I have always thought phasers and flangers sound best with the rate slowed way down so the sweep takes place over a longer period of time. Otherwise, they end up jst sounding a bit like a wah pedal or a vibrato pedal.
Wow with your hollowbody you can really hear ALL of the tones so much better. I like this much more than the MXR 90 or 95 but it's no slouch of a pedal either. I just think this is more versatile. It's got a really nice creamy crunch too that's easily tamed. It's like a wah, flanger, tremelo and chorus all built into one.
I like the Boss PH3 and its versatility. To counter the volume drop something like a a MXR Micro Amp or something simular is needed. It's much the same with a tremolo pedal.
This one is quite unique and does it’s own thing. Very different sound from an MXR Phase 90 or an EHX Small Stone. It may drop your volume a bit tho, mine did and I sold it cos couldn’t live with the volume drop, unless boss fixed this issue by now?
I had one of the original “Phaser” pedals…same green..only 3 knobs and way less versatility….may be time to revisit this! Great demo as always Shane! Thx
What was that song? Oh, yeah! Tiny Bubbles make me happy! Fun demo and that pedal can bring you some much needed comic relief if you're trying too hard to put together a song. It can also bring inspiration. Another cool Boss pedal.
I had a PH-2. I had one song that I purposely used it on and I set it on Phase II. It was a one-trick pony and wasn’t as useable as a flanger if you ask me.
I've had a PH-2 since the late 90s, still use it, but I just ordered a PH-3, so many cool settings, especially the Step mode, and the tap tempo/expression pedal input is a great feature.
I Ebay-ed one of these for a friend but snapped one the knobs off and had to cancel and refund and paid my pal the same money and kept it for myself. Glad that happened.
He didn't show off the coolest feature. The stair effect. Although this does sound good for a digital pedal, the boss Ph2 is analog and has a much warmer tone.
As far as digital phasers go, it's simply the best sounding. It's a staple in reggae circles.
I had the PH2 years ago and I remember it creating a huge volume drop. was fun to play with
My ph3 did the same, sucked tone. My phase 90 boosts the volume a bit and quite annoying, but my small stone is perfectly matched, no cut or boost.

Absolutely which is why I find reviews like this depressing. Limited to the most predictable things someone might do with a phaser.
I like the fast bubbly sounds also
Love that Pedal. Have it for Years and i´m still happy with it :)
This is a cool pedal. Wasn't gonna get one at first because I have the ph-2 and a Ross phaser but I did and I'm glad
Not really into gear but that was a really cool tone on some of those settings. Always entertaining here!

I've just recently rekindled my appreciation for Boss pedals. I hadn't bought a Boss stompbox since 1981. Now my entire board is 11 Boss pedals lol
My story a few years ago, I never cared much about Boss and now I collect their pedals and have no use for others
This pedal rocks..great demo Shane!
The resonance control feeds back part of the effect back into itself like on a flanger. This gives the effect a more pronounced sound.
Yes, I found out this pedal is great yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago. So underrated.
4:16 You did the adjust that was in my head! Awesome!
Phaser is one of my favorite sounds, and this one sounds pretty cool!!

Awesome demo!⭐️
Thanks so much!🙏
Very cool effects! The tap tempo feature is like an added bonus, and leave it to Shane to introduce us to cool stuff!

Nice video. I’ll get one soon. There are many offers on reverb 👌🏾👌🏾🎸🎸
I had no idea this pedal had that many stage options. Really cool
Is over two years old now, but that was an amazing demo / intro song
When you leave the rate slower you can get some great effects used by new wave greats like Psych Furs, J&M Chain, the Cure, etc.
It's nice to see how much fun u have w the quirky pedals man .. straight crack yourself up and the rest of us as well..😁
I had that pedal but sold it when I was short of money :-) I used it with a Boss BF-2 flanger and got sitar -like sound
Takes some messing with to get the right sound, but I loved this pedal when I had it!
Seems Boss has all the phase shift effects covered with this pedal. The “bubbles” were hilarious. 😂 Thanks for another great demo, Shane.
It’s got a very unique original sound of its own. Not a regular phaser by any means.
Hey Shane, do you think this shifter could be used in a univibe way on the 4 phase setting in front of fuzz or distortion?
Some of these tones reminds me of 70s rock!!! Love it!!!🎸🎸😎🤙🏾

What are the guitars in this video? It’s a challenge to find lefties with the specs I want. Thanks.
Your a jazz musician 👩 great style; from: Scranton, Pennsylvania
Lots of very cool and useable sounds…some not so much 🤣
Good demo, mate.

Shane. Great tennis match on at the moment. 🙂
HAVE a cigar, I think you'll go far!
The phaser was created to play the intro
to "The Spirit of radio". Just kidding. Thanks for
the video.
I thought the phaser was invented for “That Lady” by the Isley Brothers💫
Oberheim Filter [sample hold] should be fun for kids, this pedal.
This sound reminds me of "The Warriors" movie background music.
Great reference!
Boss Phaaaa-ser, come out and plaaaayyyyy
Looks fun but not my cup of tea. Thanks for the info Shane. Blues On....💙 PS. Where's Jamal ? I hope he's OK. 😁
I Ebay-ed one of these for a friend but snapped one the knobs off and had to cancel and refund and paid my pal the same money and kept it for myself. Glad that happened.
Excelente, gracias
This is a highly underrated pedal. But maybe people are catching on because they’re harder to find, sorta
I always had volume drop issues with this pedal in the signal chain on/off. Did you have that too ?
I see that you are amused by it!
Never realised how throaty it was!
👍🏻👍🏻

No expression pedal demo. Are you trying to make me grumpy?

Ah sorry about that! I thought I covered everything I read in the manual. Thanks for the heads up!
@@intheblues All good mate. Love the channel!
He absolutely did show off step mode. Like several times.
Sounds like you could play the pulp fiction intro by dick dale with this pedal.
??? No phaser in that song….
Freaky sounds
