Based on these mythology, Chang’e is current the name of China’s lunar exploration program (Like Apollo in Roman mythology), and the they named the moon rover as jade rabbit.

These stories are all new to me. I find it interesting that so many different cultures around the world viewed the moon as female and often a goddess. Thank you!

The more I read about different mythologies, the more I learn about different cultures. And the more I delve into the details, the more I see how similar we all are. It’s humbling.

Personally, my favorite version is when neither Ho Yi nor Chang'e want to selfishly drink the elixir. I think it adds a layer of tragedy in which they didn't deserve to be separated. 👑

I am presently reading A Chinese Bestiary: Strange Creatures from the Guide Ways Through Mountains and Seas.
Strange creatures with a few recordings of actual real animals. Not wacky, like Japanese yokai.

Your stories are well told. Would be great if your pronunciation of the Chinese names were more accurate - Chang Err, not Chang E

So if we ever actually find a way through the radiation belt we'll find a dusty old Chinese lady on the moon? 😅

Ten Suns would make the Solar System a gravitational nightmare. The Planets would have distorted orbits by the pull of all those suns and all likely the Earth would be hurled into one of them. Maybe it's good it's a myth.

If you’re into Sci-fi, I recommend ‘The Three Body Problem’ (The book as the TV series doesn’t do it justice).

@@MystOfMythology Think I heard of that book, have to check it out. "Three Body interaction" is an effect where if three objects are gravitationally bound, the smallest of the three would be forced out by the other two. But it might not be the same thing in the book.

@@mikeburkhart8336 Add an Alien Solar system to that and you have the plot of the book.
