- Опубликовано: 30 мар 2009
- It's amazing that this video got 4 million views, you can see the power that John Denver's music still has after all these years.....I made this video in honor of the great John Denver, and for who loves this song like me. Take me home, Country Roads.
Now with lyrics available as subtitles
I'm not here for John Denver, I'm here for my late husband Rick, who was from WV. His last request before he passed was for me to take him home to WV, which I did. He is now resting on a mountain top there. I will love him forever. Thank you, for this.
God bless your husband
On a mountain top? He is not resting, he is in Heaven.
Press F to pay respects.
Awesome wife, i hope I will find a wife like this, bringing me home if god takes me
Blessings to you and your husband. WV is a fine place.🌿
I'm a born city-boy (Cincinnati), but my mother was born in West Virginia. I'm proud to call myself half West Virginian, and I love to listen to this song- makes me think of my family and my other home state. When I get tired of the city traffic and noises, I like to think of a simpler life that's closer to nature. Country roads, take me home.
I'm from Iowa. We aint got shit but country. And I like that. But once I drove through West Virginia, I felt blessed. In my opinion its the prettiest of the 48 land states that ive been to by far. God bless America and west Virginia!
Lots of country in Illinois also
Our country roads in Iowa are the best tho, I live in des monies
Just wait till you take a dirt road in southern Missouri
Thanks we love our state, we have woods/forest where no man has walked, except for GOD.
Iowa has more than country roads. But Iowa's country roads are pretty great. And so are West Virginia's!
I love you dad. Miss you
As a young troop in officer training at Ft. Knox in the summer of 1971 i heard this song drifting across the cool night air while on guard duty, it has haunted me in a good way ever since...peace be yours John.
Us Appalachian folk are the last major remnant of a time before all this new technology. Back when men and politicians actually had spines, and God was glorified.
the32712 shut it
david robert Will be praying for ya. Love ya!
the32712 Right on!My family arrived in Corley, west by God in 1728 & 1734, deeded what is now 3 counties of land at the time around Corley, west by God by the German government of the time... Several generations of my family are buried on what once was Cogar Mountain till it was finally sold. Fuckin' 'ell.
+the32712
And by God I hope you mean Allah.
+the32712 so full of shit

Proud to call West by god Virginia my home. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else but here in these mountains.
This was just a flat out, great record. Clean production, the arrangement, the performances......everything just gelled. It sounds as fresh today as it did the first time I heard it, 44 years ago.
Great pictures, too.
Grew up on country roads, in a place called Davis Creek, we love our state, West Virginia.

Where did the musicans who created fabulous songs such as this all disappear to? 254 dislikes. WTF? Must be all the rappers and hip-hoppers. This song stays in your heart forever.Thank God I was born in the 50's, and caught it all from Elvis to Tom Petty. RIP John Denver....your talent was loved by millions.
hd74man The masses are hooked on the Prozac, Big Macs and Reality TV. Numbed into submission. Modern entertainers (note I did not use the word "musicians") could record themselves in a heated moment of flatulence and put a back-beat to it and it would sell. We cared about the intellectual and musical aspect of our musicians back in the day. Now, the next numb is all the kids care about. Sad is the modern world.
hd74man Rappers and hip-hoppers? Lol really?
Great musicians are still out there. It is just a new, different generation of music. As time and people change so do the tastes in music. Though the classics are still remembered, society changes and older generations are left behind.
i just came from listening to that gosh darn rappity rap. after that i listened to wish you were here (entire album) and now this.. fuck stereotypes, all genres put out good music. open your mind a little bit.
hd74man *billions
Ahh, Country Roads! Who could sing it better than John Denver--No one! He was the all time greatest singer songwriter to have ever been on this earth and he is missed so much. When I travel the first song to come to mind is Country Roads . Course I think of Rocky Mountain High too!! John is missed by so many and I pray he rests in Peace forever and his music will always be loved by many.
Hello 👋 Jeannie. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Jean, listen to Ted Vigil. He's a John Denver tribute artist. I think you'll like him. Not as good as John, but pretty close.
One of the greatest song John Denver ever sang. Just gone to early in life, RIP
This song not only takes me back to my childhood, but also reminds me of the love, the mercy, the feelings we human have forgotten and all that unfairness in the world...

