    I'm an ex-Muslim atheist too and I love Hugh Ross. A really sweet guy. He has a calm and soothing voice which is pleasant to listen to. He never attacks other people, although he is often the subject of personal attacks. There's just an aura of Christ like peaceableness to him.
    He's a great representative of Christianity. Plus, he's very smart. He's an astronomer. I'm really glad you had him on Abdullah. I'm loving this outreach you're doing to Christians lately. It's very broadminded of you. Keep it up.

      Believing Christians like Hugh Ross are wonderfully benevolent spiritual people.
      And the Bible may be the most concordant with cosmology, of the major scriptures, but it doesn't justify depicting the mystery of creation as an anthropomorphic finite "being," who writes books at certain points in time -
      and has historically allowed unspeakable horrors committed by clergy of all creeds.
      The twinning of the Book of Mormon with the Quran is insightful.
      The latter contains innumerable plagiarisms from several traditions - getting them wrong all of the times.

    Abdullah Sameer, you asked a very good question as follows and I would like to answer your question: First for the sake of clarity, I would like to repeat your question as follows: "Why would God create a hell? like..if I don't want anything to do with God.. for whatever reason....as an example with my children..let's say I have some children...I do..I have 5 kids actually...and..let's say..you know God forbid (God forbid) that...one of them..you know.. bunch of them.. they grow up to be disobedient, rebelious...they hate my guts..maybe I am a good dad let's just say theoretically I am a great dad, I did everything I could do for them, but they still end up hating my guts, they ss..whenever they see me they're like shouting at me, and then they're like i don't want anything to do with you, for whatever reason right, I would still not wish any sort of harm to come to my children, non nothing. But like what we are saying about God is God is making these threat that if you don't believe me, if you don't accept that my son died for your sins, you're going to be tormented in hell forever. It just seems to be very strange that a loving God would do such a thing. How do you reconcile that?
    My answer: Abdullah Sameer, if you love your children very much, by definition, God should love His children (all mankind) even more; otherwise by definition, He wouldn't be a perfect God; He would be morally deficient. I am not sure about how you raise your 5 kids, but I do know that many good fathers make rules or laws at home by which they expect their children to live. The rules these fathers make are not there to harm their children, but rather, these rules are there to make the children grow up in such a way that they become responsible for their actions at home, in societies, communities and the world at large. And because you make the rules, you become the judge as well. Hence, your'e not only the father of your children, you are also the judge of your children. You execute justice by carrying out punishment like giving your child a timeup for going against the rules you have made. In the same way, God who is the father of all mankind, is also the Judge of all mankind. He makes His laws (the Ten Commandments) and will Judge all mankind according to His laws. Unfortunately for you Abdullah, you are not a perfect being and that is why you cannot execute justice on your children every time they go against the rules you make; you let some of the faults of your children slide away unpunished. God on the other hand is a perfect Being. He is completely perfect in His attributes of being the most just, an so He must punish every sin committed or the price must be paid for every sin committed; otherwise He would not be perfect and therefore would not be God since just like you are in imperfect in executing justice by letting some of the faults of your children slide away unpunished, God would also be imperfect if He let some sins slide away unpunished.
    However, just as you wouldn't want any harm to come to your children no matter what (which is probably why you would let some faults of your children slide away unpunished), even more would God never want any harm come to His children (even though He doesn't let any sin slide away unpunished, as that would contradict His nature of being perfect in His justice). Therefore God being perfect in His love and mercy must also forgive all sins committed by mankind; otherwise He would not be perfect in His love and mercy. Now how can God be perfect in His justice and perfect in His love and mercy at the same time?? The answer is that the price of the sins of all mankind must be paid, and considering how great that price is, it would take a great and perfect God to pay that price; and this is what the christian message is all about, that God in his infinite love and mercy became man, dwelled among us and paid the ultimate price so that all sins can be forgiven, and in this way, He maintain His perfect nature of being the most just and being the most loving and merciful.

