a "first 10 minutes" video of this game. After I closed OBS, I figured "eh, may as well play a bit more..."
It was 1am when I finally managed to stop. So yeah, uh, adding this to the "games I oughta record a full playthrough of once I've caught up on two years of polish school studying backlog" list, then.

I saw the official reveal trailer yesterday, customizable Rock Raider crews?!?! Oh yes, ohhhhh *YES* ! Baldurs Gate 3 AND the Rock Raiders Remaster, the legacy of the top down isometric strategy/rpg games remains strong in _current year_ .

Im already 7 hours into the game and loving it so much. Plus that killer soundtrack from a slug-themed youtuber really fits the original tracks back to back.
For point of reference, it is rare, almost impossible, that I would play a game continuously for any more than 3 hours at a time, let alone 6 to 7. I can't speak in a comment how much this game reminds me of what it means to be a LEGO fan, inside and out of the Rock Raiders theme.

This remake of Rock Raiders is just amazing and the attention to detail makes it just a perfect game. I used to play the 0.3 version and now I'm happy the final game is out. I first discovered it from your channel, Slugger (and I first discovered about Rock Raiders as a theme from you too 😅), I tried the unfinished version and really enioyed it. Can't wait to finish the final version and explore all of its possibilities!

I never played the original but I tried the beta version of this maybe a year ago now and even in development it has been a superb game to play. The ability to add community designed levels also adds to the longevity of it! I haven't played this new post-beta version yet, but I'm really looking forward to it!

I would love to see a PvP option in this game. Where you compete for the same resources, put dynamite on enemy buildings shoot at oponents like rockmonsters.
Also it may be interesting to introduce constructable artificial walls and a way to tame rockmonsters/slugs

Played the original PC game a lot back then, it and The Ultimate LEGO Book were my introduction to Rock Raiders as a kid in the mid 2000s. I'll have to play Manic Miners as soon as I can!

Been following Manic Miners for a while, I'm pretty excited to try the release out. There's something in the aesthetic I do miss about the original, but regardless I'm hoping the most important bit - the soul - is still there. And I'd sure imagine it is considering it's a bunch of diehard fans making it!

@@RRSlugger I think the closest thing to a sequel to power miners is Atlantis, as some scrapped power miners sets eventually developed into Atlantis vehicles. I wonder if there's any similar connection between RR and aquazone!

I literally just saw this a day or two ago and was surprised you hadn't featured it.
The game rocks!
There's an official LEGO game you should check out, if you haven't already, LEGO Brick Tales, a game kinda like Captain Toad with a LEGO building app attached, where you explore different themed locations and solve puzzles by building with LEGOs. It is a kind of LEGO game I've been wishing existed for years, a game where you actually solve puzzles by building with LEGOs. I'd say it is like if the LEGO MOVIE and the Captain Toad game had a baby, I'd love to see what you think of it.
Having played the game. I think a minor change and Rock Raider would be the perfect theme to work with lego GBC.
The next remake the community should work on is LEGO Racers. We already have a new LEGO Island and Bionicle game in the works, and the disaster that is LEGO 2K Drive will only mean demand for a proper LEGO racing game will be at an all time high.
Aside from that, it would also be cool to see a LEGOLAND game that plays more like Rollercoaster Tycoon and replaces Mr Tumble with new proper voice acting. In addition to a fully realized reboot of LEGO Creator and a redefined LEGO Stunt Rally that feels like a genuine racer and isn't a multiplayer only based indie game on Steam.
Wow! I hae try this out! Also, I really enjoy your channel. The vibes, nerdyness (In the best way) and enthusiasm is just what I wanted. It is like a mix of Rick on planet nipple and LGR. I love your selfmade soundtracks as well. I listen to Lego game music when I need a pickmeup and your music is a perfect companion to the OG soundtracks. I hope you may add something of Lego Racers in the future? Lego Racers to me is the perfect game. It is immersive, vast and makes the subthemes come alive and connect to each other. When you talked about Ice planet 2002 and the fantastic ship you recommended, why not add a shot of the ship in orbit in LR1 and the awesome sounds it make.