Right good song..brings back memories
I never been to WV but I remember singing out-of-tune this song to my younger brother as I helped him finish an assignment on the Mid-Atlantic. Who knows how I learned the song, but it always stuck. My foreign-born coworkers have said the same w/o even asking. The song instills nostalgia, no matter where you come from. Makes you miss home.
I love this song I live in West Virginia and make me happy
Willis Graham I wanna come there!! I’d love to live there

Have you seen the video at the West Virginia football game, where at the end of the game 60000 fans sing country roads. John would have been soon proud !!
Thanks Taffy Nivert and her husband for helping write this song!
One of the best songs ever written, composed, and sung!! John Denver the Legend!! :) :)
This is a popular song in Germany
Mark G I wonder if it's because a lot of us came from Germany? My ancestors are from Upper Bavaria, which looks a lot like home...
+Mark G That is so cool. I bet it is also popular in neighboring Switzerland,as in the Alps...
+Mark G Funny you should say that, because John Denver was German American.
+Mark G It is the German National Anthem. They play it everywhere you go! Very cool song no matter where played!
+racerlex is that really true? that this song is popular in Germany?

In my younger years I spent a lot of time away from WV while in the military. Listening to this would make me horribly homesick. Still love my home state. Live in central Virginia because that's where the job is. It has mountains and is nice, but I still love to go home and visit. My family has been in the area of the small town I grew up in since before the turn of the century...the 18th century. Old family grave yards with deceased dates in 1705-1710.
this has to be one of the best produced & sung songs I've ever heard.
this song and his voice just speaks to the soul
This song rates as one of my all time favorites. I would love to visit WV in the fall. Thanks for the post.
Ya know unless you grew up with this you would never know that this was Top 40. It was in the play list with all of the rock and Top 40 of the day. There were no "Country" stations, it was just that. I miss that format and I miss this beautiful peaceful classic. We need more music like this and less of that crap the recording industry calls music.
I live in West virginia and I'm only 12 but when I was little I would be out in the woods with dad hunting and I would start humming this and then we would start singing it all the way back to the old pickup such good memories God bless West Virginia
I love to sing this song
This brings me back to Morgantown
From there too

I cannot listen to this song without crying. I moved far from my home twenty years ago because I wanted to find something better and different. I have faced so many challenges and this song never fails to reduce me to tears. I just sent it to my mother as a text message.

Wow! I can't believe 129 people don't like this song. This is true Americana. I grew up in Oklahoma and I think this a beautiful song. I need to go visit West Virginia before I die. What a great video with some beautiful pics.
Doesn't really matter "where" in the country , just listening to John brings back a lot of memories!! Growing up on the farm you listened to country music and John was one of them.

Country Roads LYRICS
Almost heaven...West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old, there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice, in the morning hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday
Yesterday...
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Momma
Take me home, country roads
Calm down everyone you cant fault people for not knowing how great it is to be from this great nation. They don't understand what real freedom is and how great it feels. GOD BLESS THE USA and EVERYONE else. I remember singing this song from middle school chorus class and the memories are priceless.
Thomas the tractor will be remembered. He will always rest in Frankie and all of Frankie's fans' hearts.
90% of views Achieved thanks to frankieonpcin1080p sending a link of this country song that is surprisingly not half bad. Frankie is so different from any other RUclipsr I've ever seen. Who else can agree?

