i know this was a few years ago but i wanted to share a fun story about vintage barbie garments. Years ago when Toy story 2 was coming out it marked Barbie's 40th or 50th birthday i can't remember which but it was a big event. the entire month of her birthday was filled with documentaries there was one that was so awesome! literally i wish i could see it. it was the barbie costume archive. like museums and clothing of the past it was a solid white room with all these giant metal wall things that pulled out like dresser droors. in each one had barbie garments that were made in that pacific year wrapped carefully in a protective layer like they do with museum garments. they wore the special gloves when showing off the outfits. they even had outfits that were I don't know if um saying it right but they were barbie outfits that never got a chance to be put on sale due to change of fashion preference or cancled. they had those garments as well as the ones we know. one edition that didnt make it to market was a second halloween costume set for barbie and ken which was a Marie Antoinette theme which came with a little wig for the fashion queen barbie. i wish i could find that documentary on youtube it was such a fun part of that barbie documentary. and these werent reproductions they did have a section for the reproduction garments but most of what they had were garments of original outfits, never sold items, and the tiny accessories.
Skipper has two outfits that match these Barbie fashions: "Dress Coat" which is her red velvet coat, hat, & purse (also comes with gloves, socks & shoes); and "Silk n' Fancy" dress which has the red velvet top and white satin skirt. Displays great next to Barbie's.
These hold a special place in my hart. When I was a kid in 1998 I liked vintage barbie, alot like you did. My Mother was a little bit of a crab about it. But in 1998, I got the Silk.n.Flame reporo. Loved it because it was my only "vintage" set. I still have the coat and the clutch and gloves. I don't have the dress or belt anymore unfortunately. You should have put Red Flare on your midge. The reason being, that the first T.V. commercial introducing Midge, she was wearing red flare as she shows up at Barbies Dreamhouse.
I generally do the outfits on the dolls that the artwork represents them in, or which has a special memory for me. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do Midge in red flare in the future!
I really like your videos, I have both vintage outfits. But I put a slip under mine. My favorite Barbie outfit is prom date & dinner at eight. I now have vintage Barbie, midge and ken and one mod Barbie.
I do understand why children combined the 2 outifits however there is a porcelain version of the doll with the 2 outfits combined and the repro has the 2 outfits combined aswell so I think Mattel kinda listened to the suggestions of the people
And I might solve the issue for like the less flare Silken flame has If you Have The Fashion Plantation Belle Use The Under skirt On silken Flame It Might Give More Results
Red Flare is my absolute favourite vintage outfit. I have a vintage 60s version in perfect condition. I think the bow was put in the back to sit easily on a ponytail Barbie but in the vintage tv advert It’s worn on a bubble cut with the bow on the front. It’s so Christmassy
These outfits are so beautiful on your dolls. I only have one real vintage Barbie dress. The rest are handmade by my mom, my aunt, and me. The one vintage dress I have is called Let's Dance. I watch Sue's Barbie Love on RUclips and she suggested the book Vintage Barbie dolls by Hillary Shilkitus James. That's where I found the name of that dress because I don't have a fashion booklet. I am binging on your videos and will run out soon. Do you have any recommendations for other Barbie you tubers?
It’s so dumb but my legit favorite outfit is the sweet dreams outfit. I just love the vintage bedtime clothes that Mattel made. It looks so good on a blonde or titian ponytail barbie
Jazz Hands i just love the nightwear from that era. I also just got #942 Icebreaker in the mail and it looked amazing on my Midge. I wanna try and see it on my bubblecut too. It’s a really cool outfit
I do! I have it listed in my account profile. It’s more of the same, although I do take some stock pics of the videos fashion and throw most of them on there. I really need that new Barbie dream house 1964 background imo. Glad to have you here appreciating vintage fashion with the rest of us! I also have some random doll stuff coming up.
3 favs: Enchanted Evening w/blonde ponytail, Solo in the Spotlight w/Honey Blonde ponytail, Red Flare with Brunette bubble cut

There are a lot of excellent RUclipsrs but I haven’t been keeping up with them much I’m afraid. And let’s dance is a great dress! Very pretty

They aren’t really on my radar, but I agree that they look great.

Hello, In the fashion book does it say that this outfit was sold with red shoes or black?
I believe red came with the silken flame version, the coat, and black came with the silken flame!
Just discovered your account and im loving it! Do you have an instagram?
