    Thanks for good video. Did you seal the container with also transparent cover? I wanna try this method with plastic cup but there is only colored cover which block the sun light..

    Hi! When you transfer these germinated leaf cuttings, do you place them in a pot medium with holes at the bottom, inside a ziplock?

    Btw do you have Solanum capsicastrum in your collection? I see that some ppl grow it as bonsai.

    I was walking along a mountain stream today and saw along the bank of the stream these gorgeous grassy plant with al sorts of colors on its stem and thick crude black hairlike "hair". then to my amazement, I saw tiny flies on its surface and realized it was a hunter plant.mmmmm. I decided to plant it again as they are very vulnerable and need extra care which I am not prepare to do. Tough grasses was my intent. amazing stuff. I want to know if this sort of propagating can be done with any plant's leave?

    Hey *****
    i have been growing some cape sundew leaf cuttings inside some of my water trays and in small clear containers on my back patio; now that i have said that, i must note that the ones in water trays for some of my other plants have a bunch of nice little rosettes grown while the other ones inside clear containers are just kinda--there. So my question is: since the cuttings in the dirty water have a bunch of rosettes, some that have a bunch of their own tentacles all ready, how will i know when to transplant them into their own little pots? I was told that i should do so once i start to see little roots growing out of the bottom of the leaf cuttings, which would be opposite of where the rosettes are growing. But as we are going into week 6, i have yet to see any roots growing at all. I live in western Washington State, and both groups of test subjects are on south facing patio.
    Oh, one more question, could you tell me why the clippings that are inside of the dirty water trays for my other plants is doing so much better than my clippings that are in their individual containers with--clean--water?

    Awesome ! looking forward. Btw the way , can you use the orchid soil for nepenthes? As far as I know this 2 plants live in the same place . So is that ok?

    • @waffleauflauf4213
      @waffleauflauf4213 2 года назад +1

      Yes! Orchid soil/moss is usually untreated Long Fibered Sphagnum moss. It's what all of my nepenthes are planted and happy in, and it's the best substrate for them :)

    I'm afraid I don't know. I just take pullings from them and lay them on moss.

    On the Capensis on you have there in the glass bowl, do you cut the plantlet off the main leaf with scissors and then plant that?

    that's where i went wrong with the tracyii-i just planted the plantlets into the peat and they dried up pretty quickly. next year I'll do better

  • @olivialarochelle645
    @olivialarochelle645 8 лет назад

    I'm failing to find any perlite or peat moss, can you just use spagnum long fibered moss? Plantlets are already growing out of three different leaves and and I got my drosera around 4 days ago. It's my first one and I don't really know how to deal with more than one... also what stores sell peat moss and perlite that's uninriched with miracle grow?

    • @tk-9704

  • @awhatzable

    which section of the leaves can we cut and grow this way? top,middle,bottom? also, how do we know when to take them out?

    • @mercurydude
      @mercurydude 3 года назад +1

      Any part of the leaf that has the little red tentacles will grow plantlets. I would say take them out when they are tall enough to not get buried by whatever medium you're putting them in. I recently potted some that are about the size seen in Brad's video, and they are doing fine.

      Naa, i leave it attached and plant them in very very water logged soil.

    I got tons of S. Capsicastrum . I planted some seeds and got so many of them that I don't have any idea what to do with them . Not many plant enthusiasts near me to give them away .... I could send you one if you need but it would cost way to much for the shipping.

    I’ve been trying to propagate my drosera spatulata for two months now. The leaf has still not produced any plantlets. Have you ever tried flower stem propogation?

    • @chevyfish4028

      It took several months to start growing new plantlets for me. I put drosera filiformis clippings in a closed plastic water bottle with distilled water and floated it in my fishtank which had a light on a timer over it. Seemed to take forever but once the little bumps showed up on the stems, the growth was faster. Waiting til this happens is the hardest part. Good luck with your plants. 🌱

    the commercial growers just throw a load of cuttings into a pot, I have just bought a D.Capensis pot of plants for £4.00 GBP here in the uk after separating them into individual growing pots I had 24 viable plants. the diy bog will have to get bigger for 2018.
