Kirk Rintoul Not when you leave your flight plan seat and run to the back of the plane to avoid being stabbed. The issue at hand is who are you. What flight are you on, hostage? Yes, pilot stabbed, send jets in and alert national security for the outcome that happened m, to try and be prevented. We can’t turn back the clock back but wasting time and poor hearing isn’t good enough. What flight are you on: 11 She’s on flight 12 No it’s flight 11 She had to overhear a wrong traffic controllers information to correct it. If the traffic controller had muted her for 0.4 seconds while she relayed that information I would say it could have been an awful outcome but it appears giving information was pointless because the people trying to help on that call were as useless as a boat with holes in it.

Ok, what's your name? ... "Betty Ong." ... "and what seat are you in?".... "my Jump Seat, at 3R"... "and are you the flight attendant?" ... "I'm number 3 on Flight 11." ... "And, which plane are you on?"... "Flight 11." ... "and what seat are you in?".... "3R"..."And what is your name?".... "Betty Ong"... "and what flight are you on?"... "11"..."and what seat are you in?" "Jump seat"..."What flight number are we talking about?"..."12"..."No. I'm on Flight 11.." etc... It's like some kind of skit, only it's very tragic. I'm just struck by how poorly the communication is going in this clip. Here this brave woman is trying to call for help and it's like the people on the other end of the phone have no idea what to do about it, or what questions to ask. Much time is wasted repeating the same questions. Obviously, nobody was prepared for what happened, and I can imagine being dumbstruck by the events. I do think, however, one of the lessons learned, or rather one of the flaws in the system exposed by 9-11, is the inefficiency of the communication process in emergency events. People in the towers didn't know what was happening, many of them, and so squandered precious minutes that could have made the difference in survival. Elon Musk made an interesting observation once that people communicate with each other at the rate of a few bits per second. He noted that an AI interacting with us would be like a human talking to a tree. The point is that enhancing the communication rate in these kinds of situations could greatly improve the outcomes. Of course, the information has to be correct for people to make good decisions. Heck, in the South Tower, instead of an evacuation notice, the intercom was broadcasting "return to your seat, the building is secure" messages. I'm not blaming anyone, it was such an unexpected scenario, but knowing what happened can be a guide to improving preparedness in the future.
What a special person Betty was! It’s clear just from this call. But wow, the operators needed training! They aren’t even listening and talk to her like she’s ordering a pizza. I think I remember reading that all of the hijackers of Flight 11 were in the cockpit at the time of impact. It wasn't like most of the other flights where they had 1 or two hijackers in the cockpit and 2 hijackers standing guard outside the door.
I can't hold back my tears! RIP Betty! (From Vietnam)
RIP young Lady, what a hero she was. You may have left this world in a horrible way, But you will never be alone !
I saw a comment of Bettys cousin on another video saying how much he really misses her. May we never forget 💜
she was such a hero 🥺💔 Rest In Peace Betty we love you 💜
A wing at every major airport should be named after this lady, with her photo.
The end of the call gives me tears in my eyes every time rest in peace Betty 🙏
She's in Heaven.
God bless Betty & everyone else who suffered that day
My cousin Marianne Macfarlane died on the second plane, I really Wish I met her she was very nice, calm, loving, and beautiful like Betty Ong. That’s who Marianne was and the 2 women (Mary and Betty) are still strong in heaven
💔
Betty left a digital imprint of her voice as a time stamp in the past that will forever be as long as humanity exists! RIP!
My heart aches hearing this. I remember this day all too well. She is a hero. So professional and calm. I would be shaking if u was her. God bless America🇺🇸
We will never forget you Betty! RIP to the 2,977 people that died that day 🙏🏼
The 911 dispatchers are soo incompetent they even called her honey and had to be told it was flight 11 and not 12 again. She is an American hero.
And the dispatcher should be ashamed of themselves.
These weren't 911 dispatchers. She called American Airlines Reservations line. They have no 1st responder training.
@@princessleia911 I agree. Comments like this who think they are smart, when they are just as stupid as the operators
Personally, I'd appreciate being called "honey" while awaiting for my inevitable fate.
@@thevictorianbaroness7604 Agree completely
Whenever I think of 9/11 I’m taken back to a quote I saw on a trip to New York City (specifically the world trade centre museum): ‘no day shall erase you from the memory of time.’ - Betty Ong, and all the other beautiful souls we lost that day, you will be remembered.
to hear her voice being cut off and knowing what happened, it's creepy; RIP Betty...
Was it cut off because that’s when the plane hit?
@@Bfolks84 No it says at start of the video that it was a 25 min call but only the first 4 minutes were recorded- or were released to the public, anyway.
@@evesapple right i rewatched the beginning of the video and saw that.
I think the end of the call was too traumatic to release to the public as apparently she repeatedly asked to pray for them. So sad she knew her time was ticking down.
Betty was just saying "someone's calling medical and we can't get a st-" it cut out those were the last words she said to a living person rip Betty ong Feb 5, 1956- September, 11 2001
I think the conversation continued on for a little while, I remember the lady on the other saying "You're doing a great job" or something like that. The scary part is when they lose her, and she says "Betty, talk to me. Betty are you there? Betty?" Then she says "We may have lost Betty."
@@480Voltz that's sad I didn't no that
Betty was an agent!
My dad was friends with her, her boyfriend at the time, Robert landrum and my dad were best friends, my dad, his ex wife, Betty and rob would do a lot together, truly heartbreaking.
@@480Voltz Yes, I've heard that audio too. It's burned into my memory forever.
Betty was so composed, so calm and obvious put the feelings of those around her first. This is extremely hard to listen to. Operators couldn’t have done anything to stop this tragedy, but they could have listened better and not put Betty through repeating herself and correcting them. Betty, you are a hero, a beautiful soul and I know you comforted others on flight 11. Rest In Peace angel. We will never forget. 🙏🏻
I think we’re getting hijacked

