  • When it comes to medical coding, the guidelines are gold. Anyone can look up a code in a book, but only a trained medical coder knows the appropriate guidelines for utilization, sequencing, and application. Strong knowledge of the guidelines can help you pass coding certification and pre-employment examinations!
Chapter 12 covers the disease of the Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue. Chapter 13 is Musculoskeletal System and Connective Tissue.

I was surprised that they didn’t have any guidelines about M61.1, Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva.

I am in a community college for my associates.when we take our test they are timed.I feel they shouldn’t be timed especially when you are trying to learn. Also I have more class to study for because I am getting the HIT degree.I’m so bummed about my first test because I ran out of time and after it was over I realized all the mistakes I made.Specifically the history z codes. There are 3 test in all so hopefully I can do better on the other 2 to pass. After this summer I have 1 more semester and will be finish in December🙏🙏🙏

This is a little off the subject, but I hope you can help me. I am a CPC -A but I just got a job as a biller. The providers are not documenting the time specificity of their calls for telehealth. One provider's LPN does all his telehealth calls???I'm like whoa, and no I have not billed for those encounters. I have emailed and reached out to them about this matter. We are an fqhc. I am worried about audits. Do u have any advice? I have never seen such.

Sorry, I don't have much experience in telehealth can can provide advice in that arena.

Are we allowed to highlight anything in the Guidelines? Or is that a no no for the exam?

Hello! Thank for the comment. As I've only worked within the US and applied within the US, I really can't advise on international protocols for job placement. I will say, however, that there are many coders within the US that are certified and have difficulties finding jobs.