i still dont tire of hearing his voice...
I was born in NYC, grew up in urban NJ and now live in D.C. I've never lived in anything close to the country or a rural setting, yet this song puts a tear in my eye every single time I hear it.
I'm a bulgarian living in Spain and I don't know shit about West Virginia but listening to this peace of art makes me wanna visit that wonderful place
My dad loves this song. I have listened to him humming this song since 1990s. He still sings this song. We came back from the hospital today, sitting in the balcony and he was singing this song and i just played this song to him. 💕 He just missed his young days. Thank you for uploading this song.
Moved to Amazing CO in 97... Before being so "blessed" i had the opportunity to tramp across Europe. In a small village in Germany i heard men, women, children belting out this song. With an amazing German accent, banging beers together. One world. One people. I now live in that country home. Left the big city. Found my own way. Life is a wonder when you love and live. Thanks JD
Kevin Richards It's kind of silly how a lot of places in western Germany eat this kind of music up. In fact two summers ago I travelled to Bavaria to visit my brother and went to a couple festivals where much of the music involved either Folk Blues, Swamp rock or classic German Folk.
292 People are lost to the beautiful views and wonderful people of West Virginia, and/or hate John Denver. How could you guys do that! How could you hate West Virginia!
nach dreieinhalb Jahrzehnten auf dem Truck immer wieder schön.....Thank John !!!
It doesn't matter where you're from. When you hear this, all you want to do is go home.
This song is always a hit at any videoke in the Philippines!
I'm Puerto Rican and I love this song AND West Virginia. The mountains remind me of PR as do the country folk there. What they refer to as Hillbillies in WV we call "Jibaros" (which means mountain folk) which is basically where my family is from. It was a natural progression for me to make my home there. Besides the beautiful land, the people are some of the most generous and kind folk I've even known. In fact, I married one. ;)
I spent a short summer in West Virginia. That state still haunts me in my dreams because it was just so beautiful. I hope to return.
This song makes me feel proud to be from West Virginia, and I'm from Europe
.... I get a feeling I should have been home yesterday....How I miss home
I'm from Germany and I love this song too. :)
One of those songs that knows no geographical boundaries, creed, religion, or political affiliation. If you don't like this one, you may already be dead...
I came here because this is a great song by a great musician.
My Mom & Aunt's grew up there. We still sing it at family get-togethers (& non-relatives absolutely love it, & think its the coolest thing.
I grew up on this music...RIP John....we miss you....
Great job! It was videos with pictures like these and John Denver's music that got me through four deployments, being WIA five times and receiving a "Dear John" letter from my wife while doing daily patrols in Fallujah, Iraq. After all that it was John's music that healed a heart and soul that no longer wanted to live. Thank you so much for this beautiful video, and thank you John for the gift of your music. You are so badly missed.
Oh and to my x-wife's new husband remember this, she was cheating on me when she took up with you so don't turn your back.
West Virginia Pride!! This is our state anthem!
I am from Logan,West Virginia,,,and do really miss the state and all of its GLORY..This song takes me home every time I hear it.
+Audie Murphy I am from Calhoun Co.West Virginia and do miss the great state of West Virginia as well and of its beautiful Glory.Every time I hear this song I'm so reminded of our great state of West Virginia and it brings me to tears
+Harvey Parsons YES I MISS THE COUNTRY LIFE FOR SURE. NO PLACE EVEN COMES CLOSE TO HOME..
Have yet only visited the Southwest of the US - will never forget Grand Canyon or Las Vegas. One day, perhaps, I can see West Virginia also? Otherwise the song is sheer rememberance of sitting around camp fires on summer evenings - in better times, when I was younger and full of spirit...
This is the real and original American spirit...country roads take me home to the place...
How I like this song from John Denver. I can't stop listening. I belong to this place too though far away here in Africa. We have made our West Virginia
West VA is beautiful. Enjoyed my brief stay there.
No one wrote songs like John Denver. His passion for American landscape lives on through his music. We lost him far too soon.
Beautiful, but very depressing to me, My first husband loved this time of year. He was killed in the fall and each year, just reminds of how much he loved it. I think he would have loved West Virginia!!! I hope heaven looks like this for him...I love and miss you and our little girl...both of you rest in peace...
Brings a tear to my eye every single time. I've been all over this country and for all it's beauty I've never found another place or people that can compare to West Virginia. I love this place so much and it pains me to know how it's been exploited and sold by everyone from MTV to king coal. In 100 years it'll be nothing but flat "reclaimed" mountains with shopping malls on top. Thankfully I'll be long gone by then.
