i got this for the 14700k as its rated at 270W TDP however it can not keep up past beyond 200W even with proper undervolting of the CPU. I got an MSI z790 m/b and 200W is the highest it can get to keep it under 90-95'C with a couple of throttle spikes. I've also tried a few different thermal paste setups, both the traditional evenly scraping the paste and also some few beads like in the video. still same outcome. Any suggestions as I am hoping not to return it for an AIO
Thanks for sharing! It's important to remember that with CPUs like the 14700K, it's common for temperatures to rise above 90°C under load. This doesn't indicate a problem with your cooler - it's how modern CPUs are designed to maximize performance. The Dark Rock Pro 5 is built to handle this kind of heat. You can read more about this in our blog article on modern CPU cooling: www.bequiet.com/en/cpucoolercheck

I currently have a coolermaster 212 evo, I don't see you using any special bracket for the back of a AM4 board besides the one that comes with these systems. If I am looking to purchase one of these, do you think I could use the coolermaster brackets? I believe I still have my AM4 piece for the back of the board, just curious.

My screws were way too short and the amount of stress I went through because it took me so long to get them finally in by also using a completely different approach makes you owe me money. It would not have hurt you if you made the screws just a tiny bit longer. Why do they have to be as short as possible? Because I used so much force I have to now request a replacement because the heatsinks bent and also made weird clicking noises. I'm glad I did not destroy my CPU by trying to install this horrible cooler. I barely screwed one side in and tried to screw in the other side but they were always too short. Even using pressure was not enough to get the second screw in. Screw your designers. Make the screws longer.

Yes, because the Dark Rock Pro 5 has a mounting bridge that is fixed to the cooler, which makes installation much easier, and unlike its predecessor, no fan clips are used for the middle fan.
