Wide Open: The Andre Rison Story is a film based on the true story of NFL Hall of Fame nominated wide receiver Andre Rison.
As a youth growing up in the 1970's in West Virginia and later
Flint Michigan, Andre's dream of becoming a professional athlete presented enormous challenges. He was faced with racial tensions along his journey at a time when African Americans were beginning to make great strides in the world of sports.
During the 1980's Andre's road to greatness would include becoming a star athlete for Flint Michigan Northwestern High School and then on to college at Michigan State University where he was recognized for his superior athleticism and in 1989 was drafted into the NFL as a first round pick to the Indianapolis Colts. After being traded from Indianapolis to the Atlanta Falcons Andre's personal life and professional career began to change.
The 1990's party and music scene in Atlanta would introduce him to a hot bed of black culture and a tumultuous relationship with the late-great rapper Lisa "Left eye" Lopes of the pop group TLC that resulted in her burning down his house. Bad Moon Rison (the name he received during these times) would soon find himself on a rollercoaster ride that would threaten his life and career.
