2023 Charrette Student Design Challenge

Students from across RIT’s College of Art and Design (CAD) gathered to showcase their wearable sculptures on October 5 as part of the annual Charrette student design challenge. Each year, students enrolled in foundations courses within CAD are asked to participate in the challenge by creating a wearable sculpture over the course of one week. The challenge culminates in a showcase where students model their designs for a panel of judges. This year’s theme was “rhythm.”
Starting in 2022, a small number of student designs are chosen to show off their designs on a real runway during Rochester Fashion Week. You can look for RIT designs in the 2023 Rochester Fashion Week lineup on Thursday, October 12.