    I didn’t watch the whole video so bear with me if this question was already addressed in the video, but I don’t understand how the Bible supposedly corroborates with scientific cosmological stances, as Dr. Hugh Ross claims... in Genesis 1:1-19, God is said to have created the heavens and the earth on the first day of creation and the sun, moon, and other planets on the fourth day. This contradicts the scientific fact that the sun and stars existed long before the earth. How do you reconcile the aforementioned biblical teaching with the scientific fact of the existence of the sun and earth? Which one do you ignore and take as a fact?
    I’m an exmuslim athiest btw so I’m not trying to propose that any religion is better; I’m just curious about how he reconciles between these things...

    • @manulajo1803
      @manulajo1803 5 лет назад +3

      He did explained it in more detail in other videos . I'm just trying to repeat what he explained. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth that is universe which includes the universal bodies. From the first day the point of reference shifted to the surface of the earth. The earth was dark not because there was no sun but because of the thick blanket of cloud as mentioned in job. So when he said let there be light he didn't create light but the opaque cloud covering became translucent. It's only on the fourth day(period)that this continuous thinning reached a point when it became transparent that the moon, sun, stars could be seen from the surface of the earth. Notice that he created the heavenly bodies in the beginning but from the view of the earth's surface they could be seen only later when the thick gases thinned down.
      It's better if you listen to some of his videos for his explanation to these questions.Thanks

    • @Maaz_Tahir
      @Maaz_Tahir 5 лет назад +4

      Lajong Shill Not gonna lie, that just sounds like some crazy mental gymnastics that pretty much anyone of any religion can replicate to that degree and deem their religion as true. What I’m saying is that according to the scientific cosmological standpoint, the Sun was in existence long before the Earth. But the biblical view clearly states that the Earth was created on day one and the sun was created on day 4, which clearly contradicts this scientific fact.

    • @manulajo1803
      @manulajo1803 5 лет назад +3

      @@Maaz_Tahir I agree with the gymnastics part. But you see the word create the heavens and the earth (universe) appear only before day one.no time period is mentioned there. It never said that he created them in day four. Day 1 to day 6 is describing what appeared and happened only on the surface of the earth not of the whole universe.
      What I understand from what he said is that the sun stars and earth etc were created before day 1 without indicating which was created before which. It was only in day 4 they could be seen from the earth's surface

    • @kaneinkansas
      @kaneinkansas 5 лет назад +2

      I think, as I am re-interpreting things, that Jesus wants us to have free will and encourage us to seek the truth. Much of the gospel is advice on how to do this, and how to cope with this, and what truth looks like etc... It seems obvious to me now, I don't know why I didn't realize it earlier, that God gave us enough free will to not choose him, then we not choose him, then he creates a remedy, a way back to him, that at the same time preserves our free will, that way back is Jesus sacrifice. So the reason for the sacrifice is to restore us and give us free will. The prodigal son is the story of our search for truth & love from God's perspective. This is, I think all so very beautiful. So, as long as someone is honestly searching for the truth, he is taking advantage of the free will God gave us and Jesus sacrificed for us to have so we will find our way to him. Atheist on this path make up the best Christians, CS Lewis, David Wood, etc...

    • @kaneinkansas
      @kaneinkansas 5 лет назад +1

      @@kingattila506 I love this theme. After we reject God, he has several choices. He could take away our free will and then we would never sin OR he could allow us to continue on with free will and no remedy and we'd all (or most anyway) would go to hell OR he could provide the remedy in his dying for us.
      What also comes through is that the remedy for suffering in this life, is love. Love trifles all sufferance. My parents sacrificed much for me and my siblings, but they never saw it as sufferance as they were acting out of their love for us - they did it feely and gladly. Their love for us trifled the sufferance for us that they endured. The magnatude of God's love for us trifles the suffering of his passion and makes the sufferance on the cross possible. This is why I like some of the crucifix sculpture found in Catholicism. On the one hand it is gruesome. On the other hand, it is the photo negative of God's love for us - which must be abundant.
      These themes are overwhelming to ponder.

