    You speak and express yourself so well. There's no "uhm.." or stuttering. Instead you take these small breaks to think about what to say (that's what it seems like at least). You also have a great body language with arm movements and so on. Is this something you have actively practiced? It's a skill that I admire and would like to become better at myself.

    I went to a military academy in high school, over 50% of the students were from outside the US. That really opened my eyes to the world, it was great getting perspectives and hearing about life in those countries. Still remember my good friends 20 some years later. But I know the feeling, being totally out of your element. You just got to suck it up and go!

That point about listening and understanding other's mistakes is so true, yet, as youngsters, many dismiss their elders, and have to go through the mistakes on their own. Your story might be the most honest thing I have ever seen. The one key that so many miss on the path to redemption is honesty and accepting personal responsibility, which is why they keep repeating the same self destructive patterns. You have so much to offer this world.

    Different in my day. There were no tests etc at Nogent(might have been different if i had joined at Nogent) . It all happened at Aubagne. I did a week in Lille (no tests just work), a day in Nogent basically sat in a red hot room with a drinks machine.... torture as it only took coins and they had taken all our coins, just leaving us with notes (francs back then). Then overnight TGV to Marseille for 3 week selection.

    Big props to you for getting on the right path. I know you must have iron will being a former SEAL and currently a Legionaire. But when one starts down the path you choose for a while it can be super hard to course correct. Ive seen it first hand with a friend of mine from post high school days. Good on you for getting it done. Very admirable. Have a great weekend. :)

    You are a great inspiration to the many fatherless, lost, young men out there. Keep it up! No ego, humble acceptance and acknowledgment of prior bad choices, emphasizing lessons to be learned, accomplishing great things as a result. Truly happy to see your growth on YT and wishing you continued success!

    I try to really listen to and process everything you say without interrupting but I just had to pause. 9:00 Is truly the best way to go about things. If you start lying about things then you have to lie about other things and before you know it you're expending a massive amount of energy chasing and keeping straight lies. Eventually it'll all fall down and you'll look and feel much worse then you would have if you'd just started out by telling the truth.

    As a retired Marine I am interested in the pull up requirement. Are you allowed to tell us what the minimum requirement is?
    I am really enjoying your story. I have witnessed men fail then continue to fail. I have also seen men fail then begin to succeed and continue to succeed. It’s easy to fail and quit. It’s hard to fail, get up and start over. Never get tired of hearing it!

    • @dissmr
      @dissmr 8 месяцев назад +11

      Pull ups is minimal... 5 is enough to pass. You can bust up as many you want.
      It's not about pull-ups it's about weeding out guys that never did anything physical.

      In the regular screening tests it's about 4 pullups to get a "decent" score, for someone wanting to join the navy or air force (The tests are identical for the 3 components), or the army as an accountant or HR, any specialty that does not have high physical expectations that will do, but don't expect to join any physical unit like the infantry or paratroopers.
      Although, I've seen some dudes getting selected for these units when they did less than 5 pullups, but it's very rare, you get like 1 or 2 in a platoon and they tend to give up during basic training.
