  • As I was making filming the post Linex rebuild of the Burban, I realized the Snorkel could use a more in depth video. So here's how I addressed the issues I had with my first install. I like it better now.

i just put one on my k5 blazer. it fits better on the square body vehicles. it looks good on your gmt400. i left the three inch intake on mine, it breathes way better than stock. i got a few mpg and it feels a little faster. a free tip for cutting perfect straight cuts on round tubing is to use a large hose clamp wrapped around the tube. it centers itself perfectly when you tighten it up.

Your channel is awesome! I recently bought a 97 Suburban and plan on many mods including a snokel. Looks like you may be in the SLC area, as am I.

Man! You did A LOT of work with both to get the snorkel you wanted! I guess I won't complain about the problems I had,. But you can share my pain when I do finally release those videos.

I like your two-tone liner job. My '95 4WD K1500 was factory white, and I went with a white liner job and kept the fender flares black with black liner coating.

Thank you, I was going for that classic factory style two-tone. My truck was originally white, but Linex told me living in high altitude it would yellow over time.

@@rockymtnredneck4888 Same here. I was told about the possible yellowing after two years or so, so I had some additional layers of clear coat put on. I'm not at altitude, but the Texas heat is still a factor. I just need to get 3-4 more years out of the Suburban and I'll be good.

If they made a snorkel for out trucks I'd get one in a heartbeat. But I just don't know if I like the fitment of the 80 series one. It fits good enough, but I still don't like the gaps in the front of the snorkel.

Gaps close up well enough that you wouldn't notice unless you're looking for them. I have one I'll sell you real cheap. May or may not need some JB Weld work....depending on your preferences.

Any Idea how much air this can flow? I have a 5.9 cummings, and just wondering if it would flow enough air for that engine. It looks like you have a big block? how many horses does that enging make?

No Idea what air flow it makes. I do know it is way larger than the stock "sippy-straw" that went down behind the turn signals for intake. I have a 454 pushing about over 300 at the wheels last time it was dyno'ed. See my vids on the Procharger.

how much does the tube block your vision at the right A pillar when you go to look for cars as you turn?

Doesn't bother me. I heated and bent it into place to give the best visibility possible.

Did this help you with engine cooling?

    • @rockymtnredneck4888

No, this has little to do with cooling the engine. It does provide colder air to the intake, which helps power and efficiency. But as I said, it was mainly to keep the air filter cleaner from desert dust.