      @Smidlee (I will not correct or edit any of this post, sorry if the spelling or grammar sucks, I just want to toss out my response and stick with it.)
      About your hypothetical "Let's say we were twins."
      I can make up stories about "what if too" I mean isn't that what human do? Makeup stories about things we have no explanations for?
      About humans not being satisfied, I agree totally. That is what science does for us, help us understand our universe. Do we have all the answers? Of course not! But because we have the ability through science, to gain new knowledge, new explanations for those things humans wonder about, we can leave mythology behind us. Great to be alive today right?
      Regarding your "evidence that life is not the "final stop."
      We do understand we will die, scary huh? Does a fly not fulfil all of the desires, drives you describe? Food, water, sex? But because a fly is not aware, it need not make up gods in its image, right?
      No human wants to face their own mortality, I don't, that is why I live in the moment. Over two years ago I was told I had six months to live. It was even such a sure thing, a financial company bought my life insurance policy, and paid me cash, LOTS of cash.
      They pay the premium every month. I had under four years left on the term policy. Their doctors were so sure I'd be dead right now, and they would get a big pay off. So, I just live each day, maybe their "bet" will pay off, maybe not.
      My life is pretty great, why? Luck. I happened to be born where I was, to a privileged life, not rich, but damn, things are good. I am not afraid of being dead, but the act of dying.
      I have seen many people die, I even held a few in my arms as they died. Many others died alone, people I knew. Some folks die in a lot of pain, angry, or sad, or just scared, like all of us, like I will like YOU will.
      You see, we all do not know about non-existence. Humans make up stories, we write books about it, create gods, goddesses, religions. Lots and LOTS of religions. Dead is scary.
      I enjoy the moment, I enjoy this moment, sharing my thoughts with you, with my friends, family. All any of us have in now my friend. Cheers.

      @Smidlee A belief or desire for something is not evidence. That is why there are thousands of gods throughout human history buddy. We are animals, with the ability to understand that we die. I can make up any "afterlife," I can gather followers, who believe in my idea, does not make it true, sorry. Google "Peoples Temple - Jim Jones" Or "Heavens Gate Marshell Applewhite" Just people making up stuff, religion.

    • @theDyingAtheist
      @theDyingAtheist 5 лет назад

      @Smidlee I guess you are not understanding me, sorry if I'm not being clear with my points. I'm trying to point out beliefs in god, gods, myths, they are all man-made. Humans create these, but there is no proof for any of these beliefs. I guess humans just pick one or are born into whatever religion makes them "feel" good. More and more critical thinking folks just say, show us the evidence, until you do, we really are not persuaded.
      Pointing to a book, or saying I "feel" or I had an emotional experience, is not evidence. Humans just have these experiences, whether they tie them to some god or myth is not proof. Sorry, Smidlee, if you are happy with that, I'm not trying to make you feel uncomfortable, I'm not saying you can't believe whatever you want to believe.
      Feel free to do your rituals, as long as they don't impinge on me. I'm not interested in any sort of religion, god, goddess or myth, I have no need for any of them.

      "The Dying Atheist I telling you this is false. The desire for God is no more man-made as the desire for food ,water or sex. " This line of thought has led to some scientists claiming that “atheism is psychologically impossible because of the way humans think,” says Graham Lawton, an avowed atheist himself, writing in the New Scientist. “They point to studies showing, for example, that even people who claim to be committed atheists tacitly hold religious beliefs, such as the existence of an immortal soul.” www.science20.com/writer_on_the_edge/blog/scientists_discover_that_atheists_might_not_exist_and_thats_not_a_joke-139982#.U77neYQckwA.facebook

