i do same thing on my thinkpad 370, but its not work... Why...? I do what you do and When i plug A charger its only blinking on power button 3x but not power up, the machine off
Maybe bad charge port or charger. Not sure.

It needs to be the same DDR or PC number and in some cases the same speed.
Mine seems to have a soldered on RAM.. Is it upgradeable to 16GB?