The seat numbers were important.
Kirk Rintoul Not when nobody is in their seats anymore because of mace and a hostage situation.
@@josephwall5215 seat numbers are matched to passenger lists and passport numbers.
What flight are you on: 11
She’s on flight 12
No it’s flight 11
She had to overhear a wrong traffic controllers information to correct it. If the traffic controller had muted her for 0.4 seconds while she relayed that information I would say it could have been an awful outcome but it appears giving information was pointless because the people trying to help on that call were as useless as a boat with holes in it.
joseph wall I’m pretty sure they were trying to identify the hijackers
I just came back from NYC on a layover as I’m crew. It was my first time in NYC, and I went and visited the 9/11 memorial. I am so pleased I found Betty Ong’s name as she was a true hero 🥺😭
She is so calm .. What a hero..Doing her job right up to the end.. RIP you will never be forgotten..💕
Betty was a beautiful woman, both in appearance and soul.
she was the prettiest):
rest in peace angel
We will never forget your bravery. RIP
I talked About Betty today in Church. I put her picture on the internet after I traveled to New York to pay my respects to the fallen
I’d like to believe at this point yes they were terrified but possibly they didn’t know the plane was set to crash .. they might just thought the plane was hijacked and going to a completely different location. Hopefully it went quick and they’re all at peace wherever they are now
It is shocking that in that horrible situation, she had to deal with rude, incompetent, idiots !! God Bless Betty Ong !!! May she rest in Blessed Peace !!!
Professional till the end. RIP to all.
22 years ago, you flew into infinity. The CITY will always remember you. RIP Betty Ong.
RIP Betty Ong and condolences to her family🕊️. I always go back every anniversary and soak in footage and audio of this horrible day.
How horrifying for all those aboard these jets and for those in the pentagon and of all those poor souls in the twin towers … no words even after all these years can never ever forget something that changed the life of America as we knew it .. Thank you for your bravery and your courage in the face of pure and utter evil .. 💔💔💔
How can anyone remain so calm in such a situation. It is mind boggling to me may she Rest In Peace
She stayed so calm and professional to help the Authorities to track this plane. I'm not sure that most of us could do that. God bless you Betty Ong. x
You have to realize she was clam because she did not want the terrorists to come back there and murder her. Even though she did die.
She was looking for guidance, but it’s clear they didn’t have clue what to say to her. Poor thing! May she Rest In Peace 🙏🏻
For me its creepy to look directly at someone who died. Am I weird?
No, you are not. I agree with you
You scare
I be the same way but I keep my courage and prayers with god
Rest in peace Betty 🥺❤️ we never foget you, beutiful young lady❤️✝️
When she said "Where flying low where flying so low where flying verry verry low" That was just so upsetting poor woman .
We respect you, Betty Ong! A hero we will never forget.

My condolences
They was being so rude to her didn’t even remember the flight ✈️ number and also smart mouth 👄 her when she clearly was trying to hold it together smh so sad but she kept it very classy god bless her 👏🏻
So sorry
Jesus Christ, what is wrong with the people the other end! Betty have simple answers and repeated herself over 4/5 times! Unbelievable! A first time trip to New York and the 9/11 memorial made me revisit this!
RIP Betty and all of the other heroes who lost their lives in this tragic event!!
How she kept so calm I have no idea. I’m a flight attendant and this is mind blowing. I guess you just go into autopilot.
Beautiful Lady
So tragic and sad. 😢
It was the worst way to leave this world! I will forever feel so devastated for every person that died on 9/11 🥺😭 poor woman
remember too the 1,000s who've died since and still are from inhaling all the smoke and dust
These people act like they'd never heard of a high jacking. Absolutely caught sleeping at the wheel. So many failures in our national defense.
Rest well darling x
Wow I cannot believe these operators!! Unfcknreal! All that time wasted on them not being competent! Rip Betty