Everyone thought the universe was a few thousand years old until science proved that it is 13.8 billion years, then all of a sudden "oh well actually a day isn't really 24 hours in Genesis." Diseases were demonic possessions or caused by sin until science discovered germs and viruses. Many things in the Bible are describing the history of the Israelites and the life of Jesus. I think the most important things we should get from Creation in Genesis is that God is the created of all things. He made earth to be habitable and filled it with life and unlike other living things on earth, he made us in his likeness and image.Like a parent providing for his children and loves them unconditionally.Old, young, expanding, oscillating, Big Bang, none of it is relevant. I just don’t see that as anything that Jesus really thought we needed to know.I still think he is a brother in Christ and I hope he brings people to God.It is so refreshing to hear some reasonable and rational atheists who are interested in Christianity.God bless all of you.

      Acts 1.21-26
      So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us-one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection." And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also called Justus, and Matthias. And they prayed and said, "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place." And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
      There you have it.Paul is ,correctly, referring to the 12 ,all of whom witnessed the resurrection,including Matthias ,and stating that he is to be ' numbered with the 11'.Paul is referring to the 12 he knows ,when referencing a recent event.It's called prolepsis ,I believe.The other explanation would be that the '12' merely is an honorific title for the core group of disciples ,and is kept as their 'name ' even when their number is less ,or greater than that.

No one will understand the old without the new to complete the understanding of its mysteries

    • @Hopeof7suns
      @Hopeof7suns 5 лет назад

      Truth Alone ok first of all I have read the text in my own source , thank you for the reference... this portion of scripture is referring to an evil man named Judah who sold his brother into slavery out of jealousy, and then later told his other son to “give his dead brother some sons” which unless you ask a rabbi what that means I can only assume it is referring to a common custom of passing along wives and offspring in that ancient nomadic culture? Or that he is speaking metaphorically and just arranging their marriage (although not likely). The issue was that Judah is evil, we was evil (for reasons it doesn’t say) and died, and this other son who did Not want to impregnate the woman died also because he was “evil” for what reason? Is it the reason you said? Not really. It WASNT that he felt bad for the woman and refused to impregnate his own sister in law (which would have been normal back then to sometimes marry widows in the family ), BUT he was found evil bc he did not want to give an inheritance of children for his family members. So the root of this act wasn’t sympathy or nobility but jealousy and bitterness... so since he came from a whole line of evil dad and brothers, it’s not so weird that he died. There was a purification that was taking place in the Hebrew blood lines back in the ancient days. This is also why we have the great flood etc. there was a big reason for spiritual cleansing and if someone was evil beyond repair with a heart that would never turn away from evil, then that person was beyond help. Hope that helps... a lot of the stuff in the Old Testament is super super old (thousands or even hundreds of thousands of yrs old) and some stuff is not acceptable today in society but was at that time bc life was harsh and difficult. Also a lot of it isn’t saying “this and that happened (and therefore God approves)”.. but it is merely stating “this and that happened” and doesn’t state if God approves or disapproves bc it is just telling the story that happened. If you tell me a horrible story of what happened to your friend it would be stupid to assume that you approve of it just for telling me the story.

      Here is a full commentary and teaching on this story. It was also used to show contrast in the good and evil differences in the brothers Judah and Jacob lives.

      Truth Alone you’re not looking for answers or discussion, you just want arguments . So answering you many questions is pointless for me. No thank you. If you don’t want to believe in Yahweh that’s your problem. Other worlds religions gods don’t get interrogated nearly as much as Yeshua. That alone should make people ask why? Since other gods and beliefs have many things we can say is disgusting in the holy books or things we don’t understand etc. you won’t find truth alone as long as you keep criticizing instead of seek to understand for yourself. Stop asking everyone else and ask Yahweh yourself why He did this and that. Don’t forget the triune God we worship is 3 in 1. So you’re technically incorrect to say Jesus did these things. Yahweh did.
