    I ran into Francis at my range in Cedar Springs Mi. I learned things watching him and things he said. He suggested backing my Bergers out from 20 to like 50. Seemed to tighten things up 🤙

    Great Podcast more PRS please. I recently listened to Chris Way on a podcast comment. Shooting unlike other sports.The really good shooters don’t want to share their knowledge. Looks like maybe we are turning a corner here . Thanks Eric

    Thank you Eric for all that your bringing to us and a huge thank you to Francis. Talking about being positive and eliminating the negative is a huge issue for me personally. I also appreciate your comments on the attention to detail in each step. I am an older guy but just getting into PRS last year and I spent so much time with load development and trying to get that perfect combination. I am now starting to understand that it is only a small part in achieving personal success and your interview has really gave me a lot to think about.

      Definitely. There are so many traits that crossover from golf to precision reloading & shooting, it has to be why I gravitate to these disciplines. As you stated here, you have unique and lofty goals and I have found to be true with everything I undertake. People often say, “I want to be successful...” as a stand-alone. My response is always, “define success”.
      After golf, I always found myself around people satisfied with mediocrity and it drove me insane. My wife and I got together after my competitive days so, she has a difficult time understanding the way I view every endeavor. I saved this video for her to watch because you laid it out so well. I am not an extrovert so, this will help immensely. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and I hope you two do it again. Thanks Francis.

    Great interview, I shoot all the long range matches at rayners range (Tom Rayners) here in Ohio. Great place and wonderful ppl. If anyone is interested in a place in Central Ohio come check the matches out. We typically shoot from 235 yards out to 1000 yards.

    I heard you mentioned that it was fun shooting in the wind. I shoot with Francis all the time in Michigan and I have not asked him recently, is it still fun for you? I know that winning is gratifying, but are you still having fun with the strict regimen and all of the discipline? Or has your level of fun diminished and been replaced by gratification. Just curious.

    I agree with everything, and I understand the kiss system. Keeping things as simple as possible. However, as the sport has become more accurate, the more complicated it takes to keep up. Looking at this from my point of view, what seems like over complicating, becomes where you will need to be in the future. Any thoughts ?

    • @5x5precision86
      @5x5precision86 2 года назад +2

      My experience/opinion is that "simple" is still winning in the PRS. Less failure modes/complexity in your gear and process equals fewer mistakes and that is where the matches are usually won or lost. Will that change or evolve? For sure...but even if there are some new advancements in understanding or technology, the simplest solution will always be my preference to reduce my exposure to mistakes.

    • @FrancisColonPRS
      @FrancisColonPRS 2 года назад +2

      Every type of competition evolves, that's a certainty. However, my perspective has taught me that simplicity allows you to learn skill, master it and move on faster than working on all things at once. Essentially, you should be working to simplify your processes as often as possible. Until you can demonstrate with 100% certainty (to yourself ) that a skill, process or step is meaningfully beneficial, you should consider removing it from your process. You will speed up your learning curve and improve time to mastery.

      @@FrancisColonPRS , good advice. I'm not running pro, but no matter the discipline the processes are the same. I really enjoyed listening to you. I'm learning and always will be.

      Schemedium by armageddon gear. Get the heavy fill and dump some out to get the best balance

    • @FrancisColonPRS
      @FrancisColonPRS 2 года назад +3

      Hi Ron! Only one choice in my book (I've tried virtually all of them): Armageddon Gear Shmedium with heavy sand fill. It has a pour spout that makes it easy to add/remove fill. You'll need to break it in a bit (just drop it on concrete or hard ground 50-60 times) and adjust sand fill to suit your needs. It's designed with a super pliable fabric that models really well. Just use caution around really jagged obstacles or snagging on screws/nails (like any other bag).
