As one of the bartenders from St Matthew's Hall, thanks for giving us such a glowing review and great to hear the town is doing well! Would love for you to come and visit when I'm working and I'll give you a champions welcome!
Nice to see a positive video about my home town. I live away from Walsall now . To be honest some of the stories you hear these days make me a bit scared to go back for a visit. Glad to see there are still plenty of cracking boozers and good Walsall folk are still about too.
The Black Country Arms, or The Green Dragon of old is an amazing pub. Been a pub since the 1700's. The Red Lion used to be a proper working men's pub, but is really decent friendly place, and isn't an obvious gay pub during the day.
The Rehistry was originally the town Registrars Office. The Spoons was The Magistrates Court. Not far from The Crown is AJs Ales microbrewery. Also a bar called Fast Eddies, another local pub, still got pool tables.
Great video, Walsall used to be my old stomping ground so it was great to see some of the old pubs still going, but it was the wheatsheaf that brought the biggest smile, that was pretty much my second home, so many fun fun nights there, some great memories with a few very messy lock ins. Great times.
Ya know, and to my surprise, Walsall scrubs up quite well regarding pubs. According to Ratebeer there are 11 places in a town of roughly 65000. And some of those pubs /bars are top notch places.
Excellant video fella 👌 I live in Walsall and it is a hidden gem with some decent boozers at affordable prices...The Tap and Tanner is my local and it had a big refurb last year...Liked and followed 👍🏻
The Market Tavern used to be the Punch and Judy. Was a great pub that used to compete with the green dragon (black country ales now) over the road. One pub had camels and the other pub had elephants to out do them. REAL ONES not fake lol (was back in the 1800s).
i grew up in walsall and it was my old stomping ground till around '88. I went there a year or so back. What a fecking shite hole the center has become. Propped the bar up at the Lynton a few times, which is at the top of the town btw. Highgate brewery was about 1/4 mile from where you were standing, i believe it to have been converted into apartments.
My hometown. Crazy that someone comes to try the pubs out when I do my best to avoid the place 😅
So what is exactly is wrong with Pretty Bricks, The Fountain and the Victoria for a drink exactly, maybe you are just scared of your own shadow?
@@neilboulton9813 I’m scared of my own shadow because Walsall has become an absolute dump ?
Born n bred.....it's gone downhill but still HOME!

Pretty bricks just one hundred metres from the manor house that got fire bombed , North Walsall council estates . Keep away.

It's actually a great little place
After some dodgy pubs at the start seems you went to some good ones in the end. Black country ales generally make good beer
Round the corner from the Pretty Bricks, AJ's you'd have loved it, microbrewery, only open weekends like The New Invention.

Our beautiful Sid had his debut
Walsall is Dead but your video made it alive for 22 minutes 35 seconds well done

Howzabout The Barley Mow ?
I can't find any record of a current existing pub called The Barley Mow in Walsall... where is it?
