    I find that I reach satiation much sooner (thus eating far less food) with homemade goodies. It demonstrates how the food companies really do design their foods so you'll eat way too much!

    • @bernadettehynes-cafferkey3917
      @bernadettehynes-cafferkey3917 3 года назад

      We are in control of our stomach and how much we eat, can't blame food companies for overeating, we have to have self control, our grandparents didn't over eat, because they cooked what they ate, we have to do likewise

    • @stephanos6128
      @stephanos6128 Год назад

      @@bernadettehynes-cafferkey3917 oh no youd be surprised how much companies and the like rely on things like addiction and constant consumpfion for profit. Dasani for example tastes the way it does cus its basically salt water, the salt makes you even more thirsty, so you buy another. But youre not getting a good healthy dose of water intake cus of that salt. Now throw in the issue of Coke putting Dasani dispensers everywhere in public spaces.
      Food wasn't (entirely) the addiction at the time of our forefathers, but our grandparents smoked way more than we do now, tobacco was pretty much a go to for them. And coca cola, a soda, had cocaine in it, an addictive ingredient as much as it was medicine.
      never ending profit thrives off addiction and lack of resources and knowledge for something better. poor people tend to eat the most procsssed food and be overweight noticeably, not rich people. Not due to lack of self control, but lack of resources to eat anything better. things like youtube is a godsend for these people if they have the time and money to go about making it (if theyre poor, probably not. too busy working to pay bills. so a $2 pack of Ritz is better at the moment than $300 worth of groceries and ingredients for One Snack, especially the risk of food not being made cus again lack of cooking skill)
      theres also things like allergies. coconut is a nono ingreident if someones allergic

    Anyone needing Gluten Free versions- Oat flour is GF as long as you use certified GF oats to make it, and GF all purpose should sub for the wheat flour just fine! Cheers!

      Here is my version: 2 cups of brown rice or sorghum flour, 1 cup of starch, potato or tapioca or arrowroot, which is what I use, or any starch, 1/2 cup sticky rice also called sweet rice, 2 tablespoons coconut rice. I am going to keep experimenting with different flours and starches and using more coconut flour and bean flours.

    • @lujszi_519
      @lujszi_519 7 лет назад

      St. Blaise same here. In my country we have a great gf brand, that is also healthy af :D they have many variations but almost every one of them is Free from gluten, milk, soy, egg, sugar, yeast, corn, potato, rice, baking flour. For this I would probably use one that says: Ingredients: whole grain buckwheat flour, tapioca flour, whole grain millet flour, psyllium seed husks flour, bamboo fiber flour, sodium carbonate (soda), citric acid.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 лет назад +9

      it would have to be a solid fat for the ritz and gold fish so butter would be the sub. For the gold fish it MAY be able to be another vegetable oil but I'm not really sure... It might be hard to roll out. Butter would work for all of them.

    • @MindOverMunch

      they'll last about a week in room temperature. Goldfish and graham crackers in an airtight container, the ritz do better with a little air so they don't get soft :)

      Awesome so glad to have you here! Thank you!! And yes, if we were making our own snacks and treats, we wouldn't be indulging in the same way that we might with store-bought snacks!! I try to keep this in mind :)

    1. why coconut oil?
    2. have you done fruit leathers or no-sugar dried fruit that I've missed.
    3. definitely going to try the partially hydrogen free crackers. roofers.

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 лет назад

      Coconut oil is a fat that can be solid in form, so it is a great substitute for butter. I did do fruit leathers in the bento box series/eBook :)

    Do you know if olive oil or grapeseed oil would do the same effect to crackers as coconut oil? Will be there any difference?

    I accidentally made a 2 ingredient chocolate spread the other day (as part of an experimental chocolate cake) by combining greek vanilla yoghurt and cocoa powder. Idk if it's healthier than the normal spreads but it tasted delicious so I just wanted to share.

    Hi Alyssia, love your videos. What can I use if I don't want to use coconut oil?

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 лет назад

      Butter would be the option because these need a solid fat. If you don't like the taste of coconut oil try triple filtered coconut oil because it doesn't have the taste or aroma of coconut :)

    Probably the most favorite episode for me, learned how to make my three favorite snacks, that too the healthy version. When I saw the thumbnail image I thought you would suggest what healthy snacks to eat, didn't realize the recipes would follow too. How do you come up with the recipes? You must experiment with food all the time. The fishies look so cute, better than the store bought ones.

      thank you so much! I am constantly in the kitchen! I actually start my recipe development process by researching recipes that aren't designed to be healthy, and then start to make modifications for healthier ingredients. Then I get in the kitchen and work around it! The more I do it the easier it gets :)
